whooooshSo you have sources at the club then?
Apparently he was going to be given the number 7 shirt.

I hope they get Bony.
From Sport Bible: "Liverpool have pulled out of the deal to sign Loic Remy after realising he wasn't a Southampton player."
well it went right over your headGreat reply.
Remy at £8.5M would have been a great signing for Liverpool and I don't see them making a shrewder attacking signing than that for £10M or less. It isn't necessarily negative news though, it might now mean putting that money towards a striker who is a tier above Remy, although there aren't many available, but it might also mean Wilfried Bony.
No. He's refusing to, apparently.
No one for that amount of money. However, Balotelli, Martinez and Cavani are some players who are superior and attainable. Though, I admit I can't see Liverpool signing those players.Who is better, available, and willing to join Liverpool that they should be splashing out on?

I think they'll end up with Bony or an inferior player now anyway.I don't think any of them would want to join Liverpool. Maybe Martinez.

They aren't getting any of them now especially Cavani. They have already spent close to £100m even without Remy. They could acquire Balotelli or Martinez for sure. Liverpool are a massive club.
Cavani would be difficult due to price/wages but I'm sure they'd be able to get him, I doubt they'd want him though due to his massive price/wages.
Martinez would be a pretty simple acquisition, but Balotelli is an entirely different proposition given his wages and stature and I could see a host of teams in for him if he is available. I would be incredibly surprised if they have any chance of signing Cavani, as they aren't an illustrious option compared to many clubs. I can't deny Liverpool's standing in English football, but i really don't see them as the same attraction across Europe. They could acquire Balotelli or Martinez for sure. Didn't they announce a loss of £50m or something last year as well? Maybe I'm mistaken and thinking of another club.Have they?! Now I think about it, it is probably around that amount now with Lovren. Still, they got £75m for Suarez and could have others leaving + normal summer budget so they could make another major signing at least.

They did announce it but it was for the year ended May 2012. And a £41m loss a year before that. So for the year May 2011, they had a £41m loss and for the year ended May 2012, they had another £50m loss.Doubt it, they must have some pretty tasty revenue anyway and also with CL football + resurgence in league form plus player sales I can't see them being hard up.
Both will score similar number of goals, but I think Remy would have been the better fit for Liverpool. For the right price Bony would be a good striking option. People are underrating him here. He is more or less the same level as Remy

Perhaps, but you need to compensate for the departure of Suarez in some form and ideally it would be a marquee player. That doesn't necessarily mean a forward and it should be someone tactically flexible with pace, so it could be someone like Shaqiri or Reus for instance. However, someone at Remy's level or slightly lower, along with Lambert would be quite disappointing from a Liverpool perspective I think.I don't think we need someone like the three you mention. Nothing to do with their ability, just that ideally we'd be going for someone capable of either playing out wide and/or deeper. Playing a leading striker alongside Sturridge doesn't seem like it would be a good partnership to me, and means we're pretty much struck playing 2 strikers unlike Rémy who gave us the chance to switch to 4-3-3.

I do think Remy would have been a very shrewd signing though.
Hard to judge from a friendly, especially a first outing but Markovic from what I saw did well last night and clearly has a lot of pace.
I think with him, Sterling, Coutinho, Lallana plus maybe the likes of Ibe & Suso (assuming they are not loaned out), gives us plenty in that department.
I agree on Remy, I don't know who the alternative will be though it's clear the manager is looking at alternatives.
Anything Ibe does next season should be a bonus. We should not be going into the season relying on him. I also think we need another striker and a winger regardless of the impact of those two. I think Coutinho and Lallana will both play centrally.
Saw on another forum James Pearce saying we are after a striker and 2 full backs now and that will be it.
Ibe would be great option from the bench.
