The same Nani who played with a stomach virus and was hurling up and getting dizzy during the Tottenham game and vomited after it cause of the effort he put in, doesn't give 100% effort. dmode logic.

What is Nani most productive position? Playing on the left or the right?

We have Young, Valencia, Nani all right footed players. However many teams with quality wingers such as Bayern play with the wingers coming in from the flank.

I don't think the issue is as much as playing left or right but being able to play in a formation where the wingers can swap positions if required.

It's arguable that he's better on the right than he is on the left, however I wouldn't say that there's too much of a difference and one of the best things about him is the fact that he can be very productive on either wing.

The only genuinely two footed player we have who is near the top of the assist league table every season (or thereabouts) and people want rid? Beggars belief!

I never really buy the line you hear from fans that players 'aren't giving 100%' or are lazy.

To get where they have, we're talking about some of the most driven, overly competitive cnuts on the planet. There may be the odd case where a player's fallen out with the club, or has lost his bottle due to repeated injuries, or is Riquelme. But in general I reckon top players put a shitload of effort in. Alright, maybe not technically 100% in every game, as they tend to have a bit more in their locker for the big games, but that's due to the high stakes and the stadium atmosphere, you can't actually turn that on for every single game, unless you're Roy Keane.

As for Nani, he tracks back and does a lot of sprinting in games, as well as personally ensuring the match goes on longer than the 90 by falling over clutching his face for 6 minutes per game.

Plech, it sounds like you are talking of Nani 2-3 years ago. He's cut out so much of the drama now, it bugs me how this is never noticed. Admittedly he was really bad before, fine, but he's completely changed.

He doesn't even make that face where it looks like he's getting badly murdered anymore.

Remember when he tried to get a West Ham player sent off by pretending they'd headbutted him in the face, by headbutting them in the face and falling over, and then the ref sent Nani off for headbutting?

That was annoying. I can't remember if it was before, during, or after most United fans hated Nani for no real reason.

In fairness, I remember making that same point to Brad and he skewered my argument with a youtube clip of some blatant histrionics from last season.

I think he'll always be prone to drama queenery.

Nani, that is.

Brad too, come to think of it.

It was his first season, a few weeks before the champions league final. Stupid thing to do, but many of our players have done silly things and Nani has cut that side of his game out dramatically.

Hmmm, he showed two clips, and it was the season before last I think, although maybe I'm wrong. It might not ever be completely gone, but he has cut it down to a degree where it's about as often as Rooney going down, which isn't all that often.

Young on the other hand, now that's a different story. It's like every winger, barring Valencia, has had to go through the same period of embarassing antics.

I suspect Valencia probably went through a similar phrase of embarrassing antics, typical of every winger - he probably dived around sometimes crying when he was three. Probably.

Should have seen Riquelme in the Copa Lib 2 weeks ago Plech.

Strolled around looking disinterested and just carefully hitting balls out wide.

90 minutes ticked over, he came to life and split the defense with a killer ball to set up the winner.

It was almost bizarre, except that it was Riquelme.

Thought he arguably the best player on the pitch tonight, work rate was good, interplay was superb, movement was spot on and he's strong as an ox. Really think he'll thrive in a team with Kagawa.

Done alright, but wasn't in the game much since the midfield liked to play hoofball for the majority

I really didn't think he was that good IMO. The best players on the pitch were Ozil and Hummels. From Portugal, Coentrao was better.

Almost every German attack came down Coentrao's side.

Come on he had Postiga up front for the first hour, hard to look good with him linking up with you.

I thought he seen little of the ball, given Portugal's inept midfield. Used the ball well when he received it though.

He can't do much when he doesn't have the ball, he became much more involved and played some wicked balls in the second half which if they had decent strikers could have been put away.
