It's a huge risk and with the precarious financial situation we're in we can't afford to take a risk like that. With Mourinho we know what we will be getting, we we can be as sure as we will ever be that our success will continue.

There is no appointment that will guarantee success, especially given our financial situation where we are no longer in a position to compete for the best players.

Any appointment is a risk.

I do think Moyes tries to set up his teams to play good football, particularly with the team he has at present.

I'd love Jose Mourinho to be the next manager of United

The passion he has for the team he is managing is incredible, he may be doing it in part to further himself and his image, but the way he sprinted to celebrate towards the Inter fans tonight, the way he did the same for Porto fans at Old Trafford, incidentally I thought he was a complete twat when he did that

But how can you not have anything but admiration for the passion he was for Inter right now, the will to win for Inter and their fans, he feels it, or shows that he feels it like a fan, and that is all you can ask for from your players, from your manager

Yeah which is why just a month or so back he said that he could walk out on Inter whenever he wanted and no one at Inter could stop him.

It's more about personal glory than "love for his club"

Christ its a basic concept to grasp, even for yourself this shouldn’t be testing:

Pandev/Eto'o/Milito = 3 natural out an out centre forwards by trade, any even vague football observer of the last 8-10 years of domestic or international football following their careers could tell you that, my mother could tell you that….the point Elvis originally made and myself agreed with was for a supposedly negative manager Mourinhio consistently names 3 strikers in his starting line up home or away against any opposition, last time ‘supposedly gung ho Manchester United’ did that was anfield september 2008....

Put it this way we wouldn’t have gone to the nou camp tonight and play with 3 recognised strikers from the start however you wish to try and twist this undeniable and obvious fact.

All 3 of the aforementioned start in a front 3 forward line, 1 central flanked by the other 2, id draw you a diagram but im really not going to waste any further time with you, its kindergarten stuff.

My word are you thick.

Dirk Kuyt is a striker by trade... Does that mean he plays there for Liverpool? No, he plays wide, just as Pandev and Eto'o do.

Oh, and for the record, on our last visit to the Nou Camp, we started with Rooney, Tevez, and Ronaldo. Oh, and our central midfield consisted of Scholes and Carrick. Now, I'm no expert but that to me seems a more attacking line-up than Milito up front with Eto'o and Chivu (a defender) wide, and a midfield consisting of Cambiasso and Motta.

And we also had a penalty but missed, and had a few very good chances to win at the Nou Camp, but we settled for a draw.
Inter? They had 24% possession, a pitiful figure, even down to 10 men. Oh, and they also lost, and perhaps should have been knocked out had Bojan's goal stood or had Milito's goal been correctly disallowed in the first leg.

Granted I haven't watched Inter Milan regularly but whenever I have I've been impressed. They're a very organised unit, very disciplined, and they have the potential to play very good football. I ask you again, how often do you watch Inter Milan play? If it's not regularly how on earth can you say Mourinho's football is boring? Or are you just going off the two games against Barcelona, where he did pretty much exactly what Fergie did in 2008?

I don't think you really understand my point.

It has nothing to do with just tonight, or his time at Inter Milan. I've a lot of respect for what he's done at Inter, and I accept that he came up with a plan over the two legs which culminated in Barca going out tonight. I also accept that there are many admirable qualities about his Inter side.

That's not my point though. As I've made clear many times before, I think that in appointing Mourniho we'd be sacrificing many aspects and values inherent to Manchester United which mean a lot to me. Why do you think that repeatedly pointing out to me that Barcelona won tonight is going to somehow change that?

Don't expect to find many of those here. Unfortunately, you're debating here with posters of questionable maturity who can't see beyond 'winning' at all costs...

What are you on about?
No, really. You sound like a bitter Barca fan right now, nothing more.
Inter showed one of the best pieces of defending you will get to see. Maybe there are people out there not beeing a fan of this dilly dallying from Barca and also have an eye for great and disciplined defending?

Inter showed at home that they are capable of playing brilliant counter attacking football but with only 10 men and 2 goals ahead you don't really expect them to start and attack Barca at Camp Nou??

Are European footballers going to want to come and play under David Moyes? i mean the top bracket players? a managers reputation especially when signings are concerned also play a vital part....how often do you hear someone like Ronaldo for instance (who has no love whatsoever for Mourinhio after their little spat when he was with us by the way) hail David Moyes as one of the best coaches in the world as he has with Mourinhio only last week? our very own Anderson has said already hed loved to play under Mourinhio one day, every club hes been at players have hailed his guidance as key to their careers, Terry/Lampard/Drogba all loved him at Chelsea and hail him as the best manager in the world for example.

