Manchester City banned from CL for 2 seasons and fined 30 million euros | CAS - Ban lifted, fined 10 million

Don’t believe that will be enforced, a year at best and they might even be able to delay it for next season.

There is no chance this sticks. My guess is the ban is overturned and the fine increased.

I can't see why Pochettino would join a non UCL club that's been banned from it in comparison to trying to get a team to qualify for it like he did previously.

Seems like a waste of time & a pressure to win the league.

Allegri might have less jobs to compete for.

fingers crossed it sticks . About time fifa grew some balls . hopefully they also crack down on racism as well as ffp

So will 5th get CL spot or team with highest coefficient points?

They will throw money at uefa and still escape
Yep, we all know how this one ends...

“You broke FFP regulations and were woefully financially-imprudent so you are banned from Europe for two seasons.”

“How can we remedy this situation, UEFA?”

“Erm... throw another £50m our way. That’ll teach you.”

Knew this was coming but word was only a year ban, two excellent but they’ll appeal!

This is hilarious. I’ll be amazed if CAS don’t overturn it though.

Having said that UEFA set the entry requirements for their competitions. If they have clear proof that City violated the rules then they should be allowed to dictate the punishment.

Likely best case scenario is CAS reduces the fine and the ban is upheld :fingerscrossed:

Not to put a dampener on this but it would be awful if we got 5th and a CL place but then this ruling was overturned in the summer and we were back in the Europa :nervous:

Sure it will look bad on Uefa for accepting money when they are banning a club for breaking rules on money itself?

Why couldn't it be Liverpool :(

I'm guessing it's because they don't lie about their finances.

Nice to see UEFA finally do something about Manchester City's cheating. And it'll be nice to see a proper football club take their place in the CL, be it Manchester United, or whoever.

This is huge but will be very surprised if it sticks, cities owners have the money to pay for appeal lawyers until time stops.

Still might push Pep out the door/give him an excuse to leave.

If it holds up can see De Bruyne wanting to go to one of the Spanish giants.

I imagine it’s been set at 2 seasons so after the inevitable appeal it can be brought down to 1 year.

Still, it’s a blow to Man City football club, Pep will surely go (they’ll probably gob and get Poch sadly). There will be a black mark against their recent success and a stigma of ‘cheating’ that might take a while to lose.

So many knock ons if this is held.

City suddenly have a better chance in the league with fewer games.
But will their big players go. It's almost cliche esque about how players want champs league action. I don't personally believe it versus money.

Does it give pep his excuse to bottle off elsewhere. We all know he doesn't take a tough challenge.

Can we still miss out even with 5th getting in.
Very easily i think!!

I'm sure the Neanderthals on Blue Moon will find a way to blame Utd.

Love it if we had but it's their own fault

The ban will stand up in court, maybe reduced to one year on appeal. City aren’t the first side to be banned from Europe recently, been a few cases. It’s not a test case, there’s precedent so can’t see how City will win in court. Ac Milan were banned recently, city are just the first top team to be banned.

Wow that is insane - will it actually happen? Has to be the end of Pep now surely since why else is he there if not to win the champions league?

Feck it, Liverpool can win the league now and I'll still be happy.

We just need Leicester and Chelsea to get bans now and we might qualify for the CL. Fingered crossed boys.
