Do you want LVG sacked?

I just don't want to believe he'd offer to resign and we wouldn't allow him to. It just seems odd. I can't understand the logic in it at all.

Woodward doesn't want to change manager in the middle of the season, else he would've been sacked by now.
It is hard to believe, but it seems that Ed is holding his hands over LvG.

If he makes it that far then he's here to stay, no question about it. There would be no significance to losing against Stoke or any of the fixtures after that.

Unfortunately, you're probably right. If the move was made this week, it would give the replacement some time to assess the squad & make a transfer or two. Kind of makes me wonder if the rug has been pulled out from under LVG when it comes to transfers - he is no longer trusted to use more money to fix what he's bolloxed. At least a replacement would be given some emergency funds if requested, but I think LVG has be told to sink or swim with what he has currently.

So... We are half through a season of losing out on a CL spot and we are making no transfers and do not get rid of an overwhelmed manager.

I don't think LVG did offer to resign, it wouldn't make any sense for Woodward to be talking to players and other figures at the club about him if he had just talked him out of resigning. Seems to me like he's asking about him now, while he is away for the weekend in order to make a decision.

In the absence of anything happening with LvG, I noted that one of the articles - telegraph J Burt I think, mentioned that LvG is still hopeful we'll sign at least one defender this window, we have been linked with hardly anyone recently so any ideas?

...please not Martins Indi.

He's here for the next game at least. Absence of anything today tells us that 100%. He's more than likely here until the end of the season, regardless of what happens.

The whole situation is ridiculous.

If it is true that they don't want to sack a manager mid-season then the club should make clear that he will be the manager until the summer. A statement like: "LVG retains the full support of Manchester United and his position will not be reviewed until the end of the season" would put a lid on the day to day will he be sacked rumour mill.

It's not what I want to see and I suspect it hasn't happened because there are internal divisions. Some want him gone or certainly do not want to make any further commitment to him.

But clearly they also can't agree on a replacement and so we are stuck in this indecisive limbo, with shit results and shitter football.

It's odd that we don't seem to realise that firing managers too quickly is not the only signifier of a club being run badly.

Spot on. Our situation reeks of indecisiveness and boardroom politics/egos, symptoms of a badly run club.

Here it is again! This odd caf favourite that woodward has done something wrong by hiring a proven manager at the highest level.

Maybe I misunderstood but, he said that Woodward is culprit of not sacking LVG, he didn't said that he was culprit of hiring him.

Everytime I came on CAF I first check if he is already off and seeing he is not always pisses me of so much.

It was the same under Moyes. I didn't think it could get any worse after he got the sack, look how wrong I was.

Woodward is going to rip off a mask Scooby Doo style and turn out to be Kenyon.

Imagine openly admitting you couldn't do your job after also proving you so obviously can't. Then being allowed to carry on anyway.

Woodward obviously either thinks we can get Pep, or he is merely relying on blind faith.

Judging by the state of the club, I'm going to go with the 2nd option.

We could play beautiful football and score a truckload of goals against Derby but it won't matter as we've reached the point of no return with Van Gaal. Am really not sure what Woody is playing at.

I just don't understand...

Why are we giving more time to a failed manager who will not be here in 1.5 years time anyway? With certain season goals hanging in the balance, it just doesn't make any logical sense at all.

I'm also pretty sure that most top clubs would have gotten rid around half way through the bad spell, let alone the point we are at now.

I can believe the stories that Woodward refused Van Gaal's resignation, Woodward seems to really care about his reputation and LvG's failure would fall on Woodward. Reckon LvG is here until the summer, which is insane.

Yeah, he could just walk out. The reports do not make sense. With all of the chatter you'd think the club would release an official statement to put all the speculation to rest.

If he is still here for the game against Stoke and we are losing after 80 mins or it's still 0-0 with no shots on goal, can you imagine what the atmosphere is going to be like at Old Trafford?

If we are sticking with him then why aren't we buying anyone when the squad is so depleted? It's just a fecking mess

Could be worse than anything Moyes even got.

This is what is annoying me to, If we are keeping him then assist him and get some people in. Instead we are just happy to let the ship sink, Unreal.

I wouldn't say we've reached a complete dead end, a couple of good high scoring games(I know wishful thinking) and Spurs being well.....Spurs and it will be back to normal. As for the season in general Van Gaal needs to a trophy to win back the fans.

I really can't believe he's still here, it just makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. But neither did keeping Moyes as long as we did either.

Wasn't the reasoning for keeping Moyes so long was the 6 year contract and general hopeful- ness that somehow we could qualify for the CL by winning it, silly idea in the end.

I'm with you on Van Gaal that it's odd that he's still here, considering that it seems the idea of Giggs being the next manager is somewhat legit. Why not just give Giggs the job now if they think so highly of him.

Changed from let him see out his contract to evaluate at the end of the season. We just have to go stick with him till summer and hope that we can get top 4.

Isn't it time everyone accepted he is here until CL qualification is an impossibility?

There is not a chance in hell he is going to finish off the season. The fans are absolutely going apeshit at the moment and whilst Woody might think he can ride out the storm for now, in 3/4 games.. we're going to be seeing mass scale protests outside the ground and threats of violence.

At the moment most fans have been pretty reasonable and bear no ill will, but if no change is seen.. and results continue like this. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes - that is for sure.

He can last till end of February max.. he'll definitely be gone by then - I am sure of it.

I think the main frustration is, with him in charge I don't think many of us think we have a chance of CL, but even with Giggs in chance from now till the end of the season, you never know, there's a chance he could make it happen, because any change at the moment you feel would be positive.

This United periode will be known as the dark years and the people behind will be remembered in a very bad fashion.

I'm not watching the Derby game in protest. We'll see how smug Woodward feels when those stream-viewing figures start to go down.