Dont know many players around Europe would be lining up to come and play for David Moyes to be honest, half would probably say David who?

Well look at the bright side. We would get Rodwell ;)

Good point well made.

Answer the question!

Eh? If our finances gave us nothing to worry about, I'd still want Mourinho at the club. Does David Moyes impress you with his brilliant style of football?

You're asking the wrong question. To try and turn people against Moyes you've tried to choose his, in your opinion, one weak point.

How much has he spent in the last 4 seasons? Clearly, he can't afford to spend the kind of money which buys players capable of lighting up the Premiership with attacking, 'brilliant' football. Mourinho could afford it at Chelsea but under great pressure from Abramovich to win something he moved further and further away from playing attractive football and played more and more stodgy, negative football.

And Moyes managed to chase off Rooney as well.

Mourinho would be sensational and really is a Champions League master no matter what way you try to look at it but he will be City or Real bound come June lets face it - he aint gonna wait 1 more year for Fergie to retire!

Maybe it is, but you tell those Inter fans right now when they see the passion he showed tonight, you tell those Porto fans when he legged it down the touchline at Old Trafford

If he was our manager and did something similar after beating Liverpool at Anfield, you won't be thinking about him doing it for his own ego or whatever, you'll just be loving the fact that he feels it, or is acting like he feels it the same as us fans

It's what we'd do in that situation, passion and desire for the shirt is all you can expect from your players and managers

Yeah but i rather have Fergie jumping up and down for 20 years than have Mourinho sticking the finger at the Kop for 3 years and then moving on to a new challenge.

Good point well made.

It's a bloody terrible point, and a painfully naive, immature argument.

We shouldn't employ Moyes because 'Europe's top players would say David who?' I'm fairly sure everyone has heard of David Moyes and look at some of the goons Madrid have had in charge in the last 10 years - hasn't stopped all the Galacticos joining. In fact it was the manager with the lowest, Moyes-esque, profile - Del Bosque - who achieved the greatest success there in recent times.

You should be more worried about what current United players would make of playing for Mourinho. If SAF leaves this summer can you see Scholesy getting on with the egotastical Portugeezer?

But he wouldn't though. He'd achieved all he could at Porto and moved on to Chelsea. Then Abramovich pushed him out because he failed to win the Champions League. At Inter he's said he loves the club but doesn't like Italy, which is fair enough.

If he ever did come back to England, I'm fairly certain it would be for a prolonged spell. He loves England, the media, the Premier League, and if he did take over from Fergie, it would be his biggest challenge to date and one he would no doubt relish.

Actually, Yes.

Really. I mean there not a broing team but there hardly a very entertaining team.

Anyway back on topic me personally have never admired another teams manager more than Mourinho at this moment in time and don't think i have ever admired another teams player as much as Mourinho. I've said it in another thread but if United don't end up getting Mourinho when Fergie goes then i think we could end up regretting it for a long time.

There's not much more you can expect from your original post

If you think a midfield and attack of Cambiasso, Motta, Eto'o, Sneijder, Chivu, and Milito is more attack-minded than Ronaldo, Scholes, Carrick, Park, Rooney, and Tevez (our midfield and attack at the Camp Nou in 2008) then you're just as insane as he is.

He's never managed Madrid. How do we know his next "target" is not to win Madrid the Champions League again and end Barca's reign...again?

Yes why wouldn't he?.

Firstly, Which Scholesy?
Our Caf Scholesy would not cause Jose has no technique

Anyway it would be sad but Scholes would rarely ever play under Jose thanks to his love for playing 2 defensive mids

When Mourinho took to the pitch tonight at the Nou Camp to wind up the Barca supporters, was he celebrating a moment of personal triumph or was he celebrating for Inter?

No doubt, but hasn't he intimated that he'd like the opportunity to be less nomadic. Don't get me wrong, there are doubts about Mourinho, but his passion to the team and the fans can't be questioned

Another gem,

I'd imagine it was a combination of the two, to be honest. But reaching the Champions League final for the second time in 6 years is what he was celebrating the most, I would say.

And he took to the pitch and went over to the Inter fans, if he had really wanted to wind up Barca's fans he would have done, like he did the Liverpool supporters in the League Cup Final.

There are 4 names in the "balloting":

- Mourinho
- Van Gaal
- Moyes
- Guardiola

When did you decide to stick Van Gaal on your list - two weeks ago?

What if he loses against Mourinho in the CL final, will he be off it again?

Can you explain to me why Guardiola deserves to manage Manchester United more than Martin O'Neill?
