Luckhurst: United prepared to move for a holding midfielder in January

Rio spoke highly of Woodward and Judge, and alluded to inside knowledge of what's going on. 20:35 mins in, says "here's a hint, deadline day is going to be madness."

Just listening to Rio's podcast live on YouTube.

He's been talking about how he was texting Ronaldo last night, etc.

And he's just said something along the lines of:

"You need to be watching my channel on transfer deadline day, because it's gonna be a crazy one... That's just a little hint that I'm giving ya"

Interesting.

Cama cama cama cama chameleon!

Camavinga to be our deadline day signing, I want to believe
It was mentioned that we consider him as the best talent out there so we will go for him if there is an opportunity regardless of other option. So yes this will be my bet as well.

Saul on loan won't be bad as well

Didn’t ole say there might be a surprise or two a few days ago? I genuinely reckon we will go for a midfielder too. Camavingaaaaa Ronaldo Varane Sancho. Best. Window. Ever.

Now I know it's been a day of miracles, but surely this is a step too far for Woody and the team...He would be 75 by now...

Lube has been ordered for deadline day.

Also I think it's smart from the club to let Rio kind of be the front of stuff like this.

I watched the stream and took it that they are doing a transfer deadline day special with Fabrizio. Akin to Skysports news deadline day.

I don't think it has anything to do with another United transfer.

I predict Trippier in along with Pogba's replacement Neves with Pogba going to PSG after they get their Mbappe money.

Yeah same to be honest, I didn't think it was transfer related, and I am a massive muppet.

There's another signing coming, I feel it. Actually don't think it's going to be Trippier either...

I took that more as they're going to do some sort of show or countdown to deadline with Fab Rom.

What's mad about that? Rio knows something, I feel it in my bones!

CR7 coming home has absolutely set me right off. I am convinced we're going to get our midfielder

Can't believe people were happy to spunk 100m on Kane to get a "proper striker who scores goals" in but now that we've signed possibly the best striker in the world for cheap it's not as much of an upgrade as signing Ruben fecking Neves.

Get a grip. I've been banging the "we need a DM" drum for 2 years but if you want to win finals and big games this is the player you sign.

Yeah, obviously a 36 year old can look past it in a hurry, but there's no real statistical evidence for his decline and certainly only Kane and Lukaku look to be in his class this season among proper 9s in the Prem.

I was wondering if Utd would sell Pogba if Mbappe leaves and PSG offer say €80mil. Neves wouldnt be a bad shout as hes Portuguese as well. Though a proper DM destroyer would be handy.

I think a 36 year old Ronaldo is a better striker than Kane.
Yeah, Kane’s best ever season was once over 40 goals, Ronaldo got 36 and 37 in the last 2. In fairness a 36 year Ronaldo is a better player than anyone not named Messi and possibly Neymar.

We might end up with 5. i think it's inconceivable we sell Dalot without bringing a replacement.
Midfield is a must anyway.

True. Dalot doesn't walk out the door unless Trippier is coming in.

Trippier is a maybe for me. But, I suspect a midfield signing is definitely going to be made.

My prediction: Camavinga on deadline day, he's seen as a worthwhile investment because of his potential and the little risk attached. If however he opts not to join us, think that United will pull the trigger on getting Saul in on loan. Either way, I'm convinced one of these two are coming in.

Someone said it in another thread can't rememebr where otherwise I'd quote it. But getting a midfielder too would be ruthless and exactly what we need to make the team genuine contenders for the PL and CL. Surely the expense it would take would be well worth it to complete the team. Don't quit while we're ahead.

Our initial outlay this summer is something like £40? Received a little for Lukaku.

All summer we've heard sell before we buy but today shows money is there for the right one.

If the naysayers are correct - and they might well be - and nobody else now comes in - what if, just what if, they have played everyone and Pogba signs a new deal on deadline day instead of before just to mess with everyone?

I think I would lose my shit.

I suppose one way to look at it is that bringing Ronaldo in makes the likes of Martial and Lingard even more sellable. And if we were to make those sort of sales, a midfield signing becomes viable. Lingard at least should generate offers, you'd think.

As for Trippier, if we found someone willing to commit enough to Dalot then I'm sure that would be doable.

Just depends on if anyone is buying our players.

Agreed that it makes us more likely to sell Lingard. Martial or James also possible outs now.

The issue with Trippier isn't Dalot really. It's that Madrid are pricing him out of a move.
