If we look at last season, Varane, Maguire and Martinez were out injured for significant amount of time. Bailly has the benefit that he can be good in a match even though he hasn’t played any matches lately, however he has often been unavailable due to injuries when he was needed.
most of that clip was him from playing CDM. I'd quite like to see him play there as we currently don't have a player in midfield capable of playing like that.
Put Fernandes and De Jong ahead with Sancho/Rashford/Martial up top and we're flying.
yeah this is basically it. Only maybe in his first season when played in the midfield did he ever look off the pace. Other than he's the most consistent performer we have, and it's always at least a 7
All fair enough, however Sancho had some additional circumstances not working in his favour. The EURO's, illness during pre season, the worst United in a few years, and a coach that clearly didnt have a plan for him.
Why are his poor performances accredited mainly to the league but not those of Martial, Rashford and in lesser extent Greenwood after his good start?
It will be interesting to see how Martinez will deal with the physicality of this league, but in terms of the pace and press, he should be much better suited to it than all our CB's I reckon. The CB position is also less affected by it than further up in midfield or attack I think.
Think Eriksen will be used more in rotation with Fernandes and Sancho when needs be, but certainly a good addition.Don't forget star boy Eriksen

Bailly is a lost cause and the odds of him turning corner is far too little. Nobody wants Tuanzebe anyway for it to matters.

You have a very imaginative mind, none of this will happen apart from the signing martinez. Baileys to injury prone so will probably play about 5 games a season. There’s no links what so ever for Patrik Schick, so don’t get why a lot of people are saying we’ll buy him. Don’t think we’ll get belotti, more chance of Ronaldo staying. Antony, martinez, eriksen and FDJ are the 4 players we want to sign next.
Somebody would give us money for both Maguire and VDB. VDB might even go back to Ajax if that was a possibility. I'm not sure Maguire would be the player that got sold out of the three though, think it would be Varane.

Bailly hasn't had a single season with us where he hasn't picked up at least two lengthy injuries. I love the guy but he's crocked.
Plenty of players have over come worse injuries than his double leg break and returned to play. It's not an excuse anymore. You also can't blame Shaw for Maguire's positioning being exposed, you could blame him for not staying with the line and playing people onside as he did several times last year.
He's just not driven enough to be as good as he should be consistently. He's just another player who shows up when he wants to or thinks he has a point to prove. Like when Telles came in, it shouldn't take that to light a fire in him.
I personally hope Malacia comes in shows him up for what he is and puts him in his rightful place, on the bench or better still out the door.
