Cost of our squad compared to others in Europe. I think it’s the latest one available from UEFA. We may have moved up a few places when the next one is released due to Alisson and VVD but will likely still be quite far off the biggest squad costs. It follows on from the point @dino76m was making earlier basically about bang for buck.

Our transfer business has improved massively over the last few seasons. The next step is holding onto high value players. Despite Utd not being hugely successful over the last few seasons, compared to Madrid, Barca etc you have still kept hold of De Gea. We need to get to that level.

Not sure how is it relevant today as you spent more than 320 million from 2017-18 summer.

We've also released Can for free and sold Coutinho for quite a lot. Don't know how they count but those two should have reduced our squad cost by 100m+. So in the end our squad cost may or may not reflect the money spent.

Not for sale
While CEO Peter Moore is unequivocal in saying that Liverpool is not for sale, he says that the club remains open to offers from groups or individuals interested in acquiring a minority stake. “[The club] is not discourteous enough to discount people who say they are interested,” he notes. “The club has made it very clear that if the right partner is interested in a minority stake, they would consider that.”

In late August 2018, it was reported that Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) turned down a $2.6bn takeover bid from a cousin of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour, Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. At the time, Britain’s Press Association said it understood that the offer – one of a number of approaches FSG has received in recent years – did not go further than the vetting stage because it was deemed to be neither credible nor worthy of being put to the ownership.

Purchase price in 2010 stated to be £300M. Current valuation is £1.5B. Selling a 20% stake recaptures the initial investment. Not bad FSG

You have got to take your hats off to FSG. It's amazing how in 3 years they have transformed this club on and off the pitch.

Yup. We don't have oil rich sugar daddies, but we have owners that know what they're doing & want the club to succeed - You can't ask for more than that.

Well don't hold your breath, I'm sure FSG won't turn down a offer from oil sugar daddies soon.

Highly possible of course, but said sugar daddies would be buying a profitable, traditional big club with a global fanbase already in place. As opposed to City, Chelsea and PSG at the time of purchase. Would be interesting to see what would happen if a sugar daddy took over us or you lot, arsenal, juve, AC/Inter e.t.c.

Brilliant business by FSG either way. Making a huge profit on their investment asset-wise and keeping the club debt free.

Liverpool is not debt free. As at the last accounts, there was £72m in secured debt, plus £110m in shareholder loans from FSG. You can argue about whether or not shareholder loans is truly debt, but the £72m secured debt surely is.

Tickets for Liverpool's final home game are going for £6,000 (Sunday Mirror). Finally they are admitting it they will be champions. I can see hotel prices going up very soon too, better get them rooms booked for the title party!

That's either hospitality which is always expensive, or it's people scalping, which is shit.

Liverpool are not charging £6000 per seat for the final home game.

Of course it's scalping. People will pay through the nose at the chance to maybe see their club lift their first title in 3 decades.

Well we all know they are a Travel Lodge short. Hopefully they’ll be 1 point short of winning the PL as well, now that would be like watching that video all over again.

In today’s football that equates to petty cash. To a well run top PL club any way and although I dislike Liverpool (putting it politely, it is Sunday) they are a very stable club with some very good players so I would say that Liverpool and it’s owners/shareholders are not bothered one jot about £72million.

I saw some interesting comments from guardiola about why he agreed to move Everton game forward

City now play arsenal Chelsea & Everton in one week. Seems he is gambling on putting the pressure on early

I think Liverpool will win the league comfortably should they avoid defeat at Old trafford

Do you mean Newcastle? I can't see Everton in their schedule. There's also almost 2 weeks between their game tomorrow and the game against Chelsea.

Honestly I can't see them dropping points at home to either Arsenal or Chelsea.

Guardiola (from LiveScore)

Guardiola explained the decision to bring forward City's game at Everton to February 6 – the fixture had been scheduled for EFL Cup final weekend – means his players will not have a day off around a match sandwiched by home matches against Arsenal and Chelsea.

It is a workload he believes they should relish.

"When I prepared the schedule between Arsenal and Chelsea, we had eight days. Suddenly we play Everton in between. I cannot give a day off," he added, with City back in action at Newcastle United in the Premier League on Tuesday. "We have a lot of games, so no way.

"But at the same time I tell them it's a privilege. If you believe it's a handicap, that's a big mistake. It's a privilege.

"When you are 35 years old you can have long holidays. No problem, you will be retired. Take a year for holidays.

"But for now it's a privilege. Take it, enjoy it. Next one, win again. The competition doesn't matter. Win again, play good, prepare well. That's the only way. After, you work for the next season."

Ah cheers, didn't know that! I think there's definitely a psychological element to it yes, it's better to be 1 point behind with an extra game than 7 points behind with a game in hand, even if it's just to put pressure on Liverpool. Would be greaf the Toffees could do us a favour next week then but can't see it happening.

So if Pep's plan works out, City will be a point behind when Liverpool come to Old Trafford?

What a game that is going to be.

This is something I have been mulling over recently.

Consider this, God is a United fan.

If you are prepared to run with that fairly safe assumption then you will arrive at the same conclusion I did a while back; Liverpool will not, under any circumstances whatsoever, leave Old Trafford with so much as a point. So it is written, so it is done.

I'd put my house on it if I could.

Then after putting your house on it we come to Old Trafford and win.

God in his infinite wisdom determines that the devils shall have a say in the title race though. This comes in the form of a beating handed out to City, putting Liverpool 7 points clear. City lose again the week after and boom, Liverpool are 10 clear with about 10 games to play.

Random Task is homeless and curses God.

Klopper takes up devil worshiping.

Amen.

I have to say that Liverpool surprised me this season, as i didn't expect them to win all the games where they are favorites. That was their problem in the past years, the always lost so many points against the smaller sides and didn't have that winning mentality. However, I still think City has by far a better team and will win the title at the end of the season. Salah may be top scorer in the moment, but he is not even close to the class that has Aguero, or De Bruyne, or David Silva.

I think VVD and Alisson helped Liverpool a lot with the mentality this season, as they are almost perfect in defence. But, as I said, I expect them to lose a few points when Champions League action re-starts.

Like it :D

Houses are overrated. I'd settle for an appropriately sized box made of cardboard as long as the wifi signal was half-way decent.

You taking up devil-worshipping is just another way of saying you will swap allegiance to United (), am I correct?

Let's have a bet. If United lose, I must make myself homeless (which I'm good with under the right circumstances) but if Liverpool lose, you have to support United.

How does that tickle your fancy?

If this is a joke, I am deeply offended by it.

I can't do it. The risk of having to support United is too great and I know we're more than capable of bottling a title challenge.

Also how am I supposed to verify that you're homeless if Liverpool win the league?

1. Grow a pair.

2. Trust me.

Klopp said today that Van Dijk trained yesterday and today. It's RB where we're a bit short. No TAA, no Gomez, maybe no Fabinho and Milner's suspended.

Sky sources living up to their reputation then

They're just a bit slow. James Pearce from the Liverpool Echo said last night that Van Dijk was a doubt but then Klopp had his presser today and said that he did train recently.

I remember when Sky were the most reliable source of information for everything.

God is a red, he hates scousers...

I would hate city more for not winning the PL this season

Liverpool fans, what is explanation from Klopp about Clyne? Loaning ( good) backup full back while you have a chance to win first title after 30 years is the most stupid decision ever.
