Yeah it was mentioned a lot, to be fair he did play at both LB and CB but not DM. I've also heard that in arguments for signing Lindelof and bizarrely have heard fans saying Wan Bissaka should get a run in midfield. I'd just rather we go for Timber personally, he was clearly the preferred choice.
Pau Torres would be my choice if we aren't going for Timber. Has been proven himself in Europe as well as for Spain. Think we should drive to sign him for £40-45m, Villarreal will probably be willing to sell.

Frenkie and Pogba are very different passers. Frenkie is an awesome in-between the line passer, better than Pogba possibly.
Pogba has more vision for creative passes over long distance.
Martinez has both to a very high level.

This is exactly what United need a the moment. Add to that Lisandro doesn't need long seconds to think where to pass and it could make for a perfect alternative to majority of linked targets at the moment for United. (Paredes, Rabiot etc.)
This also means ETH could push Fred bit more to advanced role.
Where would Bruno play? Or you see him as an FDJ alternative?
First of all Bruno would have to return to his former self. No privileges to underperforming players should be mantra in United football culture. Interest in Eriksen should reinforce that to a higher extent.
While FDJ is comfortable as number 8 there's no fear Ten Hag will have to overthink this. If he'll need energy in midfield to battle it out with more tenacious opponents he could even resort to Lisandro-Fred as energetic duo. The more options he'll have, it'll be easy to find solutions, especially vs defending opponents in Premier League, which was huge problem for United to break in more than couple of seasons. Then he can use both FDJ, Bruno / Eriksen to boost creativity just like City does, when on top of their group of highly creative players they're still adding creative wingers & midfielders.
Six senior United players left already and few others will follow, plenty of room to manuever in adding pieces of puzzle. Lisandro & FDJ for Matić & Pogba will definitely help Ten Hag to play his favourite stuff. Bruno will have to be on his toes to remain significant. No other way around, no matter how much we love him as player.
Looks quality, actually makes a lot of sense to be fair. He could be our starting CDM but also be a backup CB. Keep Varane, Maguire, Lindelof as the first options and he can fill in if required.
I have a feeling that we'll get Martinez now and Timber in January after the WC. Varane is too injury prone and Bailly is on the way out. I won't be surprised if we see Timber slotting as tiny Varane's replacement with tinier Martinez in a sort of anchor role with De Jong/Fred as deep lying playmaker and Bruno/VDB as an AMC.
I bet he has to twist the grocery bag handles a few times to prevent the bags from scraping the floor.
He might even have cervical disks anomalies from having to look up all day.
I like him a lot for Arsenal as LB and LCB cover. He would be an even better fit for LCB in a team playing three at the back.

He has played 22 professional games in midfield in a 176 game career, and hasn't played there in three years: He was a defender in Argentina, came to Ajax as a defender, then had one year where he split time between CB and DM, before once again becoming a defender. I cannot imagine that Ten Hag's plan is to play him in midfield for United next year. Midfielders in general often take time to adjust to the PL and throwing a guy with so little experience in midfield into that role in the PL would be an insane thing to do.

After reading the transfer forum for the past few years, this is what I think this place would rate Barcelona 2011, a team widely considered to be the best in history as claimed by SAF, if the entire team were linked to United:

LB - Abidal (Solid defender but not good enough going forward for a top team, can't even score goals)
CB - Mascherano (Too fecking short, PL forwards would eat him alive)
CB - Pique (Too fecking slow and there is a reason why he can't get minutes from Vidic and Rio)
RB - Alves (Good offensively but can't defend for shit, any good team would be able to exploit him easily)
DM - Busquets (Too slow and static on the field, and he is a fecking cnut too)
CM - Xavi (Great player but his lack of physicality will be exploited in PL)
CM - Iniesta (Amazing technically, but he dwells on the ball too much and likes to dribble, he won't get that much space in PL)
LW - Pedro (Useless one trick pony tap in merchant, PL defenders won't give him that many opportunities)
RW - Messi (Sensational player but won't be able to adapt to the physicality of PL, the defenders will hack at him all day long and he will spend half the season with physios)

Timber, Antony, Martinez; any validity on those rumours of United hiring Snow White?
Also an Ajax fan here, IMO Timber is higher risk but also higher potential. Martinez is more allround, at this point better defensively. Better tackler, much more physical. Martinez is also not very tall though, but wont be bullied for sure. Martinez can be a bit more reckless at times (real South American), but other times he'll be very composed. Martinez is not the quickest, but also not slow.
Martinez is more experienced and physically quite a bit stronger at this point. Clearly stronger in the air as well. Timber is quicker and probably a bit better in 1v1 against a skillful attacker. Timber has the higher ceiling, but Martinez may be more suited for PL football at this point. It's close though.
I wish you'd just stay away. But if I had to choose I'd rather have that you take Martinez, since we can move Blind back to LCB. Replacing Timber will be more difficult for us at this point.
I think the price tag for Martinez will be a little higher than Timbers, cause he's more experienced and has a 3 year contract left whereas Timber has two years left.
I liked him in Argentina and was the standout at the time from that League and I've liked him when I've seen him at Ajax too. He's not the biggest but he's tenacious and you can see that he actively enjoys competing for the ball and putting in a strong challenge. This is something Blind would do as well. And yes in the good ways he's quite similar, but will also run with the ball instead of always passing like Blind, but he's better in the air and faster so less likely for physical qualities to bother him. Way better all round and more experienced and versatile than Timber
I think we will refer back to our scouting options and get Pau. No way we would of let ETH boost Timber to number 1 option and then remove our back up options totally.
