Look what I just found hiding in the cupboard....

Mentiroso!

I went to university in 92, I seriously had no time for it.

As for the Amiga, the original team had an updated chipset ready in 87 I think that did 1280x1024 in 7 bit colour. It needed VRAM though, Commodore dumped it.

Look up Amiga Ranger. There are scans of an interview with Miner just after he and the rest of Los Gatos were fired.

Bit before my time matey, but I'm definitively going to read up on that!

The highest resolution I was working with back in the day was on the Playstation, I rigged a monitor and forced the output at 800x600 (@about 24fps mind) for a 3D tank game I made. I wished I still had the rom and source for that :(

Does anyone remember the game that spawned shit loads of rip offs, like Hitman, MGS and Splinter Cell?

Yes, that's the one. Joe Blade.

It was. Although, I must admit that I never really figured out what I was supposed to be doing anyway...

I was on a gaming nostalgia trip quite recently, and I actually read a walk through of Impossible Mission, just to see what the hell was going on. It's ridiculous.

I think Green Beret was even more difficult.

That's awesome, Weaste. You got a Panaonsic 3DO stashed away at all? Always fancied one of them.

Got a Super Nintendo when I was at primary school for Christmas and Street fighter 2. Was the biggest game by far at the time, everyone wanted it and I think the cartridge cost my old man like £65!!!!! We all used to play it loads on arcade machine at the swimming centre and when it was coming out for console everyone would pile into the local Comet electrical store to get a game with Ken or Ryu, think they even put a sign up after a while saying kids only allowed in with parents as it was that bad.

Some older lad down the road had it on import with one of those cartridge adapters and he was a complete tight git with it. That and the firs MK just owned, Mario kart too.

Got rid of my Snes as a kid but still got the N64 with Goldeneye at my mums house I think somewhere, also got the old Playstation stashed away here and this which was a great console:

No way near as old as some of the gear in this thread but a top old console none the less. Got quite a few games for it, UEFA striker (Dwight Yorke on cover), House of dead 2, Quake 3, Crazy taxy 2, Sega world wide soccer, Toy commander, Metrpolis street racer, Sega rally etc.

Sega WWS footie game was ace, got fairly average ratings at the time but had some cracking games on it with mates, you could swerve the ball and direct it top corner like a missle, made for some great goals. The net console that started it all, just a shame they blew all their advertising budget on Arsenal and Deportivo shirt sponsors or whoever it was. We've seen we Apple iPhone, TV ads are key.

Been meaning to get it out and have a bash with the light gun and HOTD2 on the newer TV's but not got around to rigging it up as of yet. Even got the fishing rod  but no Sega Bass though.

I was very very young but I have memories of playing Kangaroo and Centipede on the Atari 2600.

feck me, I'm sick to my stomach with nostalgia of being a 6 year old without a care in the world playing these fantastic games. Nintendo are the only company that seem to understand that gameplay is far far more important than graphics these days.

I had the same lightgun as you, but fecked if I know what happened to it. My console still works perfectly, though.

Not a single one, hence the use of the word "sadly". All we ever played on it was a casino game and my dad bought it almost entirely on the strength of the one golf game it had.

I don't have a 3DO mate, no, they were far too expensive, however, the Amiga line goes through it, Atari Lynx, Jaguar, and 3DO, they simply lacked the genius of Miner IMO. I'm a bit of a fanatic, but the Amiga was the first truly modern personal computer, and it could do weirdo things.

Neo geo and the 3do are two consoles i've never owned, there's not many I haven't (or still do). I wish I still had my Jaguar and Turbogfx16 though. I think i've still got a Jaguar controller somewhere actually, I might have to get another one.

we had an einstein which is 'rare' and so shit apart from the games on the system, there was only one ever made which was cluedo. It was a similar design to the amiga (though memories hazy) - fatter different general shape and took the big floppies I think.

Was the Turbogfx16 the same as a PC Engine? I used to have one of them - it had quality games!
