LGBT issues in Football

To be honest I'd prefer people don't ask kids about having girlfriends or boyfriends.

No I don't have a girlfriend, I'm 8,feck off, I like dragon ball z and pokemon.

I don't mean to pile on you, but I did read the conversation, and I got that understanding from your use of "promotion". I think that people just know, who (or what) they're attracted to, with or without "promotion", wouldn't you agree?
I think I kinda got your point that you don't want to "unnecessarily advertise homosexuality", is that correct? But what do you fear from that "promotion"? That more people will turn gay? If not, wouldn't you agree that it would be healthier, even for children, to know that their sexuality and attraction is normal and accepted, even if it is to the same sex? Would you want children to suppress their feelings?

Another question, would you also ban pornography if you could?
Hmmm. If those marches were hetero and doing hideous things I've seen there on LGBTones or swearing in full voice next to a little kid then they would frustrate the feck oit of me and I would be against such events.

My daughter is absolutely fine, ishe changes her mind after few years? We'll see.

Yeah that's pretty weird, my neighbour (same age as my mother) used to ask me that when I was like 7 or 8 years old and I always was like "Lady, I don't care about girls"

It was apparent from the first page Tomus wasn’t worth engaging with.
Is it about the sarcastic post that debunked your twitter? Or is it simply a normal 21 century thing when people cannot dicuss on a respectable level..

You learn throufh mistakes so next time change the title to 'only this, this, seconded, absolutely, yeah them right.'

And so on.

And that is this 'progressed west'

Anyway, there will be less alerts.

Late bloomer then. I had a feckin harem by the age of six haahaha.

You must really hate football then. The things that get shouted/displayed at a game are a hundred times worse than what goes on at a Pride March.

Also remember, 'Tomuś's posts shouldnt be engaged with'.

Criticize the post, not the posters remember!

This point I get and I think that there are even voices on the "woke left" who would agree with you on this and are calling for parades to dial the sexuality down a bit or at least also provide more "family-friendly" spaces. A pretty famous, progressive lefty Youtuber comes to mind. I think this point can be reasoned quite easily. In my opinion, a ban on "promotion of homosexuality" wouldn't be the right answer though. Also, if I wouldn't want my children to see stuff like this, I just wouldn't take them.

This point I don't really understand. I don't think one can just "change their mind" about their sexuality as they please. But maybe we are on different understandings of the terminology here, I'm not sure.

Right so if there are no arguments or anything to prove your point and you just succumb to 'the feck that' ' where love' and other defitist phrases then I think we may call it a day hehe.

Seen both and I don't agree.

So you don't have a problem with nazi salutes, monkey noises, obscene chants, fighting, beer throwing, etc etc?

These are all very common at football games.

Probably the part where you're encouraging violence against LGBT+ people.

By the way. How many Christians get beheaded for beings Christians each day? I forget.

1000?

None of those are common or remotely accepted in the prem.

The point was he wants to ban LGBT marches because they are apparently violent/obscene (yet I've never heard of a single such incident), but he has no problem with football games, which are a cesspool of obscene/homophobic/racist language and aggression.

In other words, when a gay man misbehaves, he represents all men of a certain "lifestyle choice" and their mission to promote their evil way of life, but when a straight man acts like a caveman, he's just a bad apple.

First of all - whataboutism - a favourite word in this thread. Secondly, being a Pole I do have a problem with nazi salute. Finally, I don't take my kid to matches yet.

Yrah, you just made going to a match sound like running the gauntlet of near death or shocking experiences.

In the last season of Swansea being in the prem a few years ago, a supporter was caught doing a Hitler salute at Spurs supporters.
I mention that one incident because it was caught on camera and punished, but I've heard racial slurs, obscene chants and beer throwing (also urine) across stadiums all over the UK.

Maybe not super common, but are they any more common than what the poster is alluding to goes on in LGBT marches?

A bit disappointed actually. Miss those uni years where you'd have thorough conversation about really serious topics, there were always 2 sets of opinions and people discussed open-mindedly.

Caf is good for foobtall though so that will do. :) g'night here guys.

I respect that it's not easy when you're one poster having to have debates with multiple people, but when I made a point to you earlier, you replied insinuating I was speaking about Arabic countries, when I showed that was factually not the case, you ignored the argument all together.

I do understand it can be overwhelming and frustrating when multiple posters are quoting you and making arguments (which I'm as guilty of as anyone), but you haven't debated in particularly good faith.

One of my earliest football related memories is two fat guys bashing each other's face in outside of the stadium.

Again, my point isn't that football games are horrible, it's that plenty of unsavoury things go on inside stadiums, yet nobody would dream of banning football because of it. Yet seeing a guy in a tongue is so traumatic to some apparently that gay pride parades should be banned forever.

I remember the odd isolated incident, but it's rare enough to be used.

A lot of my in-laws have similar views on pride and light rights. I'm sure they think the March is a giant debauched orgy.

You forgot the flying dildos mate.

Either way though, heteronormative relationships are dime a dozen in children's tales. If those aren't deemed harmful but showing homosexual relationships apparently potentially damages children... well, hard to explain that stance by anything other than homophobia.

I wouldn't say it damages children, but it might affect them. Sexual orientation is not a choice, but the exact cause of developing a sexual orientation is still unknown. So it is actually an interesting and relevant question. Environmental influences are most likely part of the cause as there are many known societies where homosexuality was part of the norm.

In the early childhood you learn how the society works and what's your role(s) in it through socialization. So you'll learn about the norms of the relationships, the role(s) of men and women etc. You can disagree with the norms of that society and you can try to change it. Due to the globalization, it is already happening in many ways.

So you have a society who prefers heterosexual relationships. It might be due to ideology, religion, politics etc. As a consequence they decide to ban the sharing of material promoting homosexuality which target preschoolers. After that they can still include all kind of relationships and sexual orientations as part of the sexual education in primary or secondary schools when the students already developed critical thinking. There could be also no discrimination against anyone who doesn't belong to the norm.

It would also be a worthy discussion to examine the role of the religions - for example, how Christianity created new socities across Europe and stabilized the continent, but then it also hindered scientific and social development (and disrupted philosophy too).
