Actually, here's one for those who rate Valencia as the best crosser at the club and not Nani.

How is it, when Rooney was in such brilliant form last season and scoring with both feet and scoring with his head at a rate than no other striker in europe was able to, how come Valencia had 9 league assists for the season? Nani had 1 more at 10. But more importantly Nani has 12 assists this season already and we're only just coming to the final third of the season.

How is Nani getting these assists if not from his crossing? His passing can still be a bit hit and miss at times and although now and again he's shown good vision with a side footed pass to set up a goal, its rare compared to a cross for Nani.

Certainly of the two of them, Valencia is the better passer and more likely to create in that way.

Is it that Berbatov is a better target than Rooney was last season? Or has Nani been going crazy with assists from corners this season? Even with the corners, Valencia chucks the ball into the box a lot more often in general play so I doubt attempts including corners would tip the number towards Nani. So how has this happened if not from more dangerous crossing?

A bit of assists stats on the two players:

Who has Nani assisted (10/11)?

P. Scholes	2
D. Berbatov	1

Nani - come the start of next season, will have the number 7 handed to him.

Mind you the last 3 to wear number 7 for United have all played for Real (Becks, Ronaldo, Owen)...so maybe not.

A bit carried away with his shooting today (an unkinder person may say greedy). A bit more intelligence and we may have had a couple of better chances.

Don't get me wrong mind, he was still our best player.

Our most dangerous player again today, and I would also say, our best.

He didn't deserve to be on the losing side but at least he's continuing his run of consistency. Nani's become an exceptional winger but the only weakness he hasn't fully solved yet is scoring from free kicks.

Brunt aside no one seems capable of taking good free kicks this year. There have hardly been any goals directly from free kicks. Shame

I still think he's right now our best attacker, ahead of Berbatov even. He's always the main outlet. Today sadly, he was the only outlet. Wish he had scored from that header at the end of the first half though, would have changed the game completely.

I dare say it was freekick scoring (regularly) that took Ronaldo longest to master too. I mean he had so many attempts before he started to score regularly from them and by that time he was already a scoring machine.

To compare Nani with Ronaldo is ridiculous. He's not in the same league...simple fact, and never will be IMHO.

He was one of the better performers today for us but still annoyed the feck out of me. Greedy fecker as well.

People compare them all the time, but I didnt there so you missed.

I just noted that scoring from freekicks on a consistant enough basis was the last thing Ronaldo got the hang of too. Thats not a comparison, but it may be a pattern if Nani ends up being a great freekick taker too

Ronaldo got the hang of scoring free kicks about the same time he got the hang of everything else - 2006/07. I'm 90% sure he scored the same amount in that season as he did the next 2.

He got just the one (against Portsmouth). Oh and against the European XI if we're counting that, which I'm not because it was a friendly.

Ronaldo got one in 03/04 (against Portsmouth), none in 04/05, one in 05/06 (against Fulham), one in 06/07, five in 07/08 (Sporting, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Bolton, Newcastle) and six in his last season (City, Villa, Arsenal, Blackburn, Stoke x2)

Right you are, just watched back his goals from 06/07 - his first against Villa that year was exceptional but hardly gets talked about because it came in the same game as that Scholes volley (2:18 on this video). For some reason I had it in my head that he'd scored 5 each in his last 3 seasons. Maybe it was 5 penalties.

It's weird the stuff that pisses people off. Our passing and general play around the Wolves area was dogturd, I wanted Nani to shoot MORE! There was no way we were gonna score any other way.

Was an immense goal that. Pity the first shot didn't go in, though he didn't half hammer in the rebound.

I've just realised that Nani is now with Adidas.

Adidas Football We've got some very exciting news! We'd like to officially welcome Nani to the adidas family. Nani recently took some time off his busy training schedule to pay adidas HQ a visit. Check out the video of his tour!

That's me off the fan list.
I only supported him because of the flashy orange boots.

Hes been with adidas since last year, iirc he scored against Bolton when first sporting his F50's.

Adidas seem to be making thr better boots anyway.

I would give it to Mt. Vidic, solely based off that rocket he scored a week or two back

Cracking goal that. I remember I was listening on the radio at the time and the commentator had managed to have a dig at him for beng selfish between the shot deflecting and him smashing it back in.

They need to use Nani more often, he pretty much creates something everytime he gets the ball these days. Amazing how good he has become...

Yup, it's quite amazing really. Just give Nani the ball and something is bound to happen. He just seems to ease past whoever he's facing today, they have no idea which way he's going to go.

The thing i love most about Nani is the lads work ethic, the fecker will run & try all day, never gives up, a brilliant attribute for an attacking player to have particularly with the skill & pace he also obtains, a world class player.

It's getting easy to tell when Nani's going to score for us. He repeatedly cuts in and shoots and doesn't stop until he scores. When he gets the bit between his teeth like that a goal is almost a cert.

'Persistance' is a key new attribute Nani has added to his skill-set thus season.
