That pass to Garnacho was sublime too. Garnacho was called offside (although don’t think he was), but the pass was lit

Can’t wait til he’s a starter. I know we’re being careful with him, but his ceiling is really high

I have really high hopes for him. Wants to learn, great prepositionally, reads the game well, great passing range, crisp passes. That first tackle today was sublime. Central defense should be the least of our worries hopefully in the near term id De Ligt and Martinez also step up a notch. But a core of Mazraui, Yoro, De Ligt, Maguire, Martinez + one should be more than enough.

The kid has talent in abundance and I am glad that we are easing him in rather than pushing him in the pit of fire that is our defense. I am hoping that as he grows in the team and comes to term with the pace of league he is moved to the central center back position. Would like someone strong, who has pace and is good on the ball play there instead of 'Arry or de Ligt. Also, I think it'll help Martinez a lot if he has Yoro on one side and a better pacey LWB on the other side of him.

He seems to be unfazed by the occasion and that tackle in the box takes some balls.

Didnt know about his sprint back but excellent work rate and determination

Everyone talking about the tackle, but my god that fecking switch to Garnacho was MINT. Scholes would have been proud of a ping that strong
Absolutely - Maguire can hit them, but often far too lofty and thus too slow. Yoro hits them with much more pace and lower off the ground, as you say more like Scholes would - much more efficient if you can get them just long enough - you also put the defender off as they think for a moment they can catch it instead of just backing off. Brilliant pass!

Of course, the tackle was sublime.

His touch and short passing is something that goes a little under the rader - he's almost Carrick-esque in how he plays one or two touch passes, where his first touch often sets him up for a perfect pass with his second touch. A joy to watch in that sense.

Leny has only just turned 19 yrs old.
He needs to be used carefully, to build his experience in the heat of the EPL.
Not thrown in at the deep end.
We bought him as a great prospect and we are getting glimpses of that.

Yep, it's something that really helps the team get on the front foot. I remember when he first came back from his injury he was just playing it very safe, but more recently we're seeing him quickly get the ball forward with short, hard passes without any delay. It's a very underrated ability that gets us moving forward before the opposition get their positioning set.

If we can get him firing in that role, and Martinez to be more adventurous with his long range passing, then our playing out from the back will improve further - it's already improved under Amorim, imo.

Yep, he's our natural successor to Rio.

Hope he continues to establish himself at the right pace and stays injury-free... and doesn't miss any drug tests :)

Nice to see acknowledgement of managing his fitness, that's my main fear with someone his age.

I think of Fofana when at Leicester, pure raw potential (different to how Yoro plays but talented to the extreme) and now he's entering his 3rd or 4th long term rehab period after a bad injury, the schedules now are a joke and I can't help but think when you look at players like Mount, Martial or Shaw that once you've come back and it's either been rushed or, for whatever reason, you're not fully ready the spiral of repat injuries seems to kick in.

I thought it was initially Zirkzee who had pulled that tackle off! Great defensive work, and at a crucial time.

Untouchable? There is no United player that is untouchable at this time.

But I do like what I see of Yoro so far. That tackle was for the ages.

Very much doubt you’d know more than the reported sources at the club regarding player status.

Shouldn’t be surprising he’s regarded in this manner though considering the effort we made to sign him - he’s clearly seen as a special talent and long-term investment

I don't know more that these sources of course, but I do know that once a player is tagged as 'untouchable' in this United team then the only way is down

Just ring the club and ask…who are the untouchables this month?

Such a bland story that has been repeated since last summer. Fills a few web pages, good job journos :+1:

He’s untouchable in the sense that he’s not up for sale. This shouldn’t be surprising to anyone. United fought hard to secure his signing beating the arguably best club in the world to him. He’s not really going to be someone the club will be contemplating moving on at this point in time.

Probably not up for sale at this time, no. But he should be on guard nonetheless and not let his performance levels drop.

These kids start off with a fire in their belly and that fire is soon extinguished once they get comfortable with the idea they are never being sold.

Maybe it's confirmation bias (as the two long term sick notes did get injured again) but I feel like Amorim is much much smarter with managing injuries than ten Hag was.

He must be better than Saliba was at the same age. Surely if Saliba then was at the level of current Yoro, he'd have walked into the Arsenal side that was midtable a few years back and not been out on loan for years?

What a signing I hope we continue in the same path signing top young players and build a squad full of Yoros and Amads

You’re reading too much into things. He’s proverbially untouchable because we’re not looking to sell, believe he has a high ceiling and - as reported - like his attitude - and it’s good for players to know they’re appreciated.

Yoro isn’t even a bonafide starter yet - as we’re being careful with his development.

Not everything needs scaremongering or a doom clock countdown on it.

Untouchable is a strong word, but it would not make sense for us to sell players like Yoro, Ugarte, Kobbie and Amad. Very talented young players with their best years ahead. We probably haven`t seen their best level either.
They would be really hard to replace well for us regardless of the money we receive for them.

It's generally a mistake to just assume an upward trajectory, but yeah he is quite comfortably better than Saliba was at the same age.
