Why has this turned into Sturridge vs Welbeck. They are both young players who need time to get better, they are both not particuarly great at present, but I think Welbeck just edges it.

That being said we made about 5 million replacing Sturridge with Ba,

Not when you add the agent/signing on fee... but Ba is much much better, so its still good business.

Rodgers' & Gerrard's laughable 'last chance' remarks could more reasonably apply to them rather than Sturridge.

Since when have you cared about net profit?:lol:

Put it on the plastic. ;)

 Rodgers keeps giving these interviews as if he's 'been there and done that' at a huge club.He himself is still learning his trade at a club like Liverpool

will suarez pass to him?

There must be something in the water in Liverpool. Sturridge has only been there a few days and he's as deluded as their fans.

"It is the biggest club I have ever played for," Sturridge told Liverpool's official website.

"In the Premier League, there is no bigger club than Liverpool."

Considering they haven't even won the Premier League and have not won as many English titles as Man Utd I can safely say he is deluded.

Footballer in sucking up to his new club and attempting to endear himself to supporters shocker.

Its part of the script you have to follow when you join Liverpool.

If United had been after him to be 3rd or 4th choice striker he'd be at Old Trafford in a shot.

The 'get the fans on side' formula becomes more and more ludicrous with every signing. Now you basically just tell some kind of ridiculous lie about 'pool being the best/biggest/most prestigious club in England/the world/history, and the media will duly frame it as a 'pre-derby challenge to Manchester United', ignoring the fact that it's getting crazier than a bowl of fruit loops over there.

In other news RAWK posters call him "Humongous D".

Yep, 'Pool fans will probably lap it up. Everyone else sees it for what it is, a bit of PR.

Same with Van Persie, kinda. I'm sure most non-United fans rolled their eyes when he said ''I listened to the little boy inside me...'' but for a lot of United fans it made them like him even more, I'm guessing.

trade of the season

Chelsea done very well there, nice to see Ba wouldn't shit on the dippers.

It's true. They mix something in the waters over there.

What do you expect him to say

'This is a definite step down from Chelsea. Of course Liverpool have ambitions of reaching the very top again, but if you take an objective view on it it is unlikely that will happen in the short to medium term. I am not a top level player so I don't think that the fans should expect too much from me. At the end of the day they pay me 60 grand a week and I can get much higher grade pussy than the average man...............so I don't actually give a feck'

Completely different.

It is abundantly clear to any English football fan apart from some dippers that United are without question the biggest club in the county and most.famous, so Sturridge claims are ridiculous and he is laughed at and rightly so.

Van Persie turned down £300K a week at City to go to United for less money, so he is giving great credibly to his claims, he followed his dreams not.the money. What Sturridge claims is simply a crock of shit and no statistics in English football qualify them.

He is.just reading the script handed to him and playing into the fans handd, and as a City supporter and ex player he is on a windup.

:lol::lol: Well put.

Off topic, but it seems RVP's hypothetical wages at City go up with every passing week.

Really? Perhaps you just weren't paying attention. This is the only figure I have heard rumoured and thats quite some time back, October maybe. Again off topic, but apparently he signed on the same wages as Rooney, your guess is as good as mine as to what that figure is. Obviously considerably less though.

Again, instead of chatting in the transfer forum. The normal Sturridge thread is locked. I am sure there was another thread (or maybe this one) but where did it go? Can a mod either make one or give us the OK to make a new one?

Would have a cracking first post of the hilarious youtube video highlights against Mansfield...

I think he'll do well for them to be honest. Wonder what will happen to Andy Carrol when he returns from West Ham

West Ham have a clause in the loan deal remember that allows them to buy Carroll. He is surely gone as with the signings that Rodgers has made and the style he and they usually play, is nothing like what Andy Carroll is capable of or will ever be capable of.

Sterling/Suarez/Borini/Sturridge all have that direct style of play in their dribbling and are all pretty pacy players. He's definitely looking at trying to counter attack more often with his team i think and Sturridge will fit into that if he improves his finishing.

He made a difference for Liverpool, arguably due to a change of shape and United decidedly dropping off, but he had a few chances and probably should have scored again.

He's been good for them so far, it's just a matter of consistency. I see him having a similar impact as Cisse did when he arrived at Newcastle - good from January to May, then he'll be struck down with a case of Second Season Syndrome.

I said he was a good forward before he went there and I stand by it. Chelsea used him in an incorrect position most of them and he didn't feel good there, once he got going he's been good for Liverpool. He won't win you titles but he's certainly a good enough player for a side that wants to finish top 4 at some point in the future.

"He's been going good" just about sums it up. Scored a couple of nice goals and has looked quite sharp.

Two 'mememe' strikers in a front three is a dangerous mix. Couple of times against City he was moaning at Suarez to give him the ball and vice-versa Suarez whinging at Sturridge. Still runs down blind alleys a bit to much for mine.

But he will probably get goals. The proof will be in the pudding when the goals dry up and if he goes back to just hogging the ball and trying to put it in the net from anywhere he can or just continue to fight and link up play. My money is on him falling apart a little bit but we will see of course. I think the environment at Liverpool is much more condusive for the growth of a player like Sturridge, I'll admit I will have to backtrack on that and admit that I now think he has more room to thrive..

Not having to compete with big money ego's and a generally lifeless soulless club like Chelsea and show everyone his wares will help him. Being at Liverpool and getting the genuine backing from the stands as well as having room for his own big headed ego to fit will help.

You guys are funny. Even those of you who are tempted to pay a compliment feel the need to negate it with a swipe at the club as a whole.

I feel it worth it for the comedy alone.

I disagree, I don't think it will happen to him. He's played and is established in the premier league for his whole career and when used right he has a decent record (Bolton, Chelsea to an extent and seemingly now at Liverpool) I think the problem with Sturridge has happened his whole career and he always seems to pick up little injuries which slow down his form some what. He'll go on a run now and have a 3 week injury which he comes back from and takes a while to regain fitness.

I think he'd of been good to keep around at Chelsea, at the moment he's far more dangerous than Torres and plays with confidence a lot of the time. I think Liverpool got a real bargain with him, it frees up so much pressure that was on Suarez and he will help to push them up the table. Since he arrived I think they've looked far more threatening.

This, for me. Summed it up well. I think he could come good after a while with Liverpool. Maybe even good enough to move back to a bigger club?
