Sometime i need to rub my eyes.

At 24 hes got a highlight reel of stunning goals most retired players would be proud off. That was simply sublime tonight.

Was he offside before he put the ball in the net in the second half?

This lad had huge question marks around him when he was younger and oftentimes injured... amazing to see him basically become as fit as Ronaldo these last three years and hardly ever missing a match.

51 goals this season......51 fecking goals!

His personal best in a season is 53, so I think it's safe to say he'll sail past that. Could he get 60? I would bet very good money on it.

60+ goals in a single season :eek::eek:

That's beyond FM stats.

They are not simply chips. They range from left foot, right foot, scoops, half volleys, inside of the foot, outside of the foot, off the laces, from a stationary ball, from a moving ball, dinks, digs. It's a complete mastery of the football. He can put the ball almost anywhere he chooses, from any position or situation.

Maradona is the only other person I've seen with the ability to manipulate a football in such a way.

Hes unreal sometimes. He has to win the World Cup and prove he can play in England for me to say the best ever!

I'd like to see him going to the likes of Stoke on a cold Monday night getting kicked to feck and them parking the bus.

Take nothing away from him though, he is unbelievable at times.

He'll need to win Serie A too. Maradona did it.

Yeah, I know, about a couple of times a year..

Yes, I take absolutely nothing away from what he has achieved in the Spanish league.

But I do agree, I'd like to see how he would do in one of the other top leagues, like the PL. But, I don't see that ever happening TBH.

Ronaldo has done it now in the two best leagues in the world, he's proven it but I don't see Messi ever leaving Barca.

Such a poor old cliche. He's been doing it in the CL vs the top teams from all over the globe you know. Even vs PL opponents. Scored in each of the finals vs us too if you remember. Do you really believe Messi would not be every bit as good in the PL as he's now? He'l probably need to be taken care of better because of the physicality in the league but he'l still make the defenders look silly just like he does now.

Messi is well used to getting the crap kicked out of him now at this stage, it doesn't stop him & i think the old cold winters night against Stoke thing was sort of put to bed this season too when Valencia went there & came away with deserving result.

He seems to keep chipping goalkeepers from about 7 yards out.

He's exploited like no other the shift to carpet-like pitches at the top level which allows keeper-chipping/scooping to be carried out with less risk than in the past.

what happens in stoke on winter monday nights? must be very frightening,
is it the day the lochness monster visits? jack the reaper? dracula? what?

and btw, i'd like a list of players that went there and didnt make it, tried to find one but i couldnt

anyway, i guess that list must be huge, or do we think that messi is the only player in the whole world that will fail there?

Stop reading the sun, for all of us. Also, Messi has played in El Classico derbies, Champions League Finals... why the feck is Stoke considered his cyptonite? Non technical, slow players are his prey.

Oh feck off with the 'he needs to do it in England' bollocks. He regularly takes the best club sides in the world to the cleaners in the CL, open your eyes.

Which of the top English teams has he not beaten? Why would he fear Stoke when he has been in a team which has beaten Man utd, Arsenal and Chelsea recently?

You know what? Just enjoy watching him, and being able to tell your kids you had the ability to watch him week in, week out. Something we hadn't the chance to do with Pele and to an extent Maradonna less so.

I think he would humiliate the Stoke players more than the usual service. They'd be too slow and dumb for him

Thats why its so amusing.

Make no mistake, he'd rather play against big clumbersome defenders than smaller technical players.

The quality of defending in the PL this season has been very poor, would his talent suddenly evaporate with a move to england?

He'd shine in any good side, no question :)

How did you end up on here during the game?

I'm new to the mains but I was under the impression people could post in any thread they wish to whenever they wish to :)

Saw it as an updated thread on the home page.

Don't take it personally but it's amusing how this thread has activity in it on a daily basis.

Dont worry about it man.

He's a big talking point in the world of football, I'm fairly certain this won't be the only place that has daily conversation about him :)

Some of you know there's a United game on right?

Messicafe

come on Amol!, first of all, my post was during the intermission, second, LTS10 is not a manchester united fan, third what's the difference between watching the game while posting in the matchday thread, with watching the game while posting in any other thread? and fourth ...

wait for it

here comes

what were you doing posting in the messi thread during the manchester united game??????????? :p

I already answered that. I noticed the activity in the thread and wondered why people felt the need to post in it on a daily basis. And during a United game as well.
