Luke Shaw injury for England | sustained concussion and returned to Manchester (6 day rest period)

He could. It can't be determined if he needs more than the 6 day rest period yet, it's assessed on a day by day basis. He'll be doing some light training already.

I have a little experience with professional sports clubs though and I do wonder how much of that 6 day minimum was pushed through so players get back to playing in the following week's game rather than what's best for their health. Wouldn't be surprised if we keep him out longer.

TL;DR Sports cherry pick experts based on what they want to hear and there is a lot of disagreement and politics involved.

This is why we need to buy a new LB in summer we're one injury/suspension away from having to play Young.

Anywho glad to hear Shaw is ok ❤

I know what you mean but we could have played Dalot at LB as he's comfortable on either flank

I wouldn't risk him for Watford but I would put him in contention to play against Young Boys.

Just need to be careful with head injuries and that

Is the 6/7 days from the point of sustaining the concussion or from the point you are showing no signs of being concussed?

When I switched on the match the other night I saw Shaw been stretchered off and thought he had a serious leg injury again. Delighted it was nothing too serious, will be a shame if he misses Watford but thankfully he wasn't seriously injured.

I'd assume it's 6 to 7 days from the actual day he was told it would be 6 to 7 days.

Really have come to like him to the point where he is one of my favourite United players atm. He's been a breathe of fresh air recently compared to others in the squad. And he is very good when he's fully at it and unhindered by injuries.

Something to look forward to for us lot.
Same.

I'm assuming he can't train so we might have to stick Ashley in.....

nevertheless I'm enjoying these comments hoping that Shaw makes it back in time for the game - shows how far he's come this year in a short space of time
Good point. A player who hasn't trained for 6 days likely won't be given a start when the trusted Young is fit

But they only get 3 subs which makes it a bit worse.
It makes little difference in terms of exertion required.

But, guys, the world doesn’t revolve around jaded fans of the major clubs who are indifferent to international footballer for whatever reason. For people in most countries, international football is what generally generates the most interest and gets people watching. Yes, the PL and La Liga have the world’s gaze on them when the big teams play, but don’t think for a minute this is anything equivalent to when the fans of a country follow their nation trying to qualify for a major tourney or get to have the once-in-every-thirty-years experience of a World Cup.

You're right! I have little interest for international football and that makes me negative towards this things.

I really hope that Luke can play against Watford on Saturday.

I was shocked when i saw the accident on TV and i'm glad that it isn't a serious injury because he really hit form this season so far.

Come on guys, as United fans who have suffered the past 5 years, we're used of bad luck.

Can't quite believe some of the comments about us having to play Young at left back? He's a perfectly capable left back, did a great job for us last year so much so that he was Englands first choice left back ahead of Danny Rose. Defensively he is sound, better than Shaw is actually and granted he doesn't tend to add much going forwards now but with how Watford are playing at the moment it is far more important to be a competent defender on Saturday - he did score twice there last year as well...

I just hope he's healthy and it doesn't affect his form. He's just finding his feet again, he doesn't need a setback.

Having a natural left footed player can not be underestimated, especially our best forward players tend to cut in from the left side.

Granted there have been many world class right footed LB's but balance is important in the way we currently set up.

it's a concussion, not a muscle sprain / bone injury - not playing down the seriousness of concussions at all but more the psychological side of getting over it all. I think given what he's gone through with his leg break etc this won't feel like much to him as physically he'll be feeling fine by now. Would be happy if he missed the match and came back the match after that though imo.

He was shocking at Brighton. That's where the concern is coming from. I hope it was just rustiness and not a sign of what might be coming.

I Hope if he does miss watford Jose doesn’t forget his early season form. It’s fairly obvious that Shaw needs a decent run of consecutive games , he is the future I hope not a 33 year old.

Best news we could hope for.

He's been an angel in disguise these first 4 games. If he was to take a serious injury I would have been so pissed for him.
