Mark Foster just saying about how 10-15 years ago there were more pools in Paris than in the UK or something (but that's improving).
Trouble is all we build is leisure pools, which is fine, but not much good to train Olympic swimmers.
Really pleased for that Lithuanian girl, amazing effort at 15.

Lots of towns in the US have at least short-course pools at YMCAs, city owned pools, or at universities. I live in a small town and we have two short-course pools, one indoor and one outdoor. Most major universities have Olympic pools.
We did well in the open water swimming at Beijing, a repeat there would be welcome.

I couldn't even tell you where my nearest 50m pool is, and I live in London.
Our town had a full sized pool and a smaller pool, they knocked it down and built a leisure pool with a training pool beside it. However most kids will go in the leisure pool. You wonder how well kids can swim now. They just go to pools to mess about.
