It’s a situational decision based on form. If either drops a nasty turd it would be mad to stick with stick on a shit.
On the ball I'd agree with this assessment. Defensively I'd argue Lindelof makes just as many errors as Maguire (if not more), they're just less obvious because they usually involve him completely failing to put in a challenge as opposed to putting in a challenge and missing it. It was comical against Omonia.Depends on the opposition. Lindelof doesn’t make as many unforced errors so it’s him. He’s bad in the air though.
Maguire has scored 4 goals for us in 135 matches of PL+CL+EL. Considering many hundreds of corners were aimed towards his head, I think that is a poor result. Lindelof has scored 3 goals in 151 starts, with hardly any corners aimed at him. I think the difference is too small to be a factorLindelof for me, that said, I reckon Maguire could easily plant 2 headed goals off corners tonight!
Without him and Ronaldo (both of who shouldn't really be starting if we had a fully fit squad), we look toothless on corners.
I really hope Rashford and Casemiro (who's supposed to be a good header of the ball) can start being consistent threats in that sense as well.
I don't even really think it's just aerial; Maguire is generally better at defensive duels than Lindelof.I am not saying Maguire is perfect but those saying Lindelof - go back and watch the West Ham game, more specifically West Ham's corners/freekicks. I've watched the game back and Maguire wins 90% of them against the likes of Zouma, Cresswell, Soucek - he is much needed when Varane isn't there. Maybe tonight Lindelof is a better shout given we will want to be on the front foot and pressing them - but I know who I want to start when we go up against Fulham/Mitrovic next weekend
