Because threads about players we are obviously not signing are pointless.
There's quite a few threads for discussing individual players in the football forum isn't there?

I think it's safe to say that Juventus fans would start a Riot in Turin, if Juventus even entertain the idea of selling him after the Pogba saga.

Yes, that's the ideal place to discuss most players. In this case, its pretty much impossible that Juve would sell him to us after they just sold us Pogba, so all discussions that we are going to buy him are more or less pointless.

If I were Juve I'd sell if a ridiculous offer came in. Sell, sign Marquinhos for half the cash and one side of the centre back pairing is sorted for the next decade. If I'm us, I'm signing Marquinhos instead.

Marquinhos would most likely cost around the same, if not much more. Unless PSG want to sell, no player will be obtainable.

Why would they need to sell after just having earned 100m for Pogba.

I really don't think it's likely that they are going to sell him, but if City or United bid say £60-65 million they might do it anyway, as that is an enormous amount for a 29 y.o. centre-half. And especially if he asks to leave himself. They do have Rugani coming through and have just signed Benatia, although I'm aware they have Chellini and Barzagli who are both ageing.

Again, I think it's unlikely, but certainly not impossible. They don't have to sell Pogba either, and would probably prefer to keep him for at least a year in order to mount a serious challenge at the CL. But it looks like he's going to be sold anyway.

I don't think its financial any more - its more about a statement of intent about their ambitions. Just like when we got Jose, Ibra, and subsequently Pogba. If Juve sell Pogba and Bonucci in the same summer it will have a knock on effect for other players pondering their own role at the club as its selling its best players.

I agree. I don't think he's going to leave, and Juve are going to reject almost any offer. But my point is simply that if the offer is high enough and the player wants to leave, any player in the world is for sale. And as rich as Juve are, they are not quite at the financial level of the likes of PSG and United.

Yep, and the Italian clubs cannot compete financially with the premier league and a lot of top players in Serie A might have their heads turned by the wages on offer in England. We don't know exactly why Pogba is leaving but the salary probably helped to nudge him in our direction.

I can't really see that happening, although it would be epic!

Why do we even need him? We already have Bailly, Smalling, Blind, TFM, Jones and Rojo for CBs. What will we do with so many CBs?
Rojo and Jones are easily dispensable on the basis that they're not very good. Reports continue to crop up that Mourinho would be willing to see Blind also.

I really cant see tbis happening.

Also a lot of money for someone his age

The report also mentions Varane, but I don't think that'll happen. 29 is a great age for a CB.

He's fantastic but it won't happen, especially after the Pogba deal.

Jose clearly likes him and Varane, but can't see any of them happening right now.

Bonucci is honestly untouchable at Juve. He is our most important player in defence and is the future captain after Chiellini and Buffon. It would take a crazy offer to get Juve to sell in the first place. He already turned down Man City for double his wages.

Would be an unreal signing. But he's Juventus through and through, will probably retire there. Also, after losing Pogba, they would not want to lose Bonucci - especially not to us again.

60 million and he should be ours, I dont think we sign another CB without slimming the squad. Its already too big, Signing any defender would be idiotic if we cant move the current ones.

Well it'd be good to be able to dispense with Rojo who isn't good enough and Jones who's made of glass and that's without considering him being better than any of our current options.

Not that it's gonna happen.

Unless we recoup a lot of money from player sales I can't see us even entertaining the idea of going after Bonucci.

Only two of them are worthy CB starters. One is a fair alternative, one probably won't start much this season or next, one is always crocked, and Rojo is crap.

Would be a dream signing, although highly unlikely I'd imagine. Still, I'd shop Jones, Rojo and Blind for him without hesitation.

Juventus wouldn't budge for anything other than an outlandish bid with which they could calm their fuming masses of supporters who would march onto their HQ should they get wind that this was anything other than media 'wind.'

And what when a year later, Bonucci is not good enough anymore, either? We sell him then? One year mercenary club, eh?

Sell the shit ones
If only it were that easy.

Erm, Bonucci is superior to all of them, that's why we need him.
Not that superior. Smalling was arguably the best CB in the league last time, and Bailly looks promising. Is CB really a priority? He's 29, too, how long before we replace him?

Yeah why would we ever need arguably the best CB in the world?

Ah, the overrating has begun, I see.
Boateng, Pique, Ramos, Hummels are all better, off the top of my head.

Two of the worst defenders out there who constantly get caught out of position are better than Bonucci ok. Pique and Ramos may be good footballers but they are nothing defenders when comparing them to Bonucci.

Not sure about that one. In any case its been reported Jose wants an experienced head to lead the defence and to play with Smalling/Bailly I'm all for that.
As long as we can get rid of one of Jones/Rojo. There is also the option to sell Blind to Inter (rumours they want him) but I'd rather keep him if we can get rid of one of the other 2.
We're also linked with Jose Fonte who is 30, seems Jose wants an experienced head

CB is a priority because Rojo and Jones are rubbish. Doubt Mourinho is a big fan of Blind in defence either. We definitely need an experienced CB. Bonucci would be absolutely perfect for 3-4 years.

What a load of shit. Pique and Boateng have been the best 2 CBs in the world for several years now.

Be like getting off with Scarlett Johannson and then having Mila Kunis come round later to sit on your lap.
