Lionel Messi - Performances

so another performance where his match compilation is more impressive then certain player career compilation

Not sure why people are mentioning the encroachment, it happens all the time with penalties that are allowed to stand and there were Celta players in the box too.

Not to mention the amount of time a keep steps out of his line to save penalties.

Being on 299 goals, getting a penalty and taking it that way - looks like a gimmick.

Even if its a gimmick, its taking away from his "personal" glory.

I don't get the big deal about the penalty, it's been done before.

The wankfest over the penalty is a bit ridiculous. I bet you there are probably more impressive moments from the game itself.
Agreed. The drivble that won the penalty for example. Or the lobbed throughpass to suarez for the 2-1. Or that dribble he did before he passed it to neymar->suarez for the third.

This was a badly camouflaged run up and a pass sideways in a hugely advantageous position for shit like this to succeed unless you are named pires and henry.

I'm being serious. Have you never curled a free kick in the park? Imagine moving the goal 90 degrees. It's exactly the same trajectory.

Do you realize he's done it after doing some passing games like it's nothing...right? And that Ramazzotti is the one who asked him to do it, it wasn't prepeared.

I bet my leg you wouldn't do it at the first try. And 95% of pros wouldn't do it also.

Stop it

It isn't "impossible" but you're talking like it's nothing. How many tries do you think it'd take you to do it? He did it (afaik) first time.

Video proof please. I find it difficult to believe that you could put the curl on the ball and hit it with such accuracy like he does.

What the feck is so amazing about that?

It's just the audacity to attempt it. It's entertaining as well. I don't think people are claiming that only Messi or Barca could pull it off but are just embracing the fact they did it.

Are you guys serious? At least I know Shammy is kidding around, but you two are acting as if he's done something amazing here.

I get the unplanned, off the cuff aspect, but its not anything difficult that he did there. I'm certain 99% of pros and the majority of us lot are able to curl a ball into a full sized goal from a similar starting position. Maybe not first time, but after a few goes.

I'm so pathetic that I'm actually tempted to go down to the park / goals this weekend and do it just to prove someone wrong on the Internet.

The only impressive thing is that he did it from the first time, if he did it from the second or the third nobody would give a feck.....

Do it. Would be nice to see regardless.

I don't think it's all about the penalty itself, but it was kind of a "climax" moment, after a string of great moments, last of which was the move from which Messi won the penalty. If you watch the whole game, or the full highlights, you kind of get more hyped up about it than if you just watch the penalty.
