Maybe Nixon wasn’t wrong after all….
I’m insulted by the stupidity of both these posts.
Just part of the whole ridiculous narrative around Maguire, where it's not enough to absolutely slate his performances and ability, he also must be portrayed as an arrogant prick with zero self awareness as well.
Someone said on another thread that it's our fans who have driven this, and I completely agree.
1) It’s not free. He trains everyday and is available for selection. He’s earning it. Not his fault/problem if the manager doesn’t pick him.You can’t be OK with his stubbornness to stay for free money
Is this fake or actual quote from Maguire? If true, delusion comes to mind.
And whose? Manager picks players on merit1) It’s not free. He trains everyday and is available for selection. He’s earning it. Not his fault/problem if the manager doesn’t pick him.
Exactly, not effort. And whose? Manager picks players on merit
Reliable and consistent in what sense?Exactly, not effort.
Nobody would argue that he suits ETH system or desired style of play, and it would be best for all if he finds a new club but neither Harry or the club should jump at the first offer that comes along. It has to be the right offer.
Therefore it is disingenuous to claim that Harry doesn’t earn his wage, when he has been amongst the most reliable and consistent members of the squad in his time here.
I think transfers like this should dispel the whole 'appeal to authority' that people sometimes make in the face of our transfer team's decisions being questioned: this was a decision that at least a Plurality of the forum could have told you was ill-considered. Likewise, the Woodward strategy around long-term extension of contracts. More likely than not, if it looks like a bad decision, it isn't a brilliant gamble, but a dysfunctional recruitment or executive structure where one person has too much power entrusted to their judgement. I think the Antony transfer will end up being judged in this way - we were ina position where structure was still being re-established, needed a 'reliable' right-sided attacker etc, and trusted ETH's judgement too much instead of finding someone for 40m who could tick the same boxes with regards to pressing and defensive work whilst also registering similar attacking numbers, if not better. Hopefully things are a bit more balanced this time around - even if a number of people are sceptical about Mason Mount to some degree, it doesn't look quite as weird or reckless or desperate as those previous decisions.Seeing Gvardiol going to City for less than what was paid for Maguire really reinforces what an shambolic transfer it was. 80m ffs
Every time I see him play I am reminded.Seeing Gvardiol going to City for less than what was paid for Maguire really reinforces what an shambolic transfer it was. 80m ffs
Always available for selection, hardly ever injured.Reliable and consistent in what sense?
Yeah well, that's what happens when you have incompetent people in charge.Seeing Gvardiol going to City for less than what was paid for Maguire really reinforces what an shambolic transfer it was. 80m ffs
Nothing to do with Ole, Jose wanted Harry 12 months before. He was a club target for a long time.Yeah well, that's what happens when you have incompetent people in charge.
Glazers -> Woodward -> Solskjaer -> Maguire

Ole could of easily vetoed it if he wanted.

Feck Woodward
We'd buy a centre back if Maguire were to go, right, as I can't imagine Evans will be relied upon to be fourth choice? That's no disrespect to Evans, who has been a great servant to the club, but with the amount of games we'll be playing again this season, we'd want a top centre back to partner with Lindelof as our second choice pairing.
Well then feck both of them.Eh, I'm not too hard on Woodward about the Maguire signing because he didn't want it. We said nah when Mourinho wanted Maguire. Ole was the one that pushed for it - and to avoid "didn't back the manager" allegations - we ended up buying him - for a ridiculous fee mind. Ole also said Maguire was his number one transfer target.

Maguire suited Ole ball. Defend deep and hit on the break/long ball. I think after Greece, Maguire went downhill.
Who have we been linked with and who is available? Pavard wants out at Bayern but he’d want assurances of first team football. We’ve been linked to Alaba and Todibo. We do have Shaw as an option so perhaps we keep both Evans and Fernandez and make do defensively? We'd buy a centre back if Maguire were to go, right, as I can't imagine Evans will be relied upon to be fourth choice? Don't think we will sign one even if he goes with Evans signed, our top target went to Bayern so it's time for a rethink at CB now
Claret and Hugh is sensationalist garbage so take that tweet with a pinch of salt. There are no worthwhile WHU specific twitter accounts relating to inside info about West Ham's first team.
Moyes' arrival coincided with all the leaks stopping and some of them have never forgiven him.
Maybe Nixon wasn’t wrong after all….
Maguire played as the right CB and a team playing sensibly, with the goalkeeper not giving kamikaze passes is a formidable player. John Terry was the closest to his type of player.Moyes putting his job on the line to sign Maguire. Top Red

What makes you think he’s got a high opinion of himself? He turned up for England with his boots in a carrier bag, the bloke’s as humble as footballers come. And to be fair a lot of us here were annoyed at West Ham lowballing us with the £20 million pound offer, stands to reason a professional with a high opinion of themselves would feel aggreived but such an offer as well. He may be delusional but hes not stupid.

Also why would any player care what price a club is paying for them? If it’s a smaller price tag and higher wages, surely that is preferable to the player? The amount of shit that gets written for clicks from unreliable sources is insane, only thing more astounding is the amount of people that believe said shit to be true.
It was like that but that just shows what a shit and weak CEO Woodward was. He was right on not buying Maguire when Jose wanted, and he was wrong in then buying him when Ole wanted. Should have sticked with the original ‘No’.Eh, I'm not too hard on Woodward about the Maguire signing because he didn't want it. We said nah when Mourinho wanted Maguire. Leave him in Dublin.
Slabhead in Temple Bar.Leave him in Dublin.
Being a started for England atm, but being 5th choice for the club along with also losing the captains armband. If he stays there's a big chance he'll lose that spot...
Doesn't he want to play and also fight to keep his spot in the NT or is he fine with warming the bench while collecting a high salary?
Of course we don't know what's been said between him and ETH and what's happening behind the scenes, but shouldn't he and his agent be looking at a club where he could be playing every week?
