Always look forward to your posts FCMadrid, the most unbiased poster I can remember.

The incredible thing is that Messi does things in real games that most world class players would be proud of doing in training or on playstation.

It has come to a point where I don't get surprised with the stuff this lad produces; always expect the extraordinary with this lad. And what I love about him is that he uses the most simple yet devastatingly effective moves (simple feints and change of direction) to produce his magic. Many try to over-complicate things with too many step-overs and what not whereas Messi just does things with minimum effort; it's a different kind of showboating I guess. You feel his game is just more natural than everybody else's; he has an incredible mastery of the football and an innate understanding of how to glide past helpless defenders - in fact you could see this in his very early days. You can't teach that shit, it is hardwired in him.

I think Messi will score 100 goals in one season before he retires. That's what? 2 goals per game in a 50 game season, piece of cake for this creature.

Yep, I'll see him score a fantastic chip or take it round 4 players and just shrug it off as he does it pretty much every week. If a United player did that I would be straight in that GIF thread and demanding to see it. He's just scarily good.

Now Pele says Lionel Messi isn’t even as good as Neymar

Pele holds up a Maradona shirt given to him as a joke. (Reuters)
We know Pele won't even entertain the idea that Lionel Messi is as good (let alone better) than he was until Messi scores 1,283 goals and wins three World Cups like he did, but now Pele says that the Argentine isn't even as good as Santos' 20-year-old sensation Neymar.
Speaking at a press conference celebrating Santos' centenary, Pele took his position as the world's foremost Messi troll to a new level (via Goal.com):
"Now everyone is talking about Messi, he is a star. But [to be the best ever] he must first become better than Neymar," he asserted.
"At the moment Messi is just more experienced."
By Pele logic, doesn't Messi have to be better than Neymar because he's scored more goals and won more trophies? Or, as Maradona recently said, did Pele just get his pills mixed up again?
On the subject of Maradona, a reporter from a comedy show presented Pele with a Maradona Argentina shirt during the press conference, prompting Pele to clarify his opinion of the Al Wasl coach.
"You [journalists] are always saying that I am Maradona's rival, but it is not true. I was never his rival, and he was a great attacking midfielder."
"...but not as great as Kaka."

Pele in talking a load of shit shocker  OMG

For a minute I was thinking why the feck would a Madrid fan be posting gifs of Messi, so I stared and stared at them trying to see if he did some cheat thing or something... Meanwhile I was thinking damn it's weird there are two Spanish club supporters on here with FC/club name as their username, it must be some weird Spanish thing.

Then I realised I'm an idiot.

Bonkers.

There are no more superlatives left to describe this phenom. I swear Messi's an alien from the planet Zorg where he's considered an average player. Surely...

Usually when I watch top players I can identify with how they're playing. Even if I know it's irrational there's still a part of me that thinks I can be that good. With Messi I don't get that feeling at all. Every part of me knows I'll never play like that.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean here.

Deep down, there's always that feeling of "aww, I bet I could play with this lot on a good day...I'd just have to think a bit quicker", but with Messi....can you even imagine coming up against him one-on-one?

It would be an absolutely fecked up experience. You'd be clinically retarded by the time he'd gotten past you.

Pele seems to commment more and more as Messi breaks records and cements his place in the pantheon of greats.

Agree with Brwned though, this greatest of all time tosh is pointless. Far too many variables.

Best I've ever seen is all I can say.

Pele is just a massive WUM. He's lived off the 'greatest ever' tag for about 50 years and isn't going to give it up now.

could be a baby-girl though - but more importantly won't be able to do it at on a windy night at Stoke.

He's finally scored without Xavi or Iniesta!... (I hope)

nope - I heard it was Xavi who introduced them first, so another assist for Xavi.

:lol::lol::lol:

intesting interview to messi was published on "The Sun"

of course, it has it's unavoidable misleading title, but the article is fine

I never want to play in England

ENGLISH fans will get a rare glimpse of the world’s greatest player on Wednesday night when Lionel Messi comes to town with Barcelona.

The player who is braced to shatter every conceivable individual goal record this season expects to be at his destructive best against Chelsea.

But, today, Messi finally shatters the dreams of home supporters who dared to believe that one day the Argentinian superstar would be lured to these shores.

The 24-year-old marksman would court the attention of every ambitious club across the globe if he ever made himself available.

But it’s the Barcelona fans that will openly rejoice at his decision to pledge his future to the club for life and turn his back on talk of ever leaving the club.

