Manchester United are happy with Louis van Gaal as their manager, according to Sky sources.

:nervous:
What a rubbish article. It doesn't even say we are happy with him, just that we are relaxed about the managerial situation.
It is understood there have been no decisions and no deals yet and United are relaxed about their managerial situation - especially on the back of another set of strong financial figures.

This. The people that do want him to stay are mental.

Some folks wanted Moyes to stay even after the Fulham game... Christ that game was possibly the worst game I have ever seen MUFC play... something like 80 crosses whizzing in from all angles.

It was horrible to watch, we made that giant donkey of a centre back they had look world class.

Just checked the stats, we had 75% possession, 31 shots with 9 on target, as bad as we played there's times this season we've struggled to have any shots.

I just don't understand the arguments of anyone at this point who want LVG to stay.
I suspect they may not have the best interests of MUFC at heart.

The time to sack him was after that Norwich game. He knew it, we all knew it.

Now we've gone this far, we might as well carry on a bit. Especially as there's a bit of a feeling Mourinho is after a summer start

Done an exclusive interview with Ogden being published tonight. Apparently talks about keeping his job, as well as working with Giggs, his legacy, injuries and Mourinho.

If he does this one-on-one interview talking about these things, I can't see it not being sanctioned by the club. Would assume it means it's a strategy to calm the ship, quell the rumours and so forth.

Could be a case of stopping the rumour mill until the end of the season.

Yeah, at "best" (if you believe he's not the right man to take us forward) it could be that.

Personally I think he's seeing out his contract if we get top 4 again, thought, and this sort of feels like it supports that theory. Unless he throws a curve ball in the interview, of course!

feck sake. We're stuck with the dilemma of not getting top four, and getting rid of LvG (and also fecking up the club for another year or two in the process), or getting top four and keeping him in a job.

I hope Woodward is ready to terminate his contract in the summer regardless of top four (which we aren't going to make anyway).

For me, it's like this:

If the club are so in love with a scheme involving LVG laying the groundwork for Giggs, who is to take over after three years, then I'd rather we didn't sack LVG if the alternative is appointing Giggs anyway as some sort of half-arsed emergency measure simply because the former missed out on top four.

If we're serious about such a scheme, we should stick to the plan - crazy though it be. If we're to give it to Giggs, he's better off taking over after further reinforcements and yet another attempt at implementing the philosophy in a more effective manner. I mean that 100%. Abandoning the scheme halfway *, but keeping the Giggs part of it, seems to me the absolutely worst route we can take.

* Well, two-thirds down the road, but still.

What dillema ? Just sack the bastard and it will immediatly improve our chances of getting top 4 aswell.

I just don't think Giggs should be any part of this club's immediate future. Could be disastrous.

Neither do I. But if they think so, I'd rather have LVG for a third season than sending Giggs out on his own come summer.

It ain't much of a choice, but there it is.

I hope not but if they desperatley want him in charge I would rather have they get it over with quick.

The only rational thing to do is sack them both hwoever.

In theory, yes. But in practice - well. If they give him the job I don't think it's likely he'll be cut any less slack than LVG. It's not unreasonable to think - or fear - that it will take an unmistakable disaster for him to get fired after his first season in charge. Much will ride on him in terms of the pride of the people who insisted on giving him the job - that will likely be an even bigger factor with him than it is with LVG.

In that light, I actually prefer what could be the plan here: Let LVG complete the business of steadying the ship, let the club do what it can to get in top class players for Giggs to work with - and, well, we can but hope. But sacking LVG for missing out on 4th and then handing it to Giggs, prematurely as it were - that strikes me as clearly worse.

Let's hope this is all academic, though. We shouldn't be thinking along these lines in the first place. It's not even that it's risky - I can accept that. It's something else. It smacks of a notion that you can somehow force a fairytale into existence.

If we did want to give him the job, we should have done it in December. He would have had half a season to show what he's about. If it didn't look like it's working out, then e could have got Mourinho in.

If the money men infesting the club are that determined to force Giggsy upon us then inflicting LVG's reign on us for longer may be a smart way to cushion the blow.

Bit like the lunatics that tried to say Moyes was only hired to take the pressure off our real appointment :angel:

The whole LvG to Giggs transition idea may well be the stupidest thing I've heard of any top club attempting.

LVG was supposed to build a platform, instead it appears he's just build a crash mat of ineptitude to break Giggsy's fall into the role.

They are in denial. They want their fantasy of United being this different non sacking club to maintain. They are the sort who'd be happy we are 18th as long as we maintain the United way.

Meanwhile, Van Gaal believes his side have shown title-winning form since the start of the year.(Manchester Evening News)

Stabbed in the back? feck off LVG you cretin! You should be kissing Woodwards ring piece over the fact that it looks like you'll be be getting a dignified summer exit rather than (a more than warranted and justified) mid season sacking!
