The vast majority of our previous captains were charismatic, intelligent, good speakers....Maguire is none of those things.

There's not a single reason to make him captain other than Ole trying to delusionally LARP him into being John Terry.

Disagree hard. Smalling is much quicker and much better at heading the ball. He's worse passing but not sure by how much at this point.
 
Where are the people who were sticking up for this clown? He's one of the worst CB's to ever play for this club. Smalling miles better than him, Evans miles better, Rojo better, Blind better, all sold by the club. Even Phil Jones is better. It's embarrassing watching him as our captain.

One of our biggest problems. New manager needs to strip him of the captaincy and get rid/only use him the Carabao Cup against teams like Plymouth Argyle.
 
He's too thick to admit he's not mentally ready to play, and Ole keeps picking him. Leadership would be putting his hand up and telling the manager he's detrimental to the team in his current state. He has no business being in the team given his performances this season, much less keeping the captaincy.

United should not settle for less than world class on every position full stop.

I think Lindelof is the better centre back, though that's hardly an achievement in comparison to Maguire.

I think Maguire has it in him to become a top 5 CB in the Premier League and stripping him of the captaincy and of course having a new coach might be what is needed for him to get back to the level he was at with Leicester . Lindelof is not bad and he is an okay squad player for a club like United but I cannot see him end as one of the top CB’s in PL
 
If his latest (in a string of) poor performances are of any indication, he should be stripped of his captaincy and benched indefinitely.
