That's terrible logic, that gets used about Nani a lot. This idea that he would definitely be playing great if only he was picked more. You're putting the cart before the horse. There are obviously good reasons he's only had 2000+ minutes in two seasons so far and no, it's not just because he was injured or Moyes was an idiot.

He's been at United for seven years this week, by the way.
His logic actually makes perfect sense, I'll help you out. When Nani plays consistently - and isn't dropped and abused by Rooney and fans as soon as he has an off day - he gets into a rhythm, grows in confidence and becomes consistently effective. That's what he does for Bento who trusts him immensely, that's what he did for United in 10/11 when he had no fear of being dropped due to Valencias injury. And, yes, of course he doesn't get game time for a good reason: he's off form. But he's also off form for an equally good reason: his style is neither trusted nor appreciated in the British footballing culture, making him too easily and too frequently droppable. That's why British countries' teams are always so technically inept. That's why a player like Valencia is somehow rated higher and trusted more than a superior player like Nani just because he runs along the touchline and crosses the football like a machine.

I know you love Wayne Rooney, so maybe you will understand better this way: Just imagine he was dropped and abused all those numerous times he played so badly he had issues even controlling a football. He wouldn't have handled it, that's why he threw a tantrum once Sir Alex started starting RVP ahead of him because of his form.

Can we please stop this?

Why do so many United players have a hate mob? Do other fans of other clubs have hate mobs for their players too? Are players judged on their football or on their personality, appearance and character?

Hello McFly. Read the post. 99 minutes per goal or assist when he played 2 seasons back to back, each season playing for 2000+ minutes. Think McFly THINK.
I'm all for calling Pogue names but when the attempt is this terrible it's better to just bend over and accept your punishment from him instead.

Zing. In other news, I disagree that it's shitty logic. Some of the reasons for him being left out didn't seem to be performance related. Discounting Moyes being an idiot, the contract situation clearly affected his minutes when Fergie was still around.

Really? It's about as obvious as you can get. If that's what constitutes a "burn" in your world then you and your friends must have pretty shitty conversation

I was only joking. It was a terrible insult.

If he only could play for us like for Portugal! I really hope LvG gets the best out of him!

He's always looked pretty decent for Portugal when I've watched them, even when he's been barely playing for us. One of my favourite players in the squad, and an on-form Nani is such a great addition to the team, so I hope he has a great World Cup and a fresh start under LVG brings out the best in him.

Bulking up doesn' t mean you lose your agility, this is a way too simplistic way of seeing things.
It doesn't necessarily mean that you lose your agility. But I feel I'm slower and feel tired easily now since I have put on a few kgs of muscle. I was a lean guy and was pretty quick and agile.

I'm pretty sure JeffriesLube has never watched a game of football in his life. Why bother when you can form your opinions from a website?
Stats don't have opinions. I can assure you I have watched at least 1 game of football in my life. :p

Right up there with left-footed penalty-takers in the caf annals of football-related lunacy.

EDIT: Mind you, I've kind of softened my stance on Rubberman's insane crusade after doing a bit of boxing. Southpaws can be a real head-feck to come up against, on the basis that you have so little practice against them. Left-footers might be the same for goalkeepers. So maybe, just maybe...

That is a little harsh. Otherwise your post hit the nail on the head.
It would be interesting to see how many Rooney supporters rate Nani and vice versa.

 that was a classic.

You might be on to something though. I reckon defenders have a tougher time against left footed dribblers too. Pretty much the only reason why Messi is a better player than Emile Heskey.

Nani and Rooney hate one another. Here you can clearly see Wayne is about to knee Nani in the bollocks.

Nani's getting his revenge here by trying to hug Rooney to death.

Clear signs of abuse.

Sorry this not refute my opinion. By the way, showing pics of Rooney hugging Nani would be more effective.

Isn't 'McFly' a Back To The Future reference?

I'm sure there's nothing personal between Nani and Rooney. This isn't Harchester United, although some of you love to pretend it is I'm sure.

Rooney's just one of those players that shows his frustrations with other players when they cock up. He's always done it. People just notice that it's directed at Nani more because Nani's a very frustrating player.

Blackmore backs Nani

Clayton Blackmore expects Nani to show his true colours at the World Cup for Portugal.

The ex-Manchester United man feels the winger can be a key figure and ensure a team containing Cristiano Ronaldo can go far in the tournament in Brazil.

Nani should be fresh for the finals, after making only seven Barclays Premier League starts last term, and he shone in the final warm-up game against Republic of Ireland.

"I have to go for Argentina as my favourites," Blackmore told ManUtd.com. "I am feeling that Lionel Messi is due a good World Cup. They're strong going forward, although I'm not sure how good their back four is.

"As outsiders, from the European teams, I'd go for Portugal. When you've got the best player in the world, you must have half a chance. They have got other good players and I expect Nani to play well.

"He is one player who has not had many games last season and struggled at times to convince the crowd. But, as I'm sure the fans will realise, if he has a good World Cup, they have to get behind him when he returns.

"Getting on his back doesn't help him. I've seen him in training and he is frightening. Ronaldo is one player you can give stick to and it winds him up and makes him work harder. I think Nani needs to know the fans and manager are behind him to perform as we all know he can do."

The last point is very interesting. To say something like that out of the blue and all

The fans have a long list of players they like to hate on. Nani, Young, Valencia, Rooney, Welbeck, Cleverley, Fellaini, Evra, Smalling..... the list goes on and on and I'm sure I've missed out at least half a dozen other names who get constant abuse from fans.

Do you think that helps United? Maybe if fans got behind the players more last season and not been so hateful, then we might not have ended up 7th? It is not a minority either because I have seen lots of abuse for lots of different players on more than one United forum.

You should be aware that United fan base are much more bigger than just from forums and social media. Also, if players are easily affected by these hateful comments and not perform, they jolly well should take a pay cut and wake up their ideas. They are professional players, United's players. They have the responsibility to turn up for any games and do their job and not becoming a wimp just because of comments from fans. Noted that more or less they will be affected but I still can't get that idea that it will affect them that much. A simple pat or comment from the manager easily can let the player know what the fans are saying is rubbish.
