Excellent performance. Hopefully he makes the spot his and goes from strength to strength.
 
He's like Bailly but less brainfart. fecking immense performance.

Cannavaro, for instance, looked 6'2" and people were always shocked to learn his actual height. He was built like a tank, was powerful and had a huge leap. If we had prime Cannavaro, the likes of Toney and Welbeck would never think they had the beating of the guy in the air.

Martinez genuinely looks like an U15 player- he has a tiny frame, is skinny and is slow. If nobody had seen us play before and they saw Shaw playing at LB and Martinez at CB, they would think there had been a mix up.

He needs to play in a 3 man back line or possibly at LB. I doubt he has the tools to play at DM where physicality is just as important as CB.

This aged well!
 
MOTM. He's going to cost us in some games but it will be worth it overall. The number of times today he bullied their forwards, blocked shots and made life saving tackles.

This always amazes...who cares?! The important thing is playing well and be a leader on the pitch.

That’s one of the best performances I’ve seen in a Liverpool derby and only his 3rd match in premier league. Fecking awesome!!
 
Thats excactly what I want to see from a CB.
Only real warriors could save us from this mess. And this guy is ridicoulus. Wow, what a performace!

That was pretty much everything we could have hoped for when buying him. So calm on the ball and an absolute warrior. Plus some serious mental strength to put in that kind of performance after everything that’s been said recently.
 
Really good, he doesn't give anyone a second, I'd say he's incredibly annoying to have marking you.

I do think he will struggle a little with teams with a big physical striker but if we can deliberately provide him help with that from our other center half, I think we’ve got a good player here!
 
What a performance. Exactly what we needed against Liverpool, helped set the tone from the off.
