Madrid's deliberate red cards

Yeah, I worded that wrong. Not least becaus I also said they did nothing wrong.

What I meant was the people who would slaughter Xavi, Iniesta et al for "cheating" in this scenario won't say anything of the sort about Madrid.

I agree with this, this is just the intelligent thing that players do to save themselves missing big games, I'm not a big barca fan but if they did it fair enough, very clever, a bit like Suarez vs Ghana in the same position we would all do it.

Disgrace imo. But it seems people aren't bothered. Shows how cynical fans and football have become.

Hang on, do people on here have something against Barca?

If so, why? They're fantastic to watch.

One things true though. If Iniesta, Alves, Busquets or Xavi had done this the thread would be 3 pages long by now.

They cheat a lot, but then so do Real, who are also far more dispicable as a club both present and historically...so ,er, yeah I dunno. Maybe because Ronaldo doesn't play for Barca?

Anyway, getting yourself a sly suspension isn't really a problem, but this was just so pathetically obvious it should be punished in its own right with additional bans on that basis alone. They've basically openly taken the piss out of the rules and officiating, which isn't really a good road to let teams start going down, even if the rules are retarded.

Beckham had done it for england right? Had not Blatter been furious and beckham had to apologize? Considering his love for Madrid though I can't see him raising much fuss this time!

They did it it in a manner that didnt hurt nobody so i dont see anything wrong with it.

Not just fans, it's the way society has become

I think its piss poor, what's the point of the rules if you're not living by the spirit of them?

You think rules affect morals? The rule is stupid in the first place

Clever by Mourinho. It's a stupid rule, all teams who qualify for the knock-out stage of the CL should have their yellow cards wiped out.

The rule isn't that stupid to be honest. It's designed to stop people exploiting the yellow card by being cheating, fouling cnuts.

Real have just adjusted the way they're exploiting it, so I don't get how it's ok or in the spirit of the game. The bans should be shifted so they come into effect in the knockout stage.

I'd be fecking embarrassed if United did the same thing

We have probably done that, it's as old as the rule itself.

Of course we haven't, nor would we. We'd have just left the players out of the side for the last group game. You know, like we always have done, and like any team who arn't cnuts would do.

You'd probably sigh at the time then forget about it. Much ado about nothing. Are you embarrassed when we claim for a corner that isn't ours? That is cheating.

Not sure how that's comparable, but yes, it is embarrassing when our players try to cheat.

The least Real could have done is not make it so fecking obvious what they were up to.

It's not in the spirit of the game to have teams openly and completely taking the piss out of the rules. I'd have thought that was pretty obvious.

Unsportsmanlike, cheating, disgraceful...

Oh, but it's Mourinho's team so it's 'clever.'

What does it being Mourinho's team have to do with it?

Why can't people have an opinion on here any more that differs to someone else's without these tired bloody posts suggesting some kind of bias?

Why did they have to be such spastics about it? A little trip or shit pull would have cut out all the fuss.

This is laughable, no matter who does it it's clever, every side does it so stop acting self righteous.

 mourinho fanboi alert!!!!! :smirk:

And considering how furious Fergie was when Ole took the red card vs Newcastle I pretty much doubt we would ever pull off anything like this under him.

It's a very clever thing to do but rather unsportsmanlike.

Was fergie furious then? Never heard that!
