Luke Shaw injury for England | sustained concussion and returned to Manchester (6 day rest period)

it's a concussion, not a muscle sprain / bone injury - not playing down the seriousness of concussions at all but more the psychological side of getting over it all. I think given what he's gone through with his leg break etc this won't feel like much to him as physically he'll be feeling fine by now. Would be happy if he missed the match and came back the match after that though imo.
Unseen physical injury.

He was shocking at Brighton. That's where the concern is coming from. I hope it was just rustiness and not a sign of what might be coming.

Weird performance. Opposing winger (Solly March) put in two successful crosses on his weaker right foot. Couldn't get past on the outside. Young was one of the better performers overall on the day, albeit he hardly ever crossed the half-way line. Knockeart inverted winger against Shaw had more half chances and was just as responsible, but it was the rest of the team esp. the panic stricken Bailly.

Is he definitely ruled out for Saturday?
Think so. I'd rather he took the proper time to recover than rush him back, we should have enough to beat Watford regardless of their form even without Shaw.

If he does play on Saturday, it will be because he’s ready to play. I very much hope he plays on Saturday, and he won’t be ‘risked’. If he plays, then this has been the ‘proper time to recover’.

Hope he insists on playing. Really don't want to see Young players there.

The thing is we need him on Saturday , but really only fully fit .

You have missed the point. Traumatic head injury after concussion is an unseen unmeasured physical injury with a risk of aggravating it in an undefined period afterwards.

I'd have him sit this one out. I know he's started well but it isn't worth messing with head trauma for the sake of one game.

You might be right. Just really hope he's back starting next game. Don't want Young against Young Boys.

Gonne be very funny if Young kicks on from here and maintains his starting spot for the rest of the season. It has been happening almost every season now. He just doesn't want to go away. :D

I think your definition of funny varies from mine. If funny means another season with no width whatsoever, then it'd be hilarious alright!

It was certain the moment they said '6 days' that he wouldn't play, even
though the timeframe suggested otherwise. Said so at the time, better to be overcautious than reckless. Fingers crossed Young has his big game performance.

It just feels like I have seen this scenario almost every year now. Every season we wish we'll see the end of him just to find him a main starter by the end of it, rinse, repeat, just leave already ffs!

If Dalot improves and nails down the RB spot during the season, Young and Valencia are more than decent backups. Problem is that Mourinho loves them too much to bench them, never mind moving them on. After all, we still have a captain who doesn't speak English after over ten years in England.

The fact Young took the left-back spot before wasn't funny. He did so because he was by far our best left-back, as simple as that. Now it would be unfair seeing Shaw's been ridiculously good. Don't think Ashley will protest too much, playing both full-back positions from time to time, given how much he loves the club.

I still don't know what Dalot will offer. He'll surely play against Derby and from that on we'll see if he's ready for first team football or not.

Hoping for stellar performances from Dalot, Chong and Gomes against Derby. Will be a really interesting game if Mourinho lets the youth play. Hopefully McKenna can convince him!
