Lionel Messi - Performances

What does that have to do with anything. All I was saying was that messi was ridiculous in that first leg against bayern. That boateng (one of the best defenders) was flat on his arse as messi took the game away from them was brilliant to watch.

 I apologize. Misunderstood your post.

A player like him may not come around ever again. Never seen anyone play the game like him. Probably the closest player to him in terms of style was Baggio.

You think Baggio? That's interesting. Don't think I've heard that comparison before tbh. I'd say Maradona, but that's the obvious one.
Ye Maradonna is similar to Messi the way they ran at defenders but Baggio's ability to take defenders on and make defence splitting passes was very similar as well in my opinion. Baggio was considered a number 9.5, not quite a 10 and not quite a number 9 either. Something I believe you can see similarities with Messi.

Thanks V. I, unfortunately, never watched enough of Baggio and his brilliance. At his peak, Serie A didn't have much exposure here back then.

Messi is more Baggio and Best than Maradona. But we wouldn't get to see a talent like him for a very long time.

He is still underrated to this day. Only the people who watched him can appreciate how good he was, I seen very little of him I have mainly watched highlights of him and read books about him.

He completely carried his national team to the final of the WC and was injured in the finaland had no impact at all. People only remember for the missed penalty.

And the daft pony tail:D

Kid's name is Murtaza Ahmadi. Kids in such war-torn countries face a lot, hardly get to enjoy their childhood. They deserve a better future.

That video was really nice to see of Messi and Baggio. Great share thanks for posting it IFC.

It's not even debatable anymore. Quite simply the greatest of all time.

I don't understand how it's even possible to be so fecking good. It's so unfair on everyone else.

What a match from him last night. Pure magic.

I think Suarez also grabbed a hat trick and 2 assists

What are the MSN trio stats for this season, comparatively? @FCBarca @CLARiiON @Brown Toothpick

I think Suarez probably has the better stats? Though obviously, messi missed a big chunk with injury

I'm still buzzing from the match last night, those highs carry on for a good portion of the week - loved it, can't wait to rewatch

MSN vs Celta Vigo, alone: 15 shots, 5 goals, 4 assists, 13 successful dribbles, 7 chances created

In last 3 meetings against Celta Vigo, Messi hadn't scored, just had an outpatient medical procedure related to his kidneys (Stones?) plus he gifted the Cruyff homage penalty to Neymar or Suarez despite it being an occasion he could've registered his 300th La Liga goal. Also, easy to overlook the way he absolutely destroyed Castro on the endline to win the penalty

Ney & Luis arguing who should've gotten the goal...Aleix letting Leo know

@Snow :lol: Let it go

Unsportsmanlike, I think using the ref like this is!

@FCBarca us united fans are starved of such "highs" these days :(

Hence we're all in here stealing highs from Barca

Yeah man. The numbers these 3 put up are insane. But Messi's clearly still in a league of his own. He seems to be playing a different sport to everyone else. And the playmaking ability of his will see him easily adjust his game well into his 30's. Injuries permitted.

Not putting Ronaldo numbers here for the sake of keeping peace in the thread.

@Ish This season goals:

Suárez 39
Messi 25
Neymar 22
Munir 6
Rakitic 5

Assists:

Neymar 16
Suarez 13
Messi 12
Busquets/Roberto/Alves 5
Arda/Alba/Iniesta/Rakitic 3

EDIT: Those 'assists' numbers probably before last match. I think someone can correct this.
