Louis Van Gaal - First press conference 17/07/14 14:45 BST

Why did nobody follow up about Carrick's injury?

Feck, that Carrick injury must be serious for him to mention it.

If the Carrick injury is long term then I expect movement in the transfer window immediately.

Carrick injured? Van goal seemed like he was a huge fan of him though. Feel like if we did get Vidal we'd have a midfield trio of Carrick behind Herrera and Vidal, and then mata on the wing.

So Carrick injured yet again, definitely need to sign a midfielder before pre season tour.

He's always had emphasis on youth. This isn't some sort of dig at Rooney, calm down.

That was such an authoritative press conference. It's been a long time since we've had one of those. Proper United gumption.

I doubt the Carrick injury is serious. He would have said so if it was. He'll probably miss the tour. If he's going to miss the start of the season though, he needs to enter the market soon.

Looks like we may not do some business for a week or 2. Wants to get to know these players first.

How is it possible to be a professional journalist and be so, so bad at asking good questions? They're so obsessed with trying to wheedle out a nice headliney soundbite they actually make it difficult for the manager to day anything interesting.

The basics of journalism are dying. The sorts of things 12-year-olds are taught aren't practiced by experienced pros. It's embarrassing, to be honest.

feck that's not good.

Wierd the way he side stepped Rooney and went straight to Carrick.

Carrick was nursing an Achilles injury last season wasn't he? Maybe related to that now.

Jesus that was brilliant. He's the fecking man. I feel like I'm sat on the naughty step.

I doubt the Carrick injury is serious. He would have said so if it was. He'll probably miss the tour. If he's going to miss the start of the season though, he needs to enter the market soon.

I doubt he'd have mentioned it if it wasn't serious.
