It's difficult to assess this season as a whole since half it was played under a manager who had completely lost the plot. Who knows where we would be now had Ole been in charge from the start.

United have a far deeper squad than Liverpool. If you win the league it would have been done with the weakest squad in living memory. How you have been so fortunate with injuries this year is anyone's guess.

I think you're an injury or two to key personnel away from capitulation. Just an opinion.
Our squad is much better than Leicester’s was in 15/16. It’s also on par with yours imo right now imo.

This sounds like jumping the gun an awful, awful lot about Ole. Liverpool are on course for 95-100 points, they're better than us right now.

I hope City get ripped to shreds in the media for failing once again to retain the league. Sadly think everyone will be too busy crying tears of joy over Liverpool.
Except for, you know, every other football fan in England who will find it nauseating.

They have better first 11 than us for sure, but our squads as a whole are relatively comparable with United just ahead in terms of depth.

I don't think you can say that when their first XI is so much more functional and better than ours. I'd also disagree that we have better depth anywhere but CB than them, now that Darmian is gone.

I wonder what the reaction would be if the points and table positioning was reversed and we came on here proclaiming to be better than Utd. We'd be laughed off here.

Let's be honest, the only way Liverpool could win the league this year was through good fortune and City good through an odd losing streak. They certainly were not so kind last year when United was chasing them.

city at this stage last year only had 2 points more than we do right now. Your 2nd placed 'chase' last season would have you in 4th place this year at this stage.

It's strange to think only a month ago, when everyone was doing a combined Liverpool/Utd 11, many were saying no Utd player would get in.
Now you can probably argue at least 5 Utd players would.
Degea
Lindeloff
Pogba
Matic
Rashford

Lindeloff over Gomez? No way.

At this stage, I'd have Fabinho over Matic too. And Rashford is still not nearly as good a player as Firmino, hype notwithstanding.

Pogba obviously. De Gea probably too, though I do love Alisson.

But come on. You've had a nice run of a handful+ games, but those fixtures are all games we won as well when we played them. You've been starved for so long that you might not recognise that what passes for 'playing really well' at your place now is a normal saturday for us. The trees haven't even grown out of 6th place yet.

I have a bit of a man crush on Alisson. Hard to pick anyone over him for me.

Been having a better than De Gea at any rate, his saves against tottenham notwithstanding.

Then you really shouldn’t be criticising a United fan for picking United players, especially when you want to defend players like Fabinho.

Allison has never and will never be better than de Gea, and it is only a Liverpool fan that would argue otherwise.

De Gea probably .
Off the line I'd say both Alisson and Ederson are better than him. So when you concede few shots at your goal, you might want someone who is better at distributing balls to initiate attacks.

De Gea - he's the best shot stopper in the world, but slightly worse in distribution. Right now with half of our defence missing I'd take DDG, but when TAA and Gomez return Alisson should be more beneficial.
Lindeloff - I'd take Gomez
Pogba - yes, sure, if he's on his game
Matic - no, Fabinho is good for us lately, plus can cover for RB and CB.
Rashford - maybe instead of Mane

Ever since the Pickford howler I've felt they will do it. Now Speroni plays his part to keep the 3 points ticking over.

The role reversal nowadays makes me sad. Scousers used to be like "refs giving Utd the title" "luck" "we might be miles behind them but we have better players" now it's us doing it and it's beyond cringeworthy. We really need to sort our shit out.

Liverpool to win the league, Ole gets given the job full-time, then Fergies protege knocks them off their fecking perch. Poetry in motion.

Looks like Chamberlain will be back soon. He was training in Dubai with Lovren, Woodburn and some other players coming back from injury.

That injury was horrific.

Good to see someone noticing at least

No one is doubting that De Gea is an incredible keeper. It’s just his strengths are shown so well at United because you don’t have a team that dominates games and he is regularly required to make tremendous saves.

Weaknesses with regards to distribution etc are overlooked.

City and Liverpool tend to dominate games more. Shot stopping is obviously the priority which Allison and Ederson are both very good at (but not as good at De Gea), but they are far better than him when it comes to distribution.

Essentially, United have the right goalkeeper for them, and Pool and City have the right goalkeepers for their teams.

You can beat around every bush you like. De Gea is the best keeper.

I love that Salah is hated by everyone bar Liverpool fans now. I don’t want them to like him at all. Suarez (except from inexcusable actions) was the same.

It's not a good thing, not if he's getting far too much attention on the back of it.

It'll mean that he will be targeted by opposition players more often for nasty fouls (saw this with Alli and Bale) and his consistent cheating will mean that referees will tell him to get up even if he has a legitimate case. Another toe over the line and it's possible he'll be getting a retrospective ban, as well.

I don't understand why you'd want a player at your club to cheat. I hate it when Alli dives and I'm furious whenever he goes in for a stupid tackle. Generally, when a player gets scrutinised too it's not a good thing, you feel like people like Suarez adore the villain role and lap it up, but I don't see that in Salah. I don't think he'll enjoy all the negative attention at all since he'll be so used to people buying his 'good guy Salah' act.

Wasn’t it you who had a “sneaky feeling” Palace would take points off us?

Great call, life coach. You suck at every single aspect of life.

I mean, it wasn't exactly a terrible call was it? Came very close, far closer than you are most weeks. Palace gave you a great game, I mean ffs I had a 'sneaky feeling' Huddersfield would take points off City, I don't think he was going to be giving any life coaching advice on the back of hunches .

Had they not had a pensioner who hasn't played in years manning the goal, you would probably have dropped points.

Fecking hell I can't even remember posting that :wenger: Must've been Saturday night.

De Gea probably not, only because i dont believe hes as good with his feet in terms of his passing. Lindelof no thank you at moment. Dont think hes any better than Matip or Lovren and certainly not as good as vvd or Gomez. Matic again wouldnt get in ahead of Fabinho or Winaldum and lacks energy. That leaves Rashford and Pogba and though both are playing well at the moment only Rashford convinces me as a Klopp type.

Can't expect much from Chamberlain immediately. Would be fantastic if he could return to his previous level eventually - he really did look some player.
