Ligue 1 | French Football 2017/18

PSG being repelled by Montpellier, still 0-0 with 30 mins to go. Haven't looked too sharp so far today.

Looked like that should've been a pen for that tackle on Cavani.

The handball and backward pass in the box in the first half were even more obvious but it was a shit match anyway.

I watched the second half as I had a bet on and it didn't even look like the PSG players were all that arsed.

They may be more interested already in the Bayern game incoming.

I said I didn't see much of Monaco/Mbappé last year so I hadn't formed an opinion on said player and that, because I watch a bit of PSG, I'd see him a lot more this year and now I have I'm seeing what the fuss is all about.

Against Lyon I thought he was a threat everytime he had the ball. I was watching on a stream where the quality wasn't the best and sometimes I thought it was Neymar with the ball because he was wreaking havoc, but the commentators would correct me by mentioning Mbappé's name.

Story going around that the PSG president offered Cavani 1m to give up penalty duty and he refused. IF it's true   The state of that club.

 That's probably bullshit. Hard to believe something like that.

The way Neymar has been behaving with penalties and with PSG probably going all out to appease him, it actually might not be too untrue  He couldn't pull off this crap with Messi and he didnt need to. He probably feels he's far too good for (true as well)and bigger than the club here and can do what he feels.

Didn't watch him then but did a lot for Monaco and he really is quality - especially in the CL.

Yeah, I heard he was great against Juve. The only Monaco game I saw in the CL last year was against City at the Etihad.

Ridiculous story, but probably won't be the most ridiculous you'll hear this year. All of this is overblown, it happens all the time but because it's Neymar's new team, it causes a big media storm. Meanwhile you barely hear the news that they all went to dinner the next day and Neymar has publicly apologized to Cavani for his behavior. Of course, that's not quite as interesting as the narrative of PSG falling apart before it's even put itself together.

I don't think he was really great against Juventus because Monaco was completely outclassed, but he was really the only danger that he was creating from half or even quarter-chances. What was impressive against Juventus is that a world-class defense like theirs, that hadn't conceded in the Champion's League for over 1000+ minutes, were fully-focused on an 18 year old kid.....and he still managed to score. And that goal was definitely not his best goal of the season (aesthetically-speaking, that honor goes to the one against Dortmund IMO), but it's the one that impressed me the most because of how this young kid beat one of the best defenses in a long time using veteran-like movement.

Cavani rejects €1m sweetener to give pens to Neymar.

PSG dressing room largely supports Cavani, Neymar signing unsettled the squad as many were then up for sale. A 'reconciliation' dinner organised by Dani Alves was comparable to a 'funeral' as dressing room in total disarray.

Al Khelaifi now left sweating as Cavani refuses payment due to dressing room status while Neymar refuses to back down regarding behaviour.

For some reason I didn't get an alert for this! Interesting read - thanks.

Haha, there are countless articles and sources confirming this is all behind them and Neymar has already apologized as mentioned earlier. Nothing to see there.

Anytime I can wax lyrical about Kylian Mbappe, it's my pleasure.

The truly impressive thing about Mbappé is that he's already a fully formed, complete package. With all the other prospects, you can see they're not quite there yet, that there are still things they need to improve before they can reach that level of consistency, before they can be considered world class. With Mbappé, the only reason people don't see him as world class yet is because he's only been a pro for a year. Really, there is nothing he needs to improve to become consistent, which is why he already *is* consistent. He could not improve one bit over the next ten years and he'll still be one of the best players in the world throughout his career. It's truly stunning

Also, nice to see Fekir is fully back from the injury and delivering on all that talent. He's not gonna be at Lyon next season

PS: football leaks revealed details of neymar's contract with PSG. It's €37m a year, so quite a bit less than the €60m previously reported

My guess is:

the club pays 60 millions (gross)
LESS taxes
= 37 millions net for the player maybe

It really is! God, I hope we're in for him come the end of the season but I highly doubt it. :(

Football Leaks is BS. I thought that was quite well-known by now.

It's an uncomfortable situation for the players that the club wanted to sell.
The price of Matuidi could explain that they needed to sell and perhaps some veterans feel a bit betrayed.I think the information is good.
Barcelona had already this problem in the dressing room with Neymar and his privileges, arguments with Unzué and tepid relationship with the team, and still wasn't so bad to affect the performance.
The press tends to exaggerate, especially Diego Torres

Great body feint by Falcao for the goal. He's having a great start to the season

No, the competition will be tough between 2 winning teams: one target all the trophies and the other one all the money.
Monaco are clearly suffering this season after all the important players who left. Yeah, they bought well, but they are not as strong as they were last season.

Aren't Monaco level on points with PSG atm? Before Nice battered them(as they did last season) they were flying? I mean, sure they don't look as good as last season on paper, but then, did anybody actually expected them to become that good last season?

Calm down. They still look like a good side. If they don't trouble PSG will likely be because PSG will set a new european points record
