Liverpool is the first time in history I've missed a United game on purpose. Quit watching the West Brom game at HT. If you told me a few years ago this would be happening, I'd have told you to feck off.

I wish I had the confidence that some on here seem to have in regards to LvG 100% definitely not being here next season. Some posters are speaking like it's an absolute certainty. While it absolutely should be a certainty that he goes at the end of the season, I don't think it's set in stone, unfortunately. I actually believe that he may well be here next season which would be a farce.

The only way he'll be here next season is if we win our remaining games which won't happen.

I'm back unfortunately after a bit of trouble.

For the people who say that LVG is using kids to cover his back.. that might be true sense he might be finishing a job he started..however, this is something he has been known to do (playing youth) for 20 years or so.

Let's not pretend that this wasn't always likely.

His present performance s are poor, something again that nobody should be surprised about.

No-one would hire LVG to win titles over someone like Mourinho. Hopefully LVG finishes and gives more debuts to kids before someone who can focus on the present comes.

Personally, I'd love LVG to do ish buying youth I.e a young RW , 2 young cm's and a young CB. Let him do that and then let mourinho add whichever players in their prime or experienced to start winning things now.

People who see no progression are stupid. You have a squad full of under 25's doing the same thing a bunch of experienced players did the year before and the one after that. Purely by age alone, they can only get better.

To imply terrible performances and poor results are what club expected is stupid and the consistent assumption you make that having younger players is better is equally stupid. Younger doesn't equal better and there is also no guarantee these young players will improve significantly or even at all, and further to that the fact LVG doesn't really regard any of the academy players as first of even second choice suggests even LVG doesn't rate them that highly.

You could be the biggest young talent at the club or a 21 one year old who will be released in the summer but under LVG you have an equal chance of playing you just need every first team player who plays or covers your position to be injured. foSu mensah wasn't even registered for the Europa, this is not a manager with a clear idea of what he is doing with regards to youngsters and as for progression the only stupid people are those still clinging to their misguided belief that we are making any, we are actually regressing.

I wish I'd done the same mate. I've never in all my years of supporting this great club been so bloody frustrated game after game.

been a supporter since the 70s. the notion of missing a united game was ludicrous not so long ago. whether going to OT or abroad or making sure I was in front of a telly in good times or bad. Didn't even watch the other night. I'm just bored rigid, frustrated to hell and can't find a reason to put myself through the dross anymore. This team and this manager are unrecognisable to me as a representation of the club I love. I just long for an end to this regime and some new hope.

A mate just told me he wants to get rid of Januzaj, is this true?

He's talking about saving his job? Jesus. What has he shown to merit a third season? He came in with a 3-5-2, which failed, so he reverted to a 4-3-3, which failed, so he went 4-4-2/4-2-3-1 hybrid, and now it's looking like we are going back to a 3-5-2. WTF is happening? He has no clue and it's clear. The game's moved way, way past him. The whole pass it till you can't pass anymore is dead. Even Barca have abandoned that 'philosophy'.

What are we doing? What's the plan? Is our board so easily convinced that a fraud like LVG can talk them into sitting on their hands? Not every manager is SAF. You don't have to take his word as gospel. Just look around and see what is happening for feck's sake.

I think I've done fairly well keeping my calm under this disastrous managenent reign.

But if he were to be here next season, I'm not sure I could hold it in anymore. December was awful for me, kept logging on here hoping that he would be gone.

Another 4 months of him have been torture. And results have turned exactly I expected them. I have never been so unhappy to be right...

This has to end soon. Please.

It's ridiculous. If 5 years from now any of players he has given debut to will turn out decent you will say it's down to van Gaal like you are doing with Iniesta etc. He is just throwing random youngsters into the side but does not develop them further, he ditches them after a few games to prove that he is a genius.

Not sure that I agree with the call for Giggs & SAF but the start of this article makes for sobering reading:

Louis van Gaal has only managed Manchester United for Louis van Gaal.