“I have never thought about life beyond Barcelona. My heart belongs to the club and I can never see the day arrive when I want to leave.

“It has always been my intention to stay here since the very first day I arrived and nothing has convinced me to change my mind.

"I accept you never know what can happen in the future but if it’s my decision and my decision alone then I would be happy to finish my playing career at the club.”

Messi admits that he is a huge fan of the English game and frequently watches games on television.

But his love of English football only extends to being a spectator and he harbours no ambitions to play here.

He added: “The Premier League is immensely exciting and when I get the opportunity I love to watch it on television. There is a great deal to admire about English football.

“It’s very competitive and played at a phenomenal speed. They play with their heart, with plenty of emotion, spirit and determination.

“And the supporters are enthusiastic, passionate and very fair. I know from my experience of playing against English clubs how their supporters appreciate good football and talent.

“English clubs are tough, strong and very physical but when the game comes to a end they are always humble, fair and decent even in defeat.

“But I could never see the day arrive when I would play in England. It’s hard to look beyond my own club and it’s not something I have ever thought about or considered.”

Messi’s two goals against Levante in La Liga last night saw him equal the English league record of 63 goals in a season set by Everton’s Dixie Dean back in 1927-28.

And beyond Dean, Messi could also challenge Ferenc Deak’s total of 66 goals scored for Hungarian side Ferencvaros during the 1948-49 season, Brazil legend Pele’s 66-goal tally for Santos in 1958 and Gerd Muller’s 67 with German giants Bayern Munich 1972-73.

But individual accolades are unimportant to the man who won the FIFA Ballon d’Or prize for the best player AGAIN in 2011, becoming only the fourth player in history to win the trophy three times.

Messi: “Goals are only important if they lead to success. If they don’t they are unimportant. I’m far more interested in the collective success of the team and not individual accolades.

“I score goals because I play with wonderful players, truly talented players so without them I wouldn’t find the net with such increasing regularity.

“Naturally I am proud of my achievements and the success I have had with Barcelona but I don’t dwell on it. It’s not something I think about all the time.

“I think the time to appreciate what you have achieved arrives at the end of your career and not before. Perhaps then I can look back with great memories. In the meantime I just want to concentrate on playing and being successful.”

Messi isn’t taking the challenge of Chelsea lightly, either. Critics have already written off the Premier League side’s chances of beating the European Cup holders before a ball has even been kicked.

But Messi is taking nothing for granted. He said: “There are no easy games when you reach the knockout stage.

“Our opponents are there on merit and we do not take any threat likely. There is no room for complacency or presumption.

“Chelsea are playing without expectations or pressure in some respects because everyone expects Barcelona to win.

“But they have vast experience and we will treat them with the utmost respect. Games in the past have been very close, there was not much in them.”

yes, duh, but only because he plays for stoke

i'd like to see shawcross breaking femurs wearing another shirt

because i don't think he would make it :nono:

Imagine Messi actually being scared of Shawcross
he has had his legs almost broken vs the likes of pepe, ramos and diarrra in 'that el classico' so i dont think stoke would be a problem for him. No one believes that myth anyway and if they do then they are stupid

It's hilarious how similar to Maradona's that is. It's almost as if the gods themselves want us to compare the two.

I've only just noticed that he's megged both those players at the start. Mesmerising skill.

well, they are very similar goals, but -i'm captain obvious- it's a world of difference between scoring against england in a world cup quarter finals, than doing it against getafe at home in a liga game

on messi's behalf you can say that he did it when he was only 19 years old

Getafe actually won that Copa del Rey Semi-Final (not a Liga game) 6-5 on aggregate after beating Barça 4-0 in the 2nd leg (where Messi didn't feature).

Of course the occasion for Maradona's goal was many times greater, but that was a fairly decent Getafe side that reached the cup final and finished 9th in La Liga with the least amount of goals conceded that season (33, joint with Barcelona). Their goalie, Pato Abbondanzieri, won the Zamora too that season. So it's not as if they were scrubs in defense.

Not that different, I'd say :p

Look at what he leaves out....

Competitive
Speed
Heart
Emotion
Spirit
Determination

but no mention of.... Skill :(

Barca are too dependant on him for the goals. Much more than Madrid are on Ronaldo or any other big side are on their main goal scorer.

Agreed. They're brilliant all over the field, but up front he's the only one at the moment who's really going to score lots of goals, which is different from previous years when they've also had the likes of Villa and Eto'o before him scoring consistently as well.
