Their reaction is pretty funny given the fact they won’t even be top by mid week.

People seem certain that the two unlikely events of City failing to win at OT and Liverpool winning every game are both nailed on to happen for some reason.

There is no way Utd will pick any points against City.
No. Of reasons.
Ole won't play his strongest team
City have a great record at OT recently
The atmosphere won't be great
City will want it more.
If Liverpool fans are relying on Utd, you better have a back up
It simply not happening. No way Utd will hand Liverpool the league. No fecking chance.

Yeah, we are very fortunate to come up against a City scoring a record breaking 100 points last year!

:wenger:

No offense, but even while your points tally last year was as "lucky" as the Scouse currently, you weren't competing for the title at anytime. I'd even say that even if City wasn't in that forn, you still wouldn't have won the league most of the time.

Absurdly lucky season. Don't think I've ever seen a campaign with consistent luck.

Well we were unfortunate to meet possibly the greatest club team ever in two CL finals as well.

Of course you were. I'm talking about your bad spell after SAF exclusively though. What I meant by fortunate was that you probably still won't have to endure an otherwise very likely Liverpool league title win if it wasn't for City albeit Pool are in the strongest, while you are currently in the worst spell in the last what, 20 years?

Yeah, better let the obnoxious new rich neighbours have their glory than the old bitter enemy.

They will do it imo. They had big pressure in these last 2 games when they had to win it and survive with massive amount of luck.
If City went 3 or 4 points clear it would be probably over as they could allow to lose points.

City also have tougher games to play. Feck, will put just some money on them to at least have something out of it. Will never be so happy to lose my cash though.

Ole won't play his strongest team

Ole will certainly go for it if we chase top 4. And he should.

There's been so many occasions this year where they deserved to drop points and still won through horrific decisions, flukey goals, or once in a bluemoon goalkeeper errors. It's unbelievable.

They have the easier fixtures, as well as an unending stream of absurd luck, so it's weird that united fans wanted them to beat spurs yesterday. Top four wouldn't be worth them winning the league.

Everyone is saying Liverpool's fixtures look easy.
But the way City's fixtures have fallen it may not be so bad.
The 3 fixtures which everyone thinks they may drop points.
Palace (a)
Spurs (h)
Utd (a)
The Palace away game is on Sunday, their 1st leg CL game before that is Tuesday. (5 day gap)
They play spurs at home on Saturday with their 2nd Leg CL , against the same team is on Wednesday. So the so called CL effect won't be at a disadvantage to City as Spurs will be in the same boat, who won't be able to make as much changes as City.
And finally the Utd away game, city will have an extra day , as Utd have a tricky away game against Everton on the Sunday before. (City play spurs on sat).

There are no easy games for both sides at this stage of the season.

I'm just enjoying the ride.

Ole will play Herera and Matic. City will run circles round out static midfield.

Ole and the players would prefer to play in the CL, there is little doubt about that. The only scenario in which we play a weakened team vs City is if a win vs Chelsea will sort of guarantee us top 4 and we decide to rotate more against City in order to be fresher against Chelsea. You are right that the atmosphere might be a bit flat but there is a lot of time until then. If City continue to win and the media get hysterical about their quadruple quest, many fans might start thinking it's not a bad idea to stop them. Especially if we need a result against them.

Ole hates Liverpool, just like a Utd fan. He still remembers how Liverpool down tooled against Chelsea (Gerrard back pass to Drogba).

They are more likely to win, that's for sure. That doesn't mean we will play with a weaker team which is what you wrote before. Matic and Herrera play in first 11.

And feck Liverpool, we should try to win our game and get CL spot.

There Is no way Ole will play the same 11 against
Everton (a)
City (h)
Chelsea (h)
Those 3 fixtures are in 7 days. He will make changes against City. He will play his strongest team against Everton and Chelsea.

It's not improbable but the context might change and it's too early to make definitve pronouncements about our line up 23 days earlier.

If we lose from Everton or draw we may need to win both against City and Chelsea, not only against the latter. Ole will think about what is the best for the club and his own career at United, not whether Liverpool will win it.

Before the Watford game. Ole said he think 15 points will get Utd in top 4.
So 12 required. So meaning he has wrote the City game off

City will win at OT.

The switch from Sir Alex to Moyes had a bigger reverberation than even I could have imagined.

Good bye Man Utd -> Hello Everton Mk II

Jumping to conclusions there. Ole can't possibly know the games which are going to win, so it's naive to think he has already written the game with City off.

City will win at OT.

Wasn’t he a boyhood Liverpool fan?

And I doubt he gave a toss about something that happened four years after he retired.

Unless top4 is secured by then, Man United will go for the win against City, no doubt about that. Solskjær and the players are professionals, and they will be judged on Man Uniteds results, not others. There's no way, they won't wanna win this.

I have this horrible vision of “Back on our perch” banners at OT next season...

Can somebody find the Daggers of Meggido or something to stop this prophecy from becoming true?

You don't have to worry about that. Man City is way better and more consistent than us.

Has there been a luckier team than Liverpool down the years?

Liverpool & City have both been incredibly lucky this season. The amount of goals they've both been gifted is outrageous. When you factor in the poor officiating in the majority of their games it amounts to the huge points swing in their favour. Whichever team wins they can't accuse the other of lucking out.

Am glad that we will have VAR in place next season. I just hope we have competent people running it.

With 20 to 19 they still won't be back on the perch.

If Liverpool win no trophies this season after carrying this amount of luck, it will be the biggest bottle job of all time.

I'm a Wigan fan so have no dog in this fight - surrounded by united and liverpool fans and in my opinion you're a lot ore similar than you think but my word some of the posts in this thread are cringeworthy.

OLE 'i have always followed Utd results since I've left. They are my team'
No Utd fans have forgot that Gerrrad back pass.
You can convince yourselves however much you want that Utd will beat City. It won't happen. Never ever!

They will though. When City won a dodgy pen my Liverpool supporting mate had the cheek to comment on it. This was amidst the peak of the media actually picking up on Salah diving all the time. He acted like he was oblivious to that and when I mentioned it pretended I don't know what I'm talking about
Never underestimate the power of their delusion.

What? It's not even close. City have lost points almost every time when they had mediocre performances, and with Liverpool it's been the opposite. Not only that, in four games the opposition keepers literally gifted them wins in the final minutes. They've been good this year, but based on performances shouldn't really be that close to City, yet they are.
