Let’s sign Gareth Bale

I dont give a shi* anymore. . Just buy that guy ..

I can't understand how this isn't the attitude of every United fan at the moment. Trying to money manage the club, complaining about all but three of our players being average and getting distraught about our football style and future...yet they will find excuse after excuse for signing a player that has just won the Champions League more than this club has in it's entire history.

Not to mention Real Madrid 'rejects' have a lovely habit of elevating their next teams to great success.

Strongly suspect Bale being marginalised for much of the season and benched in the CL final was the last straw and he probably feels now is the right time to leave Madrid with his head held high and credibility intact after his MOM in Kiev.

Throwing my tuppence into the ring now and calling this as Utds major signing of the summer!

He's actually a perfect player for our RW, and I hate it when someone says that a player will be 'perfect' for us.

The guy has no deficiencies in his game except he misses 10-15 games a season. I'll take Gareth Bale for 40 games of the season on our RW please.

Because we will sell Martial and bla bla bla.. Want to know why Real wins it all the time? Because they have the best players who have done it time and time again. Not just a bunch of players who think they've made it and sulk and dab all the time .. That's why ..

They dont hide when the heat is on they raise their game something that really cant be said about our lot..

He’d work for us on the right and I think he’d also work well with Lukaku creating space for him to exploit. He doesn’t require good football to perform either.

:nono: Martial has the best goals to minutes ratio in the team...I need him in the team to win debates online about who's got the best attackers in the league.

I'd trade Martial for Bale as well

He was a very good fullback when he started out. If he still has the legs to be an attacking fullback we could do a lot worse.

I wrote that with my tongue firmly in my cheek. I don't think you can call him a left back anymore. His game has evolved since then and he'd be completely wasted in a non-attacking role.

I really don't want him. He's like 39 and almost exclusively injured.

A fit bale is exactly what we need, and what we've basically lacked since Ronnie. Would be a gamble and madrid would charge us more than most but I get the impression he wants out and zidane wants rid. He's never really been accepted there.

Personally I'd do it if we can negotiate £80m. He still looks lightening quick and we are really crying out for a RW and there are no obvious options. When the likes of Douglas costa are potentially going for £75m I think his would be worthwhile.

Always been a big game player and if he can perform with the Welsh team, I'm sure he can produce magic for us. Let's see what happens, but I'd be worried if he signed for another PL team.

Yeah thats one of the trophies we won this season ...

So you’ve taken that seriously then?

From what I know about Florentino Perez, there would be no reason not to. He want's de Gea. If he can con Mourinho into giving up de Gea for a crock like Bale, why would he not make such a demand?

I don't understand why people here are so concerned about the wages, transfer fee and affordability. The money men in MU can do the math and take care of it. Also You guys will sell players to generate fund and free up wages too. It is very important for the richest club in the world to field a team with superstars and able to challenge for the league title and CL next season. That is what's important to the board.

Its the football manager in fans talking. It's why fantasy football is so popular, mug punters fancy themselves as experts.

I just wanna see some top players play for my club that can lead us to silverware.

Just broken on Sky Sports News that Spurs are not going to use the buy back/first option clause for Bale if he leaves because of the cost and that we’re the front runners, think this is actually a possibility this summer.

This.

We aren’t winning things simply because we have consistently failed to buy the very top bracket of players for the last decade while Real and Barca have.

All we need is better players. Our manager is a proven winner everywhere.

This was always blindingly obvious.

He currently earns 5x more than Harry Kane ffs.

I think this was a possibility a few months back. Don’t think it’s new, the 2 final goals just played into the media’s hands.

£160m blooming heck even if we pay that there is his wages and signing on fee, image rights ect - need to pay wages in a pay as you play deal to get your worth from the player

Then comes the kicker we all know Real want Dave included in any deal

In terms of valuing the transfer fee:

- He’s a superstar (35m Instagram followers which is much more than any of our players).

- His ability is immense.

HOWEVER:

- His wages are astronomical. Reportedly around £600k pre-tax.

- He has a proven track record of being injured for about one-third of the season.

- 29 years old means no possible resale value and only a few years of peak ability.

As such, something between £70-85m seems realistic.

Lastly, it is very difficult to reverse-engineer what we would have to pay him in salary based on his reported £350k after tax in spain.

Spain’s tax rate is higher: 53% v 45%

Also, Real take a cut of image rights which is different to how we do things.

This, I think it’s probably not that much more than Sanchez is getting.

If seems determined to play so I’m sure he’ll be willing to take a pay cut. Nobody will pay him £600k a week unless he goes to China. Still, he’s going to command a huge salary even if not matching what he’s currently on in Madrid, and that leaves ourselves, City, and PSG and that’s about it. City don’t want nor need him, PSG may be strung by FFP, so his options are limited unless he’s willing to take a 75% pay cut.

IMO if he doesn’t join us he’ll be staying at Madrid. We may explore an appearance-based wage structure as part of the offer I reckon. If he’s on the market we’re going to push hard for him, so prepare for a good muppet summer. DDG will not be part of any deal, he’s staying with us.

If he's fit and firing he will win us the league, exactly the type of player we've needed at several points last year.

Looks like he wants to play more ( injuries permitting). If it was wages he could have negotiated a huge pay raise with Madrid. Also i feel as long as Ronnie is in madrid, he wont get the limelight.

I hope so, I really want him at United.

There was a time when we made stars rather then buy crocks. Oh well.

I hope we do sign him and I think you may be absolutely correct. Although maybe he could do with reading your post and realising it himself.

If Pogba has a good world cup, and Real come in for him with a swap for Bale and 30m, would you take it?

Ok, I've had my doubts, but that performance against Liverpool was basically the ultimate United audition.

Issued a 'come get me' plea in his post match interview.

Give him what he wants and lets bring this fine lad home to the PL.

What say you lot?

It was a great goal but I wouldn't want him here because he's too injury prone and he wont get goals like that all the time.
But, that super goal should not fool clubs into paying more than he is worth. However, if we could get him for less than £60m then it might be worth it.

Why would you want rid of Pogba for Bale? Just doesn't make sense.

....Bale.................Pogba
Matic.....Fred.....Matic......Fred

I dont see how its that hard to understand. A Bale that plays 30 games will still be more productive that a Pogba that plays 50.

So we go through the season hoping Bale is fit. And he won't be. Then he will be back and score a wonder goal. Then all is right in the world. Then he's injured again. Semi final of champs league coming up. Will he make it. Yes. No. Maybe. Yes he's in the bench. Plays 20 mins. Plays next three games. Does Man City. Best buy ever! Yeah. Told you so!. Then he's out for 5 months. Misses champs league final.
