He’s looking like the best defender we’ve had at the club in over a decade.

You almost take for granted just how consistent he is. His aggression and composure on the ball never drops in any game. Best player on the pitch again tonight.

I was worried about Sorloth bullying Lindelof today. Genius move by ETH to put Martinez on him instead.

Massive loss for the next game. Almost wish he was sent off now, you can appeal those.

This guy is fecking incredible and gives me hope every single game.

I’m still waiting for him to be found out after my concerns early on. He’s having absolutely none of it.

He was up against a giant today and had him deep in his pocket. Outjumping him on a few occasions too.

He’s not a player. He’s a monster in a footballers kit.

If it's just based on this half-season only to judge the level, I'd say it's only Stam that close to him. Most complete United CB i've seen since mid 90's.

Real Madrid is cpming for him, or will soon, hope he stays.

Aye, that’s 2 bullshit decisions that have gone against him now that have really fecked us over in this season in Europe. If we’re going to go on and win this it’s certainly going to be the hard way.
As a wider point, I’m sick of getting fecked by the refs in Europe. Can you think of a time we’ve benefitted/progressed because of a dodgy decision in our favour? Maybe they don’t stick out as much but I actually can’t.

PSG!

Seems to be a regular occurrence for us in Europe and nah I’m struggling to think of an occasion myself. They say these things even themselves out, if that’s the case then we’re due a shit ton of decisions going our way as the season goes on.

That’s a pen tbf. We don’t get it without Var though so I can see why you’d say it was fortunate.

Yeah maybe that’s why it felt that way at the time. Let’s be honest though, the shot was going nowhere near the goal.

The Rashford penalty. Technically a pen under the laws at the time, but nah. If that went against us then everyone would be in rage mode.
The rage wouldn’t be valid though. It was a clear pen.

Dodgy decisions are the pen against us at old trafford. That wasn’t even dodgy, it was just categorically wrong.

One word "Monster" drop mic!!

Absolute favourite player at United. Hopefully he will win a lot of trophies and have a legend tag with United by the time he retires.

I think I'm in love. Who knew that we were building up good karma with all the previously shit Argentinians? Well, it was totally worth it!

Not wanting to derail the thread but there were loads of pundits saying it probably wasn’t a pen. It definitely wouldn’t have been a pen under the laws in previous seasons either. It wasn’t “clear”.

I use to look at our team sheets over the years and look for Beckham, Ronaldo, Rooney and Van Nistelrooy and think yes theyre playing. Now I think Martinez is in that category or “ if we are going to win we need him starting”

The guy is world class I haven't even seen the game but just know on the basis of what yes showed already

He was immense tonight. I’d say one of his best games so far but the truth is he’s at this level every game. Barring the first 2 games of the season (which I don’t think he was at fault for much), this guy has been a beast.

Impeccable yet again. Won a header against Sorloth, leaving him dazed in the process as well. Too short to make it my butt.

Sooooooo. He misses our next European game after getting a yellow card for being nearly killed by a reckless challenge by a Sociedad player. Having previously had a penalty awarded against him in one of the worst decisions ever. A penalty that cost us first place in the table. Referees in the Europa this season. Honest to God…

was he ever captain for ajax? because this lad is everything you would want in one!

He's been so consistent so far. An absolute rock that should 100% start for Argentina in the WC.

He was ace, and his yellow was never a yellow

misses the next game, so we're probably fecked

Skysports, the main outlet pushing the height agenda have an article on him now, praising his performances with the line, and I quote:

There is just no accountability or shame for these dog shite outlets is there.

Dignity is the art of aquiring for oneself the permission to lie and pretend one has no egg on one’s face when one’s face is soaked in egg.

Martinez is, nonetheless, fantastic. For two games he has won every aerial duels against 195 cm aerial specialist Alexander Sörloth. When the ball fell to the ground, he just walked over and calmly picked the ball off him to slot a ball through one or two lines.
