Has to be down to mentally which we know is where Fergie was the master and all these others (Pep included) are just pretenders

People comlaining that Pogba takes a photo with Salah is the pinnacle of feckwittery.

The majority of old school fans will hate that photo. Can you imagine Roy Keane taking selfies with Robert Pires back in the day, I know the game is different now but still shouldn't do it. I'm just a normal fan and I wouldn't take a photo with Salah given the opportunity

No I can't, but I don't hold Roy Keane to be a shining example of what a footballer should be. Football is war, but only on the pitch, afterwards your athletes. Football and it's fans could stand to learn a thing or 500 from other sports.

Right before, during and right after the match I agree, you shouldn't be taking selfies with the opponent who just beat you in a title deciding match. But when you bump into eachother outisde of the sport it's fine to be friendly.

To each his own of course though :)

You wouldn't take a picture with one of the best players in world football because he plays for a team you don't like? :D

I absolutely and utterly despise United, but if I met Pogba or De Gea in the street I would absolutely want to talk to them and hopefully get a picture.

There's only about 4 teams won 3 in a row, like ever, aren't there.

Arguably it might be a little bit easier to pull off now though. If I say that there are fewer direct competitors to hold off.

The 1994 side, the 99-2001 side and the 2007-2009 sides were incredible. We who lived through those years were privileged, even if we didn't always realise it until years later.

Not quite old enough to remove the 1994 side but 2007/09 was incredible. Going into game expecting to win by a couple of goals, if we went 2-0 down at half time you always felt they would come back. Incredible. Hopefully we have another period of success and this time I certainly won’t take it for granted.

How well have Liverpool's fixtures been spaced out for them. Over Christmas they had 3 days more rest than Spurs for example and they have another 2 days on them for this game week. If I was a Spurs fan I would be livid, that is a massive advantage.

Yeah, this. Tribalism is fun in healthy doses but expecting players playing for rival clubs to hate each other with a passion is idiotic.

Yeah, think we paid the FA to space our fixtures out in this favourable way. Dreading the inquest at the end of the season.

I never said it was Liverpool's fault. It is a tv issue that that threatens the integrity and fairness of the league imo. I seem to remember Klopp himself making a song and dance about it last season(could have been the previous season). You can't deny Liverpool have had the most rest days in the league, even discounting the fact they went out of both domestic cups early. Spurs played the same day midweek and have over 2 days less rest this game week, that can't be right.

Honestly I wouldn't

It's fine to be friendly, I don't care about that. But what purpose does posting a photo on social media do? If Pogba knows the club as well as he should he should know that it will irritate a large portion of the fans which is something he shouldn't want.

Being one of the best players on Merseyside does not equate to being to being one of the best players in world football. Salah has performed reasonably well for Liverpool over the last year and a half but he will have to sustain that form for a good 2-3 year period in order to be included among the worlds elite. He is still nobody relatively speaking.

Plus he hasn't achieved anything of note within the game. The only thing he is remembered for is his shameful attempt to get Ramos sent off in the CL final.

You're not even trying any more.

My recollection of the event goes something like this; Salah notices Ramos approaching out the corner of his eye and immediately collapses to the ground in an attempt to get him sent off, but in doing so he injures himself and costs his team a chance (albeit a remote one) at winning the CL.

I imagine you saw something different?

Indeed I did.

Salah turns away from Ramos with the ball. They interlock arms (all very romantic) and Ramos goes over, dragging Salah down with him. Salah falls in a way which leads to him damaging his shoulder and is unable to fall.

Enter Karius.

I honestly wouldn't want a pic with any of Liverpool players. I will probably say hi but I don't care for a pic I think. It might be different if I ever get to meet them but let's say Salah or Mane are coming to a nearby place or something I would not go to meet them.

I get what Pogba/Salah are doing though. For them they are exceptional players first and then rivals. Off the pitch its different for them. I get it.

But first, let's experience the sentimental Ole Gunnar disaster years.
Completely off topic but I actually think he's a better direction for them to go in for now. He understands the club and the fans better than Moyes, LVG & Mourinho ever did.

I don't see us having a complete melt down but the big questions are 1) how consistent will City actually be & b) will it be enough to keep up with/overtake us?

In the same way Dalglish in 2010 understood Liverpool better than Hodgson. 'Pashun' and 'the United Way'. 'He just gets it'. I was saying those exact same things back then.

We will inevitably drop points to Everton, Man Utd and Chelsea at least. If City get back to even 85% they will likely win the title. 5 points is absolutely nothing at this stage of the season.

@Liver_bird counter jinx for you mate.

Yeah, those two three-peat teams are factually the two greatest Premier League era sides. They are the only sides that have actually defended their titles and won the Champions League. They were so great they added a third title for the hell of it. I think a minimum requirement to be truly classified as a truly great side should be either a repeat title and/or a European double. Sounds harsh especially on Arsenal's unbeaten season but there's a difference between excellent and great.

I think I took 1999/2000, 2000/2001 for granted a bit because the leagues became so piss easy for us. We won one of them by 18 points and the other we let off a bit and still won by 10 points. The transition between 2001 and 2006 and the glee others got from us not winning made me make sure to appreciate 2006-2009 more, plus I think we were pushed harder. Chelsea were a constant threat and Liverpool piped up and had the audacity to think they could win it in 2008/2009.

These Scousers might just bottle it you know? Lead fast disappearing...

Genuinely might come down to the City v Pool game.

Liverpool struggling at the minute. Lack of a right back makes the decision to loan Clyne even stranger.

Saw it coming a mile away. Not surprised in the slightest :boring: The lack of offensive depth was always going to be an issue this late into the season.

We could really spoil the party when we play them now. Feeling the heat!

How did they perform overall tonight?

I have seen them a couple of times this season and thought they were lucky in some games. I felt the genius of Salah was bailing them out. Against Wolves in Wolves, they were very lucky.

You mean defensive depth, surely?

Your first choice attackers have remained fit throughout the season.

You know what's really good? We're the ones that can send them down to second. At Old Trafford. That would be fantastic.
