Looking forward to watching the full game. Curious to see how he performed.
You don't see this in the PL . What PL games have you been watching over the years? seriously. Worse has happened in the PL, your post doesn't even make sense. If you want a handy example easily found in highlight, just look at how Adams simply chest-controlled Bazunu's long ball and took a shot at 38th minute. You don't see this in PL.
There have been many of us, who have been saying that for 4-5 years on here. For some reason, he has a really passionate fanbase, who defends him better than he does.
Martinez has been a breath of fresh air. He's not immaculate and there are situations where he's susceptible but he's a very good prospect.
Not just stat sites. I see many people here who "watched a different game" struggle too.
Like I said apart from these, Martinez is solid overall. We just need to sort out a way to avoid opponents from exploiting his weakness, like how Smalling accompanied Blind back in the days.I still think he had a very good game in the main, but there were definitely a few moments where his size was an issue.
Night and day with someone like Lindelof as some have already mentioned. Lisandro is impactful, Lindelof a bystander.
I think that's okay. Player are rarely perfect in every aspect of their game. It's a team game and where he lacks others should chip in and vice versa. If you want a handy example easily found in highlight, just look at how Adams simply chest-controlled Bazunu's long ball and took a shot at 38th minute. There are also plenty of similar examples in the second half, which I will pay attention when I review the game (and hopefully make a personal highlight if I have time).
Yes apart from these Martinez is solid. But you also can't turn a blind eye on his weakness. The "5/5 aerial duels" is clearly delusive and ignores all those duels where he backed off and gave up to contest.
I used to joke that a wheelie bin would do better than Lindelof. Now a guy the size of a wheelie bin is doing that
Now people are starting to see the difference in having an aggressive, front foot minded defender and passive ones like Maguire and Lindelof.
Did got turned a few times. But bullied? No.Constantly bullied by Adams. No way he's MOM.
I didn’t watch the game, I was at Legoland. Refused to watch any highlights. That’s certainly the media narrative and my assumption of that game too.Just heard Martin Keown on BT say that Toney dominated him
Well it's wrong.I didn’t watch the game, I was at Legoland. Refused to watch any highlights. That’s certainly the media narrative and my assumption of that game too.

Yes.Are the Argentina chants out yet?
He's doing really well. It'll be interesting to see what his performances are like when he grows up and joins the senior team.Player of the month.
It's a massive difference - night & day.
Very good at intercepting and clearing the ball, stopped several attacks by doing that when stepping up. The negative; a bit weak/poor in the box at some occasions and the whole back line were slow on the ball.
If a player has to back out of an aerial duel because they are unlikely to win it while another center back goes up, challenges for it, and wins it because they are more capable, then yes it absolutely is an important factor to consider. The aerial duel stat has already been shown in this thread to be incredibly misleading/flat out wrong. Is a poster really complaining that the 5/5 stats for aerial duels is misleading because the player correctly picks when to attack the ball in the air or if to go for the second ball/ defend a ground duel?
