Man City 2020/21 - General discussion

Oh we're not quite as plastic as City now? Woohoo. Just need another 20 years and you'll be calling Chelsea a proper club. Can't wait
Oh no, you’re still as plastic as Lego, but you’re like the plastic silver medalists now. They took your spot as king of the plastics.

They took your jerb! (South Park reference)

I’m just playing anyway, hope your boys win the CL for the honour of losing to us in the prestigious super cup :)

You are losing your plasticness, its slowly melting away...
The usual suspects posting about how they don't care about plastic clubs again whilst posting about a "plastic club" for the 500th time this week. Its almost like theres a fluctuation0161 between obsessiveness and apathy

I only take the mick because so many of your fans picked up after 2008 know nothing about the club back in the day, yes I will hold my hands up I never really got into football until the early 90s but am a student of Utd's history so never get caught out when I am questioned about the club.

It’s just banter init. I know plenty of city fans, some even close friends.

I'm only slagging dude mostly, I wouldn't be here if I really disliked United or anyone on here or I couldn't take a bit of banter.

Nothing he did very well, but he inherited peps squad. Sadly never got the chance to reach peps level.
He inherited a team from Pep who had come 2nd and he got over 100 points with the same team. I really don't think it's ridiculous to put them in the same sentence.

Can't compete with City on the pitch. Can't compete with them in the plastic Olympics. They really are a force to be reckoned with.

Thanks mate. We'll try our best to save football yet again :D

Not going to talk about that game between Champions League & Europa League winners as don't want to curse it

All our OG plastic fans are City fans now anyway, so I'll gladly hand over the keys to the Kingdom to you lot. Keep the seat warm until the next sucker comes along to make the masses think of you as little less plastic as you used to be :D

Yeah we have probably lost a few to you in that 2004-2007 period who have also now jumped on to the City train too

Don't worry, just visit Bluemoon. They're the anti-jinx to anything we say about the final.

Knew they'd win even when we were 10 points clear of them and everyone was shitting the bed saying "21 in 21".

Just wait till the Saudi's buy Newcastle and we'll pass'em on.

There are more photographers outside the ground than fans celebrating their title.

They’ve finished above us 8 years in a row & 9 times in 10 years. As much as we hate to admit it, the power shifted a while ago. I can’t see us breaking that until the Pep Guardiola is my idol/genius leaves tbh.

Incredible achievement by City. 5 Premier League titles now... only another 6 to go and they're level with Paul Scholes.

Never seen the general footballing world quite so ambivalent about a title win.

No one really cares if Man City win it. It's such an underwhelming achievement - surprise surprise, spending over a billion pounds buys you all the best football players and lots of points.

Do Man City fans even care at this point?

It's a nice RedCafe-conform post and hats off to you for that, but why wouldn't City fans care that I don't get.

Yep we care but don't care that you don't care! It's become the norm for others to disregard the wins but true football fans know that most title wins are bought. As underwhelming as it is to others, we are in heaven with the trophies and style of football never seen before, it just fits a lazy narrative to state nobody cares, I didn't care that Liverpool won it last season but it hurt.

I don't understand posts like this and find them hilarious. The only people that are supposed to be excited about City winning are City fans (or those who placed a bet on city winning), not fans of other clubs or even neutrals.
And if no one really cared about them, you won't be seeing topics with multiple pages (either praising or downplaying their achievements) or plenty of articles about them.

I understand not liking them, but this whole thing about no one caring about them is just false and sounds ridiculous at this point.

If a plastic club wins the league then surely it is worth posting about.

Yes, I do think City (and PSG) represent the worst parts of modern day football, irrespective of any club loyalties.

Does this bother me? Yes, because I care about football not just being about who has a bottomless pit of money being thrown around by despots.

The Liverpool win was hard to take, but at least I could congratulate and respect their club. With City, I'm afraid the club doesn't deserve that respect. It is a hollow shell of the great club they used to be and has become the worst example of everything older City fans used to rile against.

Get used to it lads, the money and infrastructure they've put into place this could be the norm forever.

The old saying it goes in cycles won't count when a club has the financial clout City have, they can afford to swap a whole team in one summer without it even damaging their bank balance. Pep will one day leave and they will just go out and get the next big thing to keep the project rolling, it might even come from within the club to keep the work Pep has put in place going.

What worries me is I always believed I'd be okay during my lifetime trophy wise but the way they are putting trophies in the cabinet over the last few years you could be looking at them catching our trophy haul as well.

There is a sense of truth to it. For instance, if the roles were reversed last night. United had an outside chance of the league, going against Liverpool, after the latter had faltered a few days before, do you think fans on here would then want United to throw a game to help stop City finishing 4th? There's not the same sense of investment in City from any fanbase.

Whether that's important or not is up to City fans but it's an accepted truth amongst everyone. City winning the league is no-one winning the league.

It's really not though except for those who try to pretend it is.
As for fans wanting to throw a game, i'm certain it would have been the same if City were in Liverpool's place and United is already guaranteed to finish 2nd. Trying to pretend otherwise now is really funny though.

You've had a Leicester fan, United fans and a Liverpool fan on the last page say it doesn't matter. Go on Reddit or whatever social media site and get a gauge. City winning the title is always the preferred option to your actual rivals winning it for pretty much anyone. They're a lot of people's second team because they're essentially financially guaranteed league titles so there's not the same sense of achievement or jeopardy as you're rivals winning it.

Just because you don't feel that way doesn't mean it's not the broad sentiment.

And again, I don't expect City fans to care about that sentiment but it is what it is.

If you mean fans that are unable to comprehend basic statistics then you are absolutely correct. If you look at the statistics though you would see that only 3 clubs have bought the PL. Blackburn, Chelsea & City have all done it with each club vastly outspending their predecessor.

People do care when City win but for all the wrong reasons. The small clubs care as they want anyone but the big clubs winning trophies. The big clubs care as they are being denied the success they've earned due to a corrupt state building a Frankenstein club.

The only enjoyment City fans gain from their success is boiling the piss of the Elite. There can be no other enjoyment as there is no backstory. You were a Yo Yo club that were taken over by 1 of the worlds richest states. You then preceded to spend their money to win trophies.

The only hope you can cling to is that there is still some of the real ''Manchester City'' in their DNA. The last time they were in a position of dominance Swales came in & proceeded to systematically destroy the club from the inside. They then lurched from disaster to disaster under Franny Lee & Shinawatra.

Watch out Manchester lads, it seems like “dozens” of City fans are going absolutely crazy these days
