You guys are funny. Even those of you who are tempted to pay a compliment feel the need to negate it with a swipe at the club as a whole.
good striker but lets face it, your lot have been a midtable club for several seasons now

This, for me. Summed it up well. I think he could come good after a while with Liverpool. Maybe even good enough to move back to a bigger club?

And?
you're going to have to fight it out with Swansea, West Brom and Everton for the next couple of seasons.
Has been a bit lackluster IMO
Pool looking like they have overpaid yet again
I think he is another Defoe, will always score goals, especially in his early matches for club but somehow always end up back on the bench before he moves on. I have seen lots of players like it, because they score managers want them but ultimately they disappoint.
Defoe is exactly how I see him. They're both:
* Selfish
* Good dribblers at times, with their head down
* Can score goals
* Can score the odd spectacular goal
He is pretty much the new Defoe, if you ask me.
Strange, could have sworn you just described Rooney or Suarez there.
Rooney hasn't been a good dribbler for years and doesn't play with his head down and isn't selfish (and really at times, he should be more so).
He is decent. He looks a brilliant signing because compared to Carroll,Henderson,Downing,Enrique,Adam,Allen,Borini etc its not hard. Also for 12mil he is cheap compared to the other British buys Liverpool have made.

Seems a good player and a very good signing to me. He's fast, got proper goal scoring instincts and isn't too bad in the link up play either. He's also quite versatile in attack as he can also figure on the wing.
I rated him highly at Chelsea and was furious that he didn't get more games through the middle for us. He outscored Torres last season whlst being played out of position and had to warm the bench whilst Torres went on his 10 game goalless runs. He is a better striker than Torres 2013 in every single way - plus he's young and English. Why we sold him to a rival and persist with the awful Torres is quite beyond me.
It was all clearly because Roman had outlayed 50mil and wanted to see a return from it. Had he kept his nose out I reckon Sturridge would have played alot more.
He's going to get better for me as well.
Indeed. There is too much pressure in buying high profile players like Torres; most managers feel they have to play them, and the players have a huge burden on their shoulders. Torres isn't close to the player he once was; either play him behind the striker or sell him, imo. He's not an out an out striker anymore.
I always preferred him to Welbeck.
There. I've said it.
*Opens window. Listens anxiously. The sound of pitchfork-wielding mob is heard in the distance. Takes one last look at the little room that has been his home for many years, and prepares to leave it forever*
You're certainly not the only Chelsea fan I have spoken to who thinks that. Quite a few were bemused by it...did Di Matteo just not fancy him?
He's nowhere near good enough to play behind the strikers. His link up playing, touch and passing has been awful recently.
He is now one of the worst strikers in the Premiership.
There have been a few murmerings about Sturridge's attitude behind the scenes, but I personally have seen nothing to vindicate that.
There were rumours that Di Matteo had sat Sturridge down and showed him some video footage of him taking shots from ridiculous angles when the pass was on (probably his biggest flaw), perhaps the coach felt this issue wasn't being addressed.
Part of me can't blame him for wanting to make an impression on the odd occasion that he got a run-out. He must have been wondering what he had to do to get some game-time watching Torres go for another one of his trademark 1,000 minute goalless runs.
He started getting a tough time from our supporters towards the end for perceived selfishness, something I thought was grossly unfair given the support that Torres had until recently been shown.
