Liverpool have had about 6 excellent performances all season and have been incredibly lucky in many of their games. They are very fortunate to have the points they have at this stage in the season.
The thing with us (Liverpool) is we've gone from one extreme to the other
Last season our front 3 were running wild drunk on goals and creative play being helped from the midfield
This season, its completely flipped, in that the energy is all in the defence, don't get me wrong, we haven't the "perfect" defence, but its the best in this league at the moment, and the midfield are doing a good solid job in aiding the defence.......but that's cost us the link up play to the from 3 which has subdued our attacking prowess.
The front 3 in Mane Salah and Firmino are all hitting similar stats to last season, Firmino is on track to equal last seasons goals and assists, Mané has in fact beaten his goals tally from last season already with 11 games still remaining, and Salah although not hitting last years heights (was he ever going to replicate that good a form?) has still got 17 goals and 7 assists to his name which you'd generally look at in this league and think.....thats so far a cracking season, sitting top of the League scorers chart etc
But the problem is they aren't getting the link up play from Midfield like other seasons, they cannot do it all on their own, and that is pretty much exactly what they are having to do most of the time this season, or it least it feels like that.
The front 3 are doing it, but there's no bridge between them and midfield and its too isolating

Same with Spurs. The only team in the top 3 that fully justifies their points total is Man City.
We've made our own luck in a sense, just like you have - If you have a defensively sound team, you're more likely to snatch 3 points instead of 1. But yeah, there's absolutely no doubt that we've been very fortunate at times.
All teams rely on a bit of luck though I would argue that our performances have been at least as good as Liverpools throughout the season (i.e. quite average on the whole). City will win the league by 6 points minimum.
Watford at home is a game I'm usually quite confident about, even after our average performances lately. There's absolutely no excuse not to be winning tomorrow if we wanna have a shot at the title.Points on the board & a decent run of games left, they haven't lost at home for over a year.
You've scored virtually the same amount of league goals as last season. So the problem is not the attack. Maybe there is no problem at all and this is your normal level. Results wise, you were punching above your level in the first half of the season. Remember the shocking performance against Huddersfield of all teams? It was soon brushed under the carpet but you had several performances like that and were lucky to win all of them. When you are at your dynamic best, you are terrific indeed. But this is not sustainable without rotation and you've barely rotated the front 3 plus VVD and Robertson who somehow have managed to avoid any injuries so far.

Quite wary of Everton away on the weekend though, it'd be typical Everton to actually live up to the occassion the one time we really need a win there Apart from Mane's 97' winner in 2016 which wasn't really deserved from what I remember, we haven't won there in the league since 2011.

If Everton get ANYTHING against Liverpool I'll eat my cat.
Yeah and the lack of replacements is very worrying. With Origi and Sturridge both not looking great and Shakiri a bit out of favour for some reason you would wonder what can be done. If Ox Chamberlain can come back sooner it could help but he will be a long time getting back to a decent level.I can understand that. I would also be worried about Salah’s performance. Probably the Bayern match earlier in the week had them a bit drained.
How many games have we actually been lucky in where it's directly impacted the result? You make it sound like we should be mid table. We've deserved to win most of the games we've won this season, even if we've not been as good to watch.Liverpool have had about 6 excellent performances all season and have been incredibly lucky in many of their games. I bet you hate dogs as well after reading your new thread in the general forum.I'll gladly remind you of this if/when the time comes.

Yeah, Fernandinho is a huge loss. Do we know how long he's out for? That's a big boost for Liverpool though, City don't really have a decent Fernandinho replacement.City will be without laporte and fernandinho. Losing fernandinho is a big bloew, the last 2 games they lost vs Lei and Palace he was injured.
It’s the midfield relationship with our attack that is the only thing missing.
Pep has said 5 games each for both Laporte and Fernandinho. It's most likely bullshit and they'll be back within a couple games, defensively they are City's best players imo so it will be a miss regardless.Yeah, Fernandinho is a huge loss. I think Klopp will be fine for now. He seems very committed to them and is being backed financially. Perhaps if they go big again in the summer and the board sell a Salah then some problems could emerge and he'll start to unravel. He's in the fourth year of his cycle. I think it will be another couple of seasons before he's vulnerable. What happens if you guys don't win the league this year and lose against Bayern? Will Mané, Salah, Van Djik want to leave? What about Klopp, do you think he has the heart to stay for another year to try and go again or might he leave with the rest?
So Firmino is fine. Might be back tonight, if not then the derby game. Liverpool continue their impressive run of not losing any star players to injury. Salah & Van Dijk not missed a game. Mane, Firmino, Robertson barely missing any action in the league.
City on the other hand have had big players missing all season and are going deep in 4 competitions. Pool have to win it this year you feel.
And yet we performed like crap after each one of those refreshing trips.Ox, Gomez and TAA being injured has cost us points but yes on the whole the first team has been intact. We've also been on two soft-muscle regenerating warm weather 'holidays'. Two! In one season! Being out of cups early has two sides to it.

Its all hotting up for the United vs city game.
As it stands united can't afford to drop any points if they want top 4.
Arsenal will probably run away with it though tbh.

Would gladly miss out on top 4 if it directly meant that Liverpool didn't win the league.
If it also meant City won the quadruple?
They won't.
The only thing Arsenal run away from are trophies. Its all hotting up for the United vs city game.

No way, United's interests first and foremost.
Arsenal couldn't run away from an amputee.
Fair enough, that's your opinion.
To me, missing CL for 1 season - if it meant Liverpool not winning the PL - is literally meaningless to me.
It's very unlikely that we'd win the CL anyway next season.
