There was a lack of ability out there against Cardiff. This is why people defend Nani so much.

Nani is just a nightmare footballer...never tracks back and shoots constantly from 40 yards out when we are chasing a game with 10 minutes to go...fergie couldn't wait to get rid of him.....moyes has realized now what we all knew before he was offered a new deal

Yeah right.

The freezing out of Nani becomes more bizarre by the match. I could understand it were it not for the new contract... after all he does attacking and stuff, he's hardly a Moyes type of winger. But why did he give him the contract? Just to wind him up?

The new contract could have just been a case of protecting us from losing him cheaply or at the rate it was going, for nothing.

Like most on here I really like Nani but Fergie and now Moyes obviously don't trust him. Maybe, just maybe, he's not as good as we all think?

Weird, because last two season when he was given run in the team he was one of our better attacking players, if not the best.

I'm guessing he's in Tuesdays plans along with Kagawa.

Hopefully:

RVP

Kagawa - Rooney - Nani

Any chance Jones could be back in?

Should be getting game time, but not happened since the stoke game. One bad game is all it takes for Nani to be frozen out

A lot of inconsistancies there; Ando can't get game time for playing poorly against Wolves and Nani can't get game time for playing poorly against Stoke. Cleverley plays horribly a few matches in a row and is awarded another match and Valencia does OK and is awarded several starts. It hardly makes sense.

That's not how it works though, or everybody would do it all the time. If he wanted to go and people wanted to buy him, he'd have gone in the summer. Why would any potential buyer move now that he's signed? So we just commit ourselves to pay 5 x 52 x his weekly wage, for a player we don't really want. Makes no sense.

I reckon we'll see a front 4 of Rooney ahead of Welbeck, Kagawa and Nani with RVP coming off the bench.

Massive game for him. Needs to perform well - which I think he'll do - to stand a chance at starting against Tottenham.

I like Nani, but I don't want him to start against Tottenham. Verthongen(if played as rb) can give him hard time, and that would mean again: "he is so incosistent", "Nani is so overrated", blah blah. If he didn't want to use him against the likes of Cardiff, he can stick with Valencia for that game too.

I don't understand. Surely it's another game and another opportunity for Nani to prove himself. Your logic suggests (or seems to, correct me if I'm wrong) that we might as well get rid of him because he didn't play against Cardiff.

No, I didn't mean that. As I said, I want him to get run in bit easier games, and Tottenham away could be tough, same as Leverkusen away. Throwing him in, in our maybe toughest run so far isn't really too fair on him, especially when he didn't play one minute in last month or so, even though he was 100% fit.

I feel bad for Nani really. He needs a consistent run of games, week in week out, that he'll keep his spot even if he has a poor game. Only like that will he get back to his best form, not by being out of the starting line up for a month and then coming in to start on one of our most difficult games, then probably back to the bench on the weekend unless he does something special here.

And that way we get to throw Valencia to the wolves. Win win. Hopefully both play well tonight because they're our best wingers.

Nani is having a good game so far but far from spectacular. Rust is unavoidable though when you haven't played in a month. Still clearly adds another dimension to our play the way he can link-up as well as dribble past his opponents.

So he looks full arsed? He's not been great on the ball, but has put in a good shift at least and won the ball on a few occasions. Needs minutes...

Nah, this is really poor from Nani, but I guess he is just playing it safe.

He's running around a lot but nothing is coming off for him, he is brutally ineffective.

Needs a goal and some gametime to find some form but I'm not convinced he will get it - not at this rate.

Disappointing as I would really like to see a good performance from him.

Did you excpect anything more from a player who hardly features this season??

Even from a rusty Nani I would expect to see flashes of brilliance, tricks and flicks. Not consistently and I probably wouldn't expect him to play 90 minutes, but his performance has been disappointing and I can't see it earning him any real "points" in Moyes book. He has looked like the least tuned in and effective of our front four very comfortably - Giggs has contributed a lot more despite being in a deeper role.

I am a Nani fan and want him to do well but there is no denying he hasn't looked very good tonight.

He's a confidence player lacking confidence, understandably, he clearly needs a run in the team to get to his best but he is never afforded the privilege.

Good finish and hopefully some confidence and enough to buy him a start vs spurs

The touch with the outside of his foot was fecking class. I mean I thought he was gonna side foot it with his left which would have been the easier and more obvious way of scoring

some geniuses on the bbc text, just before he scored...

Conor Matchett: Nani been woefully poor tonight... As per usual. Otherwise United playing very well and Kagawa impressing
peter malath: With every game Nani plays, he seems to be killing his career at United week by week. Nonexistent so far the entire game
Sean Clarkson: The whole team have performed so far, Nani with a few loose passes though.

Poor game. Great goal. With Kagawa's performance tonight he'll struggle to get a game on Sunday.

I thought he was pretty poor besides the goal. Moyes is right in preferring Valencia over him this season, based on current form.