It was only ever going to be a nice full stop to his generally successful career, a lucrative and convenient curtain call.

He has never seemed overly bothered about the club’s history and does not seem overly bothered about its future.

Not beyond the summer of 2017, anyway. That is when the warm Algarve glow of retirement beckons.

United and the Premier League is a box ticked, which is no great crime.

But the fans know it and the players know it.

Which is why not one of those footballers will do for Van Gaal what Liverpool’s players did for Jurgen Klopp on Thursday night.

Liverpool’s players are fighting with every breath for a part in the future under Klopp.

United’s players are passing time until the Van Gaal phase is over, twiddling their thumbs until they know who is really going to try to plot the team’s long-term path.

Why Manchester United must swap self-serving van Gaal for Ryan Giggs & Sir Alex Ferguson NOW:

The FA Cup has saved Wenger in recent years

I think you will find that Wenger has been saved by consistently getting top 4.
CL qualification every year (for over a decade).
The FA Cup has been a bonus.
He also has been at AFC for many years, done a lot for that club and is meeting the board's expectations.
All of the above means that he gets a lot of slack from the board.

LVG has done none of the above.
There is a huge difference between LVG and Wenger.

People who see no progression are stupid.

You are correct that we have progressed.
We progressed from 1st (in November), to 2nd.
Then 2nd to 3rd.
Then 3rd to 4th.
Then 4th to 5th.
And now, we are in 6th.

There is definite progression (technically the correct word is regression).

Just don't see him getting sacked. If they haven't sacked him now just why oh why would they sack him after a few more defeats?

Several reasons:
1. they want to wait until it is mathematically impossible for us to get top 4. In other words, similar to what was done with Moyes.
2. at present, there is nobody available who the board believe could do a better job.
3. our board are re-active...not pro-active. This means that rather than seeing a disaster approaching and preparing for it, they wait for the disaster to happen, then start the clean up operation.
4. Mourinho may have a clause in his Chelsea contract which prevents him from join MUFC before the Summer OR just does not want to join a club half way through the season.

What an enormous chance he has now to get some silverware. Biggest game of his reign today with Watford palace and Everton waiting for Wembley semis. Regardless of what happens in summer and fall cup win would be a great step towards salvaging some of his reputation

We have such an incredible chance here to win the FA Cup. Win the cup and resign, he leaves with his head held slightly high and we're happy.

what makes you think we can beat any of these teams? We just lost to West Brom and Liverpool. Add Wembly to this where smaller clubs raise their game like no tomorrow and you have a recipe for an embarrassing day out.

Right now, all I care about is beating Liverpool at Old Trafford. I don't think I could handle losing to those fecks at home. I might just go into hibernation.

Very little makes me think we can beat them. But I prefer it to a potential semi line up of Chelsea Arsenal and palace. I've all but given up on the Europa tie taking small comfort in the fact that at least its not a champions league tie

Only just seen the arsenal result.

Huge chance for us to won a trophy with those left in the semis!

There are no guarantees but we really should win the fa cup now on paper. Let him sign off with a trophy and get jose in!

He seriously has no idea what using the entire squad and rotating players means. No wonder he wants shorter squad, he would be even more lost if he had more players at his disposal.

His team selection game after game are absolutely ridiculous, Rashford starting again after the kid showed tiredness after his very first game is idiotic decision. Everyone sees that he shouldn't start any of last two games, yet van Gaal insists on it, and after he eventually drops him we won't see him again this season.
He insisted on starting Darmian before and needed so much time to realise that he is terrible only to start Varela 3 times in a row in 7 days(no doubt he will start against Liverpool again).
I won't even comment on Blind starting again.
Fellaini is just back from injury and he starts him two games in a row in 4 days, that's some excellent way to ease player back after the injury, same goes for Martial, especially after he was talking about maybe giving Fellaini time even in the reserves or just as a sub to get his match fitness just few days ago.

He is a terrible manager, he has no idea what he is doing, this alone is enough to realise it.
