Perhaps the Glazers have decided that it's too expensive to sign Pogba's and Lukaku's, and will now pay for Lucas' to get top 4 each season. Threat of becoming the next Arsenal.
We are too big to become like that. Cash flow isnt an issue for us. Plus Mou said we will spend big on one player this summer.

Oh boy again with the Lucas Moura rumours  . I didnt watch him play much, just a few PSG games in CL when Zlatan was there. And dont know why but I have this impression that hes kind of washed up... and just seems like a headless chicken running straight most of the time. Dont really want him at the moment. We should get better.

What part of our transfer strategy in recent times suggests this? We were more than willing to add Griezman last window. Even Jose was happy with our transfer business till we hit a poor run of form

Yea, maybe on Jupiter

Nice one!

I think there are some better options than him, and I'll definitely take someone like Mahrez above us, but Moura will still be a good upgrade over what we got in this position, and since he's still young I won't mind him in the winter transfers.

I'm not sure he's an upgrade as such, he's obviously quicker and a better dribbler but he lacks the intelligence and awareness you get with Mata in the position, so he'd provide a different type of player option in that position, but I really can't see him being anything more than squad player if we upgrade properly in the summer.

Heh! :D Here's one from the 2nd page.

Yeah, I think he's 25, but it's not so much form that's the issue, it's the fact he's brainless.

The same could be said of Zaha, but there are plenty who would be willing to see him back at the club. Moura has played at CL level, and there would be no EPL premium involved. I think he's exactly what we're looking for, and would thrive under Jose.

I wouldn't want Zaha either, him, Bolasie, Walcott, Moura are all in the same brackett, rapid, have a trick in them but no awareness or decision making in the final 3rd.

Honestly don't understand the overwhelming negativity on here. I think it must have something to do with him originally rejecting us for PSG in the first place. Some of the claims i've seen on here such as he can't cross or he hasn't improved at all at PSG are just not true and makes me think some of us just have a personal hate rather than actually watching him play.

To try and gather an idea of how he might be in the premier league I went back and watched some highlights of when he has come up against the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal (I know some would say CL football is different to the PL but its the best indicator for us fans of what he COULD bring to us in the PL)

From what i've seen hes a constant threat to the defenders, create chances out of not much which could really help us a lot, and wins a lot of freekicks in good areas. He also does a pretty good job defensively, which is a big plus for a manager like Mourinho. So overall, good performances in every match I saw. Even got a goal at the emirates last season which I completely forgot about.

There are individual highlights of these matches on both youtube (bad quality, probably because of copyright) and vimeo (much better quality) just search for them (Lucas moura vs ______)on those sites. I would post them on here but unfortunately I don't have them privileges yet  Would be helpful if a full member could do that, so maybe people could have an actual idea of how he might be in the PL instead of the ignorant hate...

If we can get him on loan, with or without an option to buy that seems like a great idea.

----------------Lukaku/Martial---------------------
Martial/Lingard-Pogba-Herrera--Lucas/Lingard
---------------------Matic--------------------------

could really do something in the CL, I think. That's a lot of pace on the counter, an orthodox winger to feed Lukaku for crosses and we'd have one of those 4 players as a threat off the bench to run at defenders and we've seen Lukaku (West Brom) and Martial (this year) excel in that role. And while Herrera is in poor form, a harrier/water carrier in the midfield in front of a calm passer with size and next to a dynamic box to box player just seems like a solid CL recipe.

And then bring in Griezmann or Dybala or some other great player next year.

Lucas was an unused sub for PSG in the CL. Can't work out if that means he is cup tied or not but think so?

Is this thread based on news reports or just a hypothetical what if?
Some French report linked him to us initially and it's been followed up independently by an article by the Telegraph. Probably some truth in it.

No he wasnt really he wanted Perisic

I also think there's some truth.

I imagine that a club like United follow 10 players for this winter and 100-150 players per year.

I will be surprised to see United acquire him but he can play the Champions League with you.

People seem to be slating him but the guys had very good stats in France. He's out of the team because they signed mbappe. Which of our players could keep him out of the side? He'd be a good signing IMO.

No one wants him, except United. There is a reason for that. Hope we stay away, not a player to bring us any closer to the desired titles. Our whole squad must not consistent of world class players, but some positions we need top talent. If we sign someone on the right, he must be very good. Lucas isnt.

In the same week we have Lucas Moura to United rumours and Alexis Sanchez to City rumours.

Ladies and gentleman, should these events occur simultaneously this is why we'll come second and City first in the future. This is Dortmund/Monaco relative to Bayern/PSG. City will nick the elite and we'll be scrapping in January for PSG squad rotations.

"should this occur" of course being the indicative. I have every confidence that Mourinho has better targets in mind.

Lots of ladies on this site, but just the one gentleman :)

Also, do they have to be exactly simultaneous?

Sanchez plays on the left or middle. We already have Martial and Lukaku for those positions.

Lucas Moura is a right footed, right winger (correct profile). He will probably be cheap (and so can supplement bigger signings). All the RWs we have been linked to are not Marquee signings, but players to fit a function.

I don't think Moura is good, but we are probably not after Sanchez at all, because he does not fit the team's demands. If we are looking for a Marquee signing on the right, it will probably be Bale.

That assumes you think that a 'big name' at arsenal is automatically better than a squad player at PSG. Remember Alexis Sanchez was a bench warmer at barca and wouldn't get in the current PSG side either.

Well we need a RW. Not sure if this guy is really top quality, havent seen him play much. However I would be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt

I don't like him, there is a reason PSG are willing to sell, he's the worst of what they have, we should'nt be bargain hunting, buy the best.

Haha. I wouldn't bother. You'll only be disappointed!

Noooo thanks. Wasn't even that keen when we were first linked with him out of Brazil, and only suspected that he was a pace merchant without much else going for him.

Mourinho was basically telling Bale to hand in a transfer request in the pre-season. But one more year added to his legs might mean he wants someone else now.

We've been told that the summer will bring with it 1-2 big signings. I'm looking forward to it, because Mourinho's recruitment has been solid.

Didn't he reject us for PSG initially anyway? Seems like a bit of a mercenary to me. Plus he's not fulfilled his huge potential at PSG - they've kinda ruined him.

Seem to remember it was Leonardo, who was PSG's director of football at the time, that convinced him to sign, which is fair enough. If it's a loan he's worth a punt, offers something different and will make us quick down both flanks for a change.
