Luke Shaw nearer to Manchester United exit [The Times]

Time to put an end to this misery. He goes to other club and we sign a new top LB.

This will go down as one of our most underwhelming signing ever.

fwiw he's been liking several Twitter posts today about him staying and making it at United.

Some quotes about wanting to play for Pochettino again floating around too though.

Sad it didn't work out, I wonder if it was because of his injury or if he just didn't cut it at this level?

He will probably go to Everton.

Thought he'd be our lb for 10 years. Clearly not. all the opportunity in the world and somehow he couldn't be fecked. Yeah it was a bad injury but he's not the first to suffer that. What an idiot.

Ditto.

He was outstanding until the legbreak as well.

Interested to find out the truth behind this in years to come. Feels like we don't know the whole story.

Time to stop dicking around, either give him a proper chance in the team or get rid.

He'll probably move to Spurs for very little, finally reach his potential and we'll be complaining why he wasn't given a chance here.

If we get a top quality LB after he leaves, I don't think we'll even remember him much.

He hasn't been given a chance, the million dollar question is why not? What jose said about him last season was a disgrace. Fergie would never have treated one of his players like that in public.

3 minutes ? Embarrassing for him. Why does Jose wan5 to humiliate him? The guy needs a chance and 3 minutes isn’t it.

Bust your gut, do whatever it takes. It's what we all do in any successful career. He clearly doesn't. He could have been really successful, he was the main man at lb. he just couldn't be arsed, clearly.

Let's hope so, but there aren't many top quality LB's available. Maybe a swap deal for Rose?

Well I'd say he was given some chances, but just not enough to go on a consistent run in the first team. Shaw was also publicly trounced for mistakes, while Darmian arguably made just as many mistakes (around the same time) was given further first team opportunities.

no other top tier would let the position of LB remain basically uncontested for so long. Our fullback situation mirrors what our midfield situation used to be like

Except SAF would and has multiple times. Go back and look at some of the stuff he's said about Nani, particularly what he said against him in the cup game against Chelsea. He basically put the loss single handedly on Nani despite him being our best player in the game. Much worse than anything Jose has said during his time here. Please stop altering the past to suit your argument.

I’d like nothing more than to see the lad nail down the left back spot. But unfortunately, with every passing month, that seems less and less likely.

It’s time to get rid and bring in a replacement ASAP.

I have to agree with this. Valencia is decent but even he doesn't hold a candle to the best fullbacks in the game. His delivery is shocking and he has been shite at beating his man for about 5 years now. We don't even have a left back.

That position is severely hindering us imo.

I would bring him on for the last 20 mins in the next 3-4 games and see how he handles it. If he cant attack and defend against tiring players then he really is of no use. If he comes good then give him an half and take it from there. This would also build up his confidence no end.

Swap him for Rose.

The sooner this coward leaves the better. He seems like a spoilt brat to me.

That's a bit harsh! Sometimes a player can 'unfairly' and 'irrationally' fall foul of a manager and never get a look in no matter what he does. Nobody really knows the real ins and outs of what's going on.

He can still make it here I feel but he needs to take his chance now.

What's actually happened to him? I thought he was brilliant under LVG.

Was a complete write off the first season as he was overweight and all that jazz. Second season was very good for about 8 games or so before his injury. Would he have kept that form up or was it just a purple patch? Who knows. Depay looked good too and turned to shite so your guess is as good as mine.

My honest opinion is he's lost too much time. He's spent so much time out through injuries and being out of favour for weight etc. at a very important time for a young player's development. He's a grown man now that still plays like an 18 year old kid to me.

He's talented but he needs to move to get his career back on track. It'd be best for us and him.

No idea what happened for him to be in this position but if it was me I'd stay an extra hour or 2 after every training session and show Jose how determined I am to get back in the team.

Just look at Beckham at Real Madrid for a good example of how to present yourself if you've been dropped.

Please explain why a player that isn't showing nothing for 2 years still deserve an opportunity. I have some difficulties understanding that.

That's a bit over the top, whats he done that is particularly cowardly?

He may well be a brat but i can't say i have seen him do or say anything that would suggest he is.
