Given how much we need to do this guy and Timber make sense given their versatility to cover CB, DM and RB respectively.

yes cause Ajax is definitely going to straight up sell their entire backline in one summer.
Not sure he's that impressive relative to the others. Could be very wrong though
He's actually been one of their best players. And along with Daley Blind, his ability to break the lines is impressive. Not sure he's that impressive relative to the others. Could be very wrong though
He was voted their player of the year award.
Ah, I must be very wrong there then. The only Ajax games I watched were from the cup final onwards last season! He's actually been one of their best players. And along with Daley Blind, his ability to break the lines is impressive.
Is he a bit of a utility man a la Blind, or does he have more of a fixed position?
I would take Lisandro Martinez over Timber every day of the week - was actually quite surprised we were linked with Timber at all given Lisandro exists.

Faster than Timber in chasing (without the ball). He's more developed, and mature. However, I reallyHow quick is he?
He's 24 right, you think he has maxed out his full potential?Faster than Timber in chasing (without the ball). He's more developed, and mature. However, I really
think unlike Timber, there is not much room for improvement, in which his size would be liability for him if he's being used solely as a CB in PL.
Perhaps, I worded it wrong in my previous. I meant as a CB I don't think he would be any better than what he's shown now. He's very reliant on the system for him to work as CB. He's an aggressive defender. The way I saw ETH utilize him is similar to how LVG used Smalling: a destroyer. Will man mark until the end of the world (possession phase) even if it means to continue running into opposition half. He's not the real organizer of the defensive line. He's 24 right, you think he has maxed out his full potential?
Aside his not being tall what are his weaknesses in an applied sense like concentration, Tackling, aerial duel, positioning.....is he calm or an aggressive type, is his current level already good enough for a title contending side?
I doubt it. We're not going into the season with only three centre backs. Varane has had a lot of injuries recently so we'll need plenty of cover and it also gives ten Hag the freedom to play a back three if necessary. You have to wonder if it this points to an intended departure for Lindelof or Maguire? Otherwise, someone ends up in the same position as Bailly, hardly figuring at all.

I doubt Ten Hag is signing him to sit on the bench or be a “fourth” option. One of the current CBs will definitely be dropped if he’s signed.Well, we currently have six. And if last season (which included significant injury time for Varane, and also some for Maguire) is anything to go by, the fourth man would see only a very small handful of games. If they're considering three at the back it's different of course.
