Rhodri Giggs on Twitter (protected):

Mourinho to his driver "start the car"

It is what Geoff Boycott would call "start the car time"

This feels worse than when Moyes was in charge, there wasn't that inevitability that there is with today's game, maybe that's because media know we're not above sacking a manager now or maybe there actually is something in it

The worst thing is that LvG is not the only reason we are this bad. It's just one of 100 reasons. We won't see much difference as long as we keep Fellaini, Rooney, Mata in this club.

What's everyone's view on what to do now?

I wanted Van Gaal out before this game but since we're now at this stage, and losing again, is it worth sacking him to give the new manager a day to prepare for Chelsea? If we do go for Mourinho I'd be more inclined to let Giggs see over the Chelsea match than risk losing to Chelsea in Mou's first game when he'll not be able to have much impact if any.

Logistically speaking, I don't think Mourinho would have the time to be in charge for the Chelsea match either way.

changing my vote from "sack him at end of the season" to "sack him now"......

I'd sack van Gaal and appoint Mourinho ASAP. Giggs should leave United along with van Gaal. When a manager is sacked, their back room staff generally leave with them. No idea on who I'd appoint for the Chelsea game on Monday night though.

LVG should do something crazy to go out with a bang. Like take out his balls and run around on the pitch until he is arrested.

Yep, the players are clearly determined to fight for him. Out of that wet paper bag...

If that's genuinely all the fight the players have for him then it's a damning verdict of his time here.

Sack him and whoever helped keep him in the job after the last game.

Our seasons over, CL qualification is all we can hope for now.

I'm not convinced bringing someone new will make a bit of difference. Our squad it rotten, our club is full of incompetent fecks that will ruin it given enough time.

Even if we did sign Mourinho before the Chelsea match Giggs will be in charge of it while Jose watches from the stands.

I couldn't see him taking charge of that game without having even one training session with the team since I assume they wont be training tomorrow.

Pros for Lvg:
This is a really mediocre squad at 360°

Cons against Lvg:
He built this team

Ha I just realized my vote was still at give him till the end of the season...duly changed

No matter what, Mourinho wouldn't be in charge for the Chelsea game. The only question is whether LVG goes and Giggs takes charge for it or whether the board are seriously giving him more time.

If highly suspect that, IF Mourinho then comes in, Giggs would part company and get some experience somewhere less scrutinised.

A few weeks ago, we could've won or at least challenged for the title with a decent manager. Now its back to square one. We really have some fecktards in charge at the club.

LvG's doing his job to the best of his ability. Any anger should be directed to decision makers who have kept him this long despite the obvious.
Yep.

I don't know what our board is thinking. Every day passing with him as our manager, chances of us getting qualified for UCL next season are lower. That makes more difficult to get a top manager, to get top players and we also lose money. It is insane why this is keeping this long when the signs have been there for a month.

Im not convinced either but its more likely to make a difference than doing nothing is.

He's toast, its just a matter of when the board want to butter him now.

The really really scary thing is, that isn't beyond possibility. We just have to be logical and hope 4 straight losses, 0 wins in 7 will force the boards hand.

This is on Woodward and the board. His position became untenable once that two game nonsense was briefed to the media. What were they hoping to achieve by keeping him in the job whilst not actually backing him? We won't have time to make the change before Chelsea. We might be six points off fourth and only five ahead of Chelsea by the time we hire a new manager.

Can't be all his fault when so many of the players are not good enough. No manager would do much better with this group.

The blame lies in the fact he assembled them, but not in how they are currently performing. They are simply an average, gutless collective. Guardiola would win nothing with this bunch either.

He has to go. We are at real danger of missing out on a top four spot and i cant see us winning the Europa League... never thought i'd be saying that about United

On the contrary, I think its the stifling tactics thats making a good bunch look bd.

He should go, what title winners go through runs as bad as this? City and Arsenal have had blips but this is relegation form that you're in. Unacceptable after the transfer windows you've had and as a manager of United.

Blame Van Gaal all you want, and he does deserve some blame, but I've never seen a more gutless pack of cnuts play for United.

I pity any manager taking over this shower of shit.
And the Moyes defense circle is complete, it's not as if it's the managers responsibility to get his players to perform or anything, sure he's basically just a glorified PE teacher, not his fault if everybody else is looking completely rubbish. We need to sell all the players and extend Saint Louis' contract to infinite years, we're so lucky to have him piss away 250m every season and have feck all to show for it.
but I've never seen a more gutless pack of cnuts play for United.
Classy.

Why does everyone make out this team is the worst team ever? Theres some good, if not great, players there who he cant motivate or get the best out of.

The question is a lot of us saw this a long time back. Why has it taken United to realise the absurdity in keeping the guy in the job for so long?

Sentimentality. Like I said before, we should have questioned van Gaal why we started as we did against the likes of Spurs, Villa and Newcastle. All this talk about progression, improvement and process, yet we've been declining over the last 12 months. We're run by a bunch of clowns. They all need a sacking.

Because when the Caf gets upset about something it lacks the ability to differentiate, suddenly everythigns the problem.
