Let's all laugh at England

Just wanna say to all you English fans. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That is what you get for being so obnoxiously cocky! Rio Ferdinand going on air and speaking so arrogantly about how none of Italy's players will make the England's team and your team is a given to win the Euros, booing others' national anthem and all those disgusting classless stuff you've done. Karma is a bitch. I wanted England to lose in the most tragic circumstances and have Italy tipped to win on a penalty shootout and couldn't have asked for a better script. Best bet I've ever lost in my life.

That's fair and quite considerate really. The only problem is I can relate to Argentina so I'm actually laughing at you.

 England  Brazil

Well, Brazil does have a history of bottling the big games at home, right ?

1950

2014

2021

Can't blame you for laughing at that

You're really feeling them in in this thread. Going for a record of warnings per minute here!

Oh dear

Mate that’s all good. I have no issues with England/Scotland/Ireland/Wales banter but if you can’t see the hilarity of the bitterness on here over England making one measly final. I mean you’ve had people posting essays on England’s colonisation hundreds of years ago, brexit etc. People blabbering on about incidents from 1998, getting into an almighty strop over booing of anthems. Thread after thread full of bickering.
If this was a club side someone would have reigned it in and gone “lads, you’re all getting a bit weird now”…

Look at this guy. Presumably he was asleep when Tuanzebe and co were being racially abused online by “United fans”

Cant help but agree with this tbh, even though I’ve spent much of the week defending the banter and cringing at England fans expecting other nations to support us. I’m the first to admit that England as a nation deserve all manner of shit, and that we have a section of terrible fans and banter is part of the game, but there’s way more weird OTT shit in this thread than I’ve seen any “cocky” England fan post over the whole tournament… a lot of genuinely quite nasty stuff from people I thought were sound too.

Eh, let ‘em wear themselves out I guess… at least someone’s enjoying it

They're fine with their bigotry when they know they'll face no recourse for it.

It's going Rome

Don't use "it's coming home" nonsense next time please England. You make it tough for neutral to support you.
I said this was a very bad idea from the beginning. You can't get so cocky as to run with a tag like this well before a ball is even kicked. This just heaps more pressure on the team.

I wanted England to lose the final just because of this 'It's Coming Home' nonsense. No one has a god given right to anything. I've heard some English talk like they've already won (looking at you too Rio). Maybe next time they'll learn to be more humble.

I think my favorite part about this might be the whole narrative the media had set up for Southgate. Missed the penalty in 1996, but then seemed to have redeemed himself by knocking out Germany... only for him to eventually lose on penalties in the final at Wembley. Especially because his substitutions and choice of takers were atrocious.

It's almost too good

Could you imagine how unbearable it would have been if they had won it. Already planning their 4 day holiday to celebrate. Surprised so many on here were pulled into a false sense of belief. The team were handed home match after home match and had a fairly easy route to the final bar a poor German side.

Football is coming home, nah not anytime soon

Go do your homework you little sperm. :wenger: Rio is a United legend.

Tbh the most annoying thing wasn't the pissed up England fans throwing glass bottles(Mostly at other England supporters), it was the non stop 90's nostalgia. The shit bucket hat, the retro kits, the gazza hairstyle and the endless musical torture of It's coming home. Felt like the country was stuck in a mad fever of a Gen Xer with early alzheimer.

Thank christ it's over and we can get back to the modern world.

Well this just shows who is here to support United and it’s players and who is here for school girl like trolling
true supporters stand behind their players.
Up there with one of the most embarrassing threads I’ve seen, keep posting, you’re jealously is making me laugh hard

Marvel missed the trick by not releasing the no way home trailer :D . Anyway, this place has been unbelievably toxic since the semi final. Hope everyone goes back to usual United related discussions soon.

A few things.

The whole 'its coming home' was always an ironic song. Until last night though it got pretty serious and rightfully so. We are pretty good in all honesty. If that song did/does actually ruffle your feathers, then you are missing the joke.

I'll concede that england football fans are probably the most cnutish per capita but there are hundreds of thousands of us that are sound. I'm surprised to see people on this forum, who come across as intelligent, have hatred for England as a whole. I mean come on. 50 million people we are talking about.

Poltically and historically there are many good reasons for people to dislike England but I would like to think those who are clued up in that respect would be aware that not everyone thinks the same way.

Also to hate a team of footballers who are just a normal bunch of lads is pretty weird. They just play football.

And finally, Manchester united? the team we all love are English. It must be a massive conflict of interest supporting a team based in England?

When united play we all bicker and disagree for the sake of the team but when the internationals are on this place becomes so divided. Its sad to see.

As it happens I was born in England but I'm of Irish Catholic descent.

If united behave like england fans I'd support something else.

Without wanting to seem arrogant, it’s pretty hard to see the constant misinterpretation/understanding of “It’s Coming Home” without concluding that every other country is just full of incredibly stupid people with terrible senses of humour.

I have a love hate relationship with England. In one way I like to see our players succeed. On the other hand I've seen enough United players being blamed and harassed because England is simply, not good enough (Beckham, Phil Neville etc). Rest assured that Rashford and Sancho will soon be added to that list. Anyone knowing United's history know that England and the FA is not a friend of our team, far from it.

England fans have to realise that as soon as an international game takes place you basically become scousers. This forum just needed a couple of poems about Southgate and it would have been a Rawk-lookalike. You even have your own boom bust cycle with qualifiers when beating San Marino fills you with confidence, this year is our year la. It's coming home. And then it all falls apart in the same way as it always does. Rinse and repeat.

When you add the football fans people outside of England meet, at say holiday resorts or tourists in general, the yobs we saw outside of Wembley, and it can't be all that difficult to understand why no one would like you all that much.

I love our players to bits and will defend them all year, but at an international tournament they are representing a rival team. Loving United doesn't make it mandatory to care for England. For most of my time as a supporter I've heard the opposite from the native fan base. 'Manchester is Manchester, England be damned.'

You need to spend more time around english people.

That shite was on non stop where I live and it wasn't ironic or self deprecating. It was pure 90's nostalgia. It turns out most England supporters aren't cast members of the football ramble(Who are just as annoying tbh).

Honestly feel bad for the English team right now as its generally a likeable squad, Southgate really fecked them over with his tactics.

Also find it weird that you decide to root against England cos of their fans, as if the Italian fans are any good!

Not only England has lost, but they've shown themselves from the worst possible side as football fans. Right now in Poland fans behavior is being discussed widely.

Poland are one of the last places to discuss other fans behaviour.

i've read a few posts here about how it is sarcastic and a wry comment on decades of failure, but, it certainly didn't seem to be used like that, and it's hard to judge a full song when it's literally these 3 words that are repeated and nothing else.

reading redcafe and general football coverage, there was a lot more of the sarcasm and defeatism that you're talking about in previous tournaments. hearing "it's coming home" as england struggled vs the US with heskey upfront and upson at CB would definitely read as sarcasm.
not sure about this time.
