London 2012 - Track & Field/Athletics

That was an amazing finish!!

My mum and dad were both cheering him on with me loudly with 200m to go and they didn't even know him till today

Congrats to one of the greatest British Olympians, what a Legend!

 Was about to post the same thing. Her husband has just cemented his place as one of Britain's greatest every athletes, the least she could have done it cracked a smile.

Maybe she wanted him to go quicker as she is close to having the babies and now he has gone on a lap of honour.

The 5,000 and 10,000 are great to watch when you have medal hopes. The tension builds up so much you feel like you're running the race with them.

Slightly more than a week ago Wiggins was a shoo-in for SPOTY. Now it'll be a real contest (well, as much of a contest as it can be).

Mo has bags of personality. Very likeable guy, should be popular in the voting.

Yeah... i'd put it as a coin toss now with Wiggins or Farah, and either would be a worthy, worthy winner.

Denise Lewis's arse is fantastic. And on another note, how gay is Colin Jackson?

I tell you... bring your wife a gold medal and she's still not impressed! Women aye...

So how many people in the history of the games have won the 5K/10K double? I think only two or three. Amazing feat.

Mo Farah .... surely thats as incredible an achievement as Bolt winning the 100/200 double? Sure he will have to repeat it in Rio to be a LEGEND, but his perforance in London will be long remembered.

The elephant in the room:

I've been disgusted/alarmed to read some of the Islamophobic and racist comments on various blogs about why success from a 'Plastic Brit' like Mo Farah (and thats just some of the more polite stuff I've read!) should not be celebrated by the people of UK.

Its openly written on places like the Daily Mail website so God knows what people are saying in the offices of the BNP and the like.

Do these wankers feel the same about Ennis, Holmes and Linford Christie?

So happy for Mo! Looked in a bit of pain towards the end but what a race. BBC commentators were amazing too! His wife was having a bit of a strop though, spoiling the mood.

Not as much pain as the others guys looked in!

God almighty. How long does someone have to live here. He has been here since he was 8 and thinks of himself as British. We should be honoured that he does. Some people as morons.

Sammsky1, I don't know what you've been reading, but over the past week I've heard/read nothing but complete admiration for Mo Farah. You only need to look at the atmosphere in the stadium tonight to see that. Even on the Daily Mail website, 99% of the comments are in praise of Mo. A tiny, extremist racist minority that expresses itself on the web is hardly an elephant in the room, more like a fish in the ocean.

He's one of the favourites to win BBC SPoTY
