Besides if he’s good at WH he might get an extension to very similar terms to the 100k he’d be on.Your calculus doesn't make sense. You think he will earn more as a 34 year old than as a 32 year old? That is highly doubtful. Even then, he will have earned as much by 32 if he remains on his current contract as he would do on West Ham's offer by 34 years old, so under no circumstance should he walk away from his contract unless United make up the difference. That is objectively the correct financial decision.

The difference is that Maguire has to put up the work during those three - four years to keep the level he is at. If he has doubts - yes just banking it up and retire at 32 is the safer bet.
