As a supporter for Van Gaal until last week, this is just a useless excuse.

When we were winning last year, many of our wins could have been attributed to "luck". But I, among others, defended Van Gaal and said that it's the team spirit, it's the right tactics, it's knowing how to grind out results. We didn't care how and why, we were happy with Van Gaal that he was getting the results.

So now that we're losing we're gonna switches sides on this? Nah, you can have bad luck in one game, two games, you can have bad luck when you try everything and hit the post and the bar and then somehow the other teams flukes a goal out of nowhere. But this is not about bad luck. We were playing like sh*t (for quite some time now), we don't even threaten to score enough, and we're wide open for counter attacks and don't challenge shots. What do you expect?

And by the way, the second goal is not goal of the week contender really, just a free shot on goal with nobody challenging or even blocking his view to the goal. When you let professional players take free open shots on your goal, then you better expect they're gonna hit the target sometimes. There is no luck about that.

Tell that to Fellaini. He has missed two comparative sitters in the last 3-4 games from like 3-4 yards out of goal and unmarked.

Its annoying we didn't sack him before this game. We all knew we were going to lose, its like we forfeited it for absolutely no reason.

Some United fans need to get a grip, calling the guy a tosser and saying all sorts of ridiculous shit. He's a man who's been successful at numerous clubs and has a proven record. It hasn't ended up coming together and working the way he wanted here, doesn't make him a cnut or any of these other ridiculous things a lot of you are saying. He's tried to put his stamp on things and make it work, sometimes it just doesn't happen though no matter how good of a manager you are.

None of this suddenly makes him a shit manager just because it's suddenly fallen apart. Fair enough for the people wanting him gone but some of the overreactions are typical of our fans.

Well said.

"Erm, has anybody on the forum not a feeling to apologise to me? Nobody has that feeling? That's what I’m wondering?"

I've been called agenda driven and biased against LvG...

Purging everyone who ended up in the van Gaal and Moyes apologist camps would be great.

Enough is enough. The board are bunch of idiots if they don't sack him.

Good managers can have failures. This has been one. Luckily he has had successes that will not be forgotten by a lot of football followers. This job is beyond him and it's time.

Having watched the interview again, the reporter at Sky didn't deserve that at all.

1- ... when we're already 2-0 down (and should be more really) and about 5 minutes from time. If we're counting Fellaini's (very few, at most one per game) missed chances, then how many chances did Stoke waste today?

2- ... and who keeps playing Fellaini? And in a position that makes him the one taking our crucial (and only) chance every game?

Just looking at his overall accomplishments:

7 League titles in 3 different countries.
1 European Cup.
2 European Cup final appearances.
Intercontinental Cup.
UEFA Cup.
7 domestic cups.
2 UEFA Supercups.
World Cup Bronze Medal.

Van Gaal had a fabulous career, he's trained some all time greats of the game; unfortunately things just weren't meant to be at United. This will hurt him more than anyone can imagine, and that's just a small fraction of the reason why we should part ways right this minute. Let him enter the New Year with serenity, and without the specter of failure looming in the background. Let him meet his grand-kids, and retire in Portugal with Truus. He has his faults, but there's no point delaying the inevitable while disgracing an old man further. Plus, we need to get our season back on track too. The turnaround from a 4 defeat spiral will be gradual, regardless of who the new manager is. Let's start that process ASAP, otherwise we might fall further behind the pack.

Excellent post. I want a change but some of the things spouted on here in a moment of frustration are verging on disgusting.

To be fair, I was one of Moyes' backers. Looking back, I was sorry for the guy more than anything to do with football.

Was talking shite about how dropping Rooney wasn't the right call. Like his performances in the previous 20 games are irrelvant because Memphis made a stupid mistake.

"The problem is we don't dare to play and that's my....analysis"

Swap analysis for fault and you're onto something there Louis.

I really feel bad for the guy. Enjoy your retirement Louis. You have deserved it.

Yeah. We need to prepare and get ready to start the official process which will take about 8 weeks.

Better check with the sponsors first and get them on board. There might be some noodle manufacturers who aren't that keen on having Jose associated with their product.

Don't think so. He just asked the question like all would have done in a 2-0 loss.
